Great Russia is the largest country in the world, most militarily advanced country in the world and a major power bloc in its own right. Established by Lavr Kornilov during the Russian Civil War, Great Russia was initially a military dictatorship, but in the recent past has made several important steps toward democracy.

Great Russia emerged as a country in the aftermath of the Great War, as a reformation of the Russian Provisional Government. Lavr Kornilov, a Russian general and warlord during the Russian Civil War who had seized power during the Coup against Alexander Kerensky, inherited the title of Tsar-General of Great Russia as his former post was dictator of the RPG.
Russia faced problems after the war. Although the communist rebels had been defeated within its borders, Russia was still divided. Although the Kazakhs supported Kornilov, ethnic Georgians, Armenians and Chenchens where in revolt near the former Ottoman Empire, fascists and socialists struggled in an attempt to overthrow the Russian puppet state of Germania, and across Russia remnants of the warlords who fought in the civil war, plus a few crime lords who had taken over entire towns, remained. Indeed, despite the resources Kornilov possessed, Great Russia would not be distracted by revolutions and was only completely unified during the 1930s. When the Great East Asian War broke out in 1942, Russia almost intervened to aid China, at the time it's ally. Russia was blocked in this by the European Community and Mongolia, which was on the verge of joining the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Despite Russia's aid to the Chinese nationalists during the Chinese Warlord period, China was driven from Russia by this, and soon fell in with the South Asian Union. In 1945, Lavr Kornilov passed away. Russia was immediately plunged into a political crisis. A new leader, democratically elected to the post of General Secretary, which replaced Tsar-General, took power. This leader, Vladimir Stukov, would seize dictatorial powers in early 1946, continuing Kornilov's legacy.
Russia, despite being one of the members of the Triple Entente, was denied a place in the European Community. Russia's emnity with Europe during this time held it back from achieving world domination. It was essentially the failure of the Russian economy that prevented Kornilov's soldiers from overruning Europe. Russia's "White Curtain", initially the heavily defended borders between it and Romania, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the entirety of the German border, had been pushed back to Poland and the Baltic Federation by 1970.
The first Russian spacecraft reached orbit in 1980, in a response to Thailand's space program. How the Russians achieved spaceflight so quickly was highly suspicious to the rest of the world, and it was later revealed that the South Asian Space Program was overflowing with Russian spies.
In 1993, Great Russia officially became a democratic state. This did little to end its emnity with the rest of the world. Although now democratically elected, the leaders of Russia continued to run the country as a police state, and a one-party system remained in palce.
