On July 26, 1969, the greenhouse gases that resided in Earth's atmosphere began to dissipate due to various laws enacting the use of renewable energy such as sunlight, wind, rain and tides. This ultimately made the world colder and greatly affected multiple climates around the planet. As a result, many animals died due to changes in their habitat and certain resources became unavailable... and Earth plunged into absolute turmoil.
The Point of Divergence began on June 2, 1969 when multiple national governments around the world signed several bills into law which made way for the total use of renewable energy such as wind, sunlight and rain as power sources. These decisions would pave the way for a new glacial era on Earth... one that would cost many lives and revolutionize the future of the planet. As the days passed, cars and other machines used ethanol as a non-pollutive and alternative source of energy, and over 500 million wind turbines were made to outsource power to residential homes and community buildings.
It seemed as if the world had entered a new "green era", but it was on July 26, 1969 that humanity learned their mistake... meteorological scientists discovered that the greenhouse gases that occupied Earth's atmosphere had begun to dissipate, decreasing the world's overall temperature to 40 degrees farenheit. This masssive drop in temperature led to many different resources being lost and certain animals dying from the sudden changes in their habitats. The loss of these resources resulted in conflict between the world superpowers as multiple nations tried to salvage as much of their precious resources and minerals before they were lost to the drastic temperature drop.
By September 1969, the world's temperature had dropped to 20 degrees and glaciers began to form in Canada. The effects of the cold temperature led to large accumulations of snow in almost all of the United States. President Nixon issued a state of emergency and urged all Americans to remain alert and avoid being outside for prolonged periods of time. By November, the average temperature in the United States was 10 degrees farenheit and the world's overall temperature was 16 degrees. Glaciers began moving through Canada as several other continents began to notice the effects of the drastic temperature drop as glaciers formed and severe snow storms occurred in Russia and China. During this time, the world's overall supply of resources had been depleted to 61%, and some nations resorted to invading other countries to steal their reserves.
The International Resource War began on January 5, 1970 after the Soviet Union invaded both China and the United States in search of oil and other precious resources. The Soviets were successful in taking oil from Alaska and Canada, but the same couldn't be said for China, who quickly dispatched their invaders, but the damage had already been done; the United States declared the U.S.S.R. a high-level threat as Chinese forces invaded the nation as well as several contingents from the United States.
By February, the glaciers reached the United States. Several towns and even cities were buried by the monstrous sheet of ice, which was 200 feet taller than the Empire State Building. President Nixon was evacuated to a bunker beneath the White House while U.S. most citizens hid in improvised underground shelters. Glaciers also hit cities in China and Russia, killing 600,000 citizens.
