Greece is a small colonial empire in the South-east Mediterranean. During the Third Global War, it sided with the St.Petersburg League.

Colonial Empire[]

After Greek Independence, the "Megali Idea" (Great Idea) was created by Greece's ruling politicians stating that it would give Greece and "Empire from the Danube to the Indus", after the more-western empire of the Byzantines and eastern one of Alexander. Libya, which was being eyed by the neighboring Italians once-again saw waves of Greek immigrants (the first waves two-thousand years before). Within five-years the "Kingdom of KyrēanΪkē" was established with the Greek king as its head. However, pressure from the Italians, Turks, and French caused Greece's infrastructure to deteriorate quickly and Greece began seeking support wherever it could.

Japanese Vassal State[]

Japan, looking to extend her influence to a new part of the world saw the distress of Greece and looked on with intrigue. Soon Greek military-men were being trained in Japanese training schools, rich Japanese businessmen began buying up Greek property, Japanese soldiers were seen in the streets of Cyrene, and culminating with the government of Greece "giving" the eastern Mediterranean island of Halki to the Japanese.

Greece flourished under Japanese secret-rule, becoming a force-to-be-reckoned-with in the Mediterranean. Soon, Japan guided Greece to war with Britain and the Italies. After a brief war with Japan, Russia, and Greece versus the dying Ottomans, Britain, and the Italies; Greece won British Cyprus, Turkish controlled Thrace back after hundreds of years, and began to hold sway over Italy and Sardinian controlled Tripoli. Political cartoons of the time represent Russia and Japan as an intimidating and muscular couple with a small child (Greece) hoisted up on their shoulders, with malice in his eyes and haggard Mother Britain trying to break up arguing children (Bulgaria, Turkey, and Sardinia; all in the most ethnic and stereotypical dress).

In later years (sometime before GW III) Greece purchased its first and only Asian colony; a small part of the city of Tianjin. The quarter of the city is more of a trading post than an actual colony, with Asian, African, and European goods being sold by the multitude there.

Race for Albania[]

Tiny Albania was always the damsel in distress in the Balkans. It needed help, and the many powers were looking to extort this. The Sardinian King Emmanuelle XVI (or whoever it would be) officially made Albania a Sardinian protectorate. Infuriated, Greece had another high member in the tiny Albanian Republic sign Protectorateship to Greece. Soon, a Cold War began between Greece and Sardinia, culminating with Greece muscling away Sardinian competition. After the Second Eurasian War Albania was "lifted" to colony status.

Biting the Hand that Fed Them[]

During the Third World War, Greece began a more expansionist cycle, as greed corrupted the hearts of the ruling society of Greece (the emperor, politicians, and nobility). Siding with Russia, Greece invaded Japanese-held Halki. Though briefly holding the island, when the tides turned in war the Saint Petersburg League lost and once again Halki was lost, back to Japan. Japan asked for little from the losing Greek government. It was able to keep its colonies, though Japan asked for some small war-reparations, the islands of Kos and Leros, and extremely generous business deals for Japanese business interests.

Greece Today[]

Today Greece is well on its way to becoming more than just a nation in the middle of the First World. Its colonies, which have grown over the years, are bringing in much needed money. Now enormous corporations, both Greek, Japanese, and French are moving in and going to stay. Their economy is strong and now threats to Bulgaria, the Italies, and Turkey are stopping. However, debates within Greek parliament to annex various Italian city-states, Bulgarian border areas, and bits of Turkey are hot topics for the Members of Parliament. Greece is still currently a monarchy, officially and Emperordom.
