Publius Licinius Egnatius Gallienus Augustus served as Emperor of the Roman Empire from 253 to 268. During the first seven years of his reign, he ruled jointly with his father, Valerian. Gallienus' reign was characterized by the de facto secession of the Gallic Empire from the Roman Empire and his failure to reconquer it.
