History[]
Finland remained a part of Sweden until 1721 when the Northern War was lost, and Russia annexed Finland. However, Finnish nationalists started to grow and eventually, a rebellion happened in 1860 and Finland gained independence in 1861. Soon, in the First World War, Finland was at war with Russia and by the end of that war, Finland gained Karelia and the Kola Peninsula. Finland also helped the allies again in the Second World War.
