Previous: Golden Opportunity lost (CYOAH)
Furious at the attack on Berlin by the British, Hermann Göring orders a massive raid against London, designed to do the same as what the Luftwaffe did to Rotterdam, nearly leveling the city during the invasion a few months before.
The strike is launched, and the Stuka dive bombers, as well as the Junkers and Henikel bombers, escorted by Messerschmidt Me-109 fighters, lift off and pulverize the British capital. RAF Fighter Command was unable to mount an effective response; the majority of the Spitfires and Mosquitoes sent to attack the Germans being shot down.
And the effect was immediate. The central part of London on the Thames was destroyed: Parliament was severely damaged, St. Paul's majestic dome destroyed, an entire wing of Buckingham Palace destroyed, killing the popular King George IV and his wife Elizabeth, along with over 6750 others.
Göring then orders the attacks on the airfields and factories resumed, as the British had been punished for their "pirate attack" on Berlin. Prime Minister Churchill, having survived the bombing raid in the Cabinet War Rooms buried under the city, is now in serious trouble. The monarch was dead; the young Princess Elizabeth was now Queen 12 years earlier than in OTL; the RAF was nearly destroyed, and the morale of the nation was shattered, and a motion of No-Confidence was introduced.
What happens now?
