The Most Serene Republic of Genoa is a nation in the Bella Gerant Alii timeline. The decadent trading empire grew rich on its maritime power.
History[]
Rise[]
The rise of Genoa coincided with the fall of Venice, which, after an unsuccessful war with Naples-Sicily and a collapse of trade led to Genoa's main European rival being annexed by Lombardy.
Genoa later acquired land in Crimea, the Romanian coast, the Nile Delta, Malta and Corcyra, Cyprus and elsewhere, including a temporary acquisition of Kiev.
