World War III, or the Third World War (often abbreviated as WWIII or WW3), was a war that began in Asia by mid-2009 and ended on January 1, 2012. It is also known as the Great Pacific War, since nearly all of the battles were fought in the South-East Asian Region.
Despite being only fought in continental Asia, many of the world's nations participated in the conflict. Alongside this, it drastically affected the world's economy. Plunging some nations into a great depression after China's workforce was ultimately cut in half, causing most product prices to rise.
Clashes between China and various other South East Asian countries over the issue of the ownership of the Spratly Islands reached an all time high some time in mid-2009. After continous fighting and arguments, alongside a massive debt from the Philippine Government, China began to invade the South-East.
China immediately annexed Taiwan without encountering much resistance, quickly advancing south towards Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
Fighting erupted in northern Vietnam, with Chinese forces being bogged down by the Vietnamese People's Ground Forces. However, China continued to dominate the air and quickly bombed the Vietnamese into submission.
