In Hail, Columbia, the War of 1812 results in a decisive victory for the British because of their victory at New Orleans along with their destructive campaigns across Maine and Maryland, resulting in the secession of New England from the United States. The British gains Oregon territory and creates an Indian Confederacy near the Great Lakes. The US, much weakened, is divided between the few frees remaining and the southern states. The compromises only delay the war between the states, which results in a Confederate victory, due to their support from California, Texas, and Europe. Another destructive war in the 1880s results in America falling into Germany's sphere of influence, while the Confederacy joins the British. This complex web of alliances threatens to plunge the world into violence.
