Franz Karl of Texas (17 September 1802 – ), known as Francis Charles in English, is the first and current King of Texas (König von Texas), a title he bestowed upon himself in 1848. Before his proclamation, he served as Governor-General of Texas while it was a colonial territory of the Austrian Empire, starting in 1836.
