In the United States presidential election of 2000, Democratic candidate Al Gore and his vice-president nominee Joe Lieberman won 292 electoral votes over Republic candidate George W. Bush and his vice-president nominee Dick Cheney won 246 electoral votes.

Bush, due to the closeness of the results, refuses to concede and calls for an immeadite recount. After an week of bitter recounts, the results are correct, and Al Gore becomes the president-elect.
