Great Britain is the greatest superpower in the world in ATL year 2008. After more than 300 years of dominance it has recently annexed territory from its greatest rival Imperial Russia and is on the verge of war with tensions running high and the threat of nuclear mutual destruction looming.

In 1776 Great Britain defeated rebellious colonists in the Thirteen Colonies by capturing the Continental Army in Long Island. France decided to take advantage of Britain's forces stretched out among her colonies and amassed a fleet in 1777 with thousands of soldiers to invade Ireland, which would reach out to the French as a liberating force. The French garnered the support of the Spanish and they too agreed to send troops. The plan was to land the forces west of Kinsale near Cork, and to advance towards Dublin. The Spanish fleet was discovered by a British merchant ship heading towards Gibraltar and it was not hard for British spies to find out about the French fleet. (To be continued)

Under law maintained since the time of the Tudors the Anglican Church is the Church run by the State with the Monarch as its head. Although since then restrictions on religion have lessened and Catholics, other Christians, and Non-Christians have been allowed to live in the country and many Africans, Serbians, Bosnians, Armenians, Polish, Baltic peoples, and others have fled to Britain and her dominions because of wars and genocide around the world, and this has caused debate about whether immigrants should be allowed.

The country is run by the Monarch but there is limited democracy because of the elected MPs, but who do not have a lot of power. Their is a divide in parliament between the Monarchist Party (Majority) and the Reform Party (Minority). There are illegal parties that have not been authorized by the state including the Economic Reform Revolution Party (A party that leans towards the ideas of Marx and Engels), the Anti-Monarchist Party (For the overthrow of the Monarchy), the Hibernian Brotherhood (for the complete independence of Ireland), Catholic Freedom Organization (Militant party for the overthrow of the Anglican queen with a replacement of a Catholic Monarch, with ties to the Vatican and Spain), Immigrant's Rights Organization (Terrorist organization that carries out bombings of government buildings to get more rights for the immigrants in the United Kingdom.)
