Hi, I am new to Wikia.

I've had this idea in the back of my mind for about two years and before I start I want to know if this is something anybody else would like to get involved in.

The idea is to take the Wow! signal detected by a SETI search in 1977 and extend it into an alternate timeline. When the signal was detected in "our" reality the monitor and transmitter were unattended. Why this is important is possibly this would offer a reason that the signal was detected in one beam and not both. Let's say some enterprising astronomer noticed something to maintain the signal and in this alternate history the signal was sporadic for several months as opposed to this timeline.

In this alternate history contact is not made. Maybe Earth could send a signal and we could be visited in a few hundred years. For my contributions I only want to focus on 1977 to present alternate.

From sporadic signal detection in this alternate TL different social movements happen to "claim the signals as 'their' mark." Politics might want to become more global in governance.

Although the data information (if any) in the signals is theorized and disputed, questions in methodology occur. For example, if contact with ET signals were made constant could the person who detected a hypothetical TV or radio signal get a copyright of the alien work on Earth?
