This page provides an overview of the international politics of the post-apocalypse world resulting from the Human-Zombie War. The sudden Zombie Apocalypse in the late 1960's drastically changed to course of global geopolitics, creating new alliances and nations. Several supranational organizations have arisen since then for the purpose of facilitating and protecting member nations, economic interests, research, and other fields.
Since the apocalypse a powerful system for creating a successful nation has been through unions. This general trend began shortly after the apocalypse, basing its system off governments such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Unions helped to preserve a country's integrity as a state, and helped to pool resources with nearby nations, creating powerful superpowers and states across the globe.
One of the first nations to create a multi-national union was the United Republics. Created by the nation of Argentina following a union with Chile, the union would eventually grow to encompass much of South America, and the world. The United Republics' system of government would later be duplicated by several other states, becoming the framework for other powerful unions. Other examples include the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand, which was formed almost immediately after the apocalypse.
Examples of multi-national unions, in order of foundation:
- Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand
- United Republics
- United Kingdoms of Great Britain (United Heptarchy)
The world is often divided into several competing and often overlapping major blocs and alliances, usually led by a superpower and their respective vassals and spheres of influence.
American Bloc, consisting of the United States and its many dependencies and allies. The American Bloc often consists of much of North America, including several American successor states still affiliated with the United States. It also includes the members of the Channel League and NATO (solely American aligned NATO nations are shown on map, although all NATO nations could technically be categorized within the American Bloc.)
United Republics Bloc, is one of the largest blocs in the world, led by the United Republics, and consisting of its many puppets and vassals, including the Confederate Mediterranean, the Celtiberian Community, and the nations of the League of Latin America.
The German Bloc is a large European Bloc led by the nation of Germany. The German Bloc consists of the nations of the Central Alliance, Eastern Bloc, and several nations of NATO, who together with the Celtiberian Community formed the European Union to regulate European related matters.
The Oceania Bloc, also known as the Australia-New Zealand Bloc, after their lead members, is a large bloc consisting of Commonwealth of Oceania, formerly known as the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand, and several states in the Pacific. The majority of territory in the Oceania Bloc is directly owned by the Commonwealth of Oceania, with the nations of Indonesia and Malaysia being major exceptions, both of which are heavily influenced by the Commonwealth however. Territory under control of the Commonwealth was largely acquired during the Commonwealth-Guniea War and other Commonwealth South Pacific Operations, carried out by the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand after the apocalypse.
The Russian Bloc is a large bloc led by the Russian Federation and its allies. The Russian Bloc consists of several states of the former Soviet Union, and several neighboring Russian allies. The Russian Bloc typically includes the several states released from the Russian Federation as satellites, including Finland and the Kazakh Khanate, as well as strongly strongly influenced vassals, such as Korea.
The South African Bloc is a large bloc led by the nation of South Africa that dominates the southern half of the continent of Africa. At its height the nation of South Africa had occupied the region of Angola, controlled the colony of Gabon, and created a continuous union of nations across southern Africa. After South Africa's defeat in the African War the amount of territory directly under control of the nation was diminished, and the bloc's expansion was largely stopped at Angola and the Congo, although South Africa would continue to indirectly influence the nations of the South African Bloc.
Several major supranational organizations exist across the globe, grouping nations into military and economical alliances.
The European Union is an economic and political organization consisting of several states located primarily in the continent of Europe. The European Union operates as a system of supranational independent institutions and intergovernmental negotiated decisions by the member states, who meet in the organization's capital of Brussels, Belgium.
States are also commonly grouped by common culture and language.
The Dutch Commonwealth is a group consisting of the surviving Dutch-speaking nations and former colonies, as well as occupied Dutch territory. The Dutch Commonwealth gained significance in the 2000's, with the creation of Dutch puppet states in Belgium and France. Since then many other nations have been recognized in this group, based on their acceptance for the Dutch language and culture.
The Mughalsphere is a collection of states led by the Mughal Empire, consisting of the nation's sphere of influence, mostly organized into the organization of SATO. The Mughalsphere stretches over much of northern India and parts of the Middle East, and overlaps with its neighbors to the east, the Hindustan Republic, and to the north, the Russian Federation.
