The current ruling coalition (the Front Populaire) is composed of the French Communist Party (PCF), the French Section of the Workers' International and the Radical- Socialist Party.
The Popular Front's reaction to the Spanish Civil War was ambiguous. On one hand it felt that the Spanish Popular Front was a kindred spirit who deserved all the help it could be sent. On the other hand, the French PF was afraid that to help them would only result in a backlash from France's Right wing.
