Francisco Labastida Ochoa (born August 14, 1942) was a Mexican politician and economist from the Party of the Revolution (PR) who served as Prime Minister from November 1997 until his defeat in the April 1999 elections. After the resignation of most of Manual Camacho's Cabinet, Labastida was voted by acclamation by his party to be elevated from Minister of Finance to party leader and Prime Minister, making him the 20th Prime Minister of Mexico. His term is often remembered for its low economic growth and he is ranked low on historical ratings of Prime Ministers.
