The Republic of Thailand (Thai: สาธารณรัฐประเทศไทย), was the form of government in Thailand from 1946 to 1961. The Republic was proclaimed on 10 June 1946, after the death of regent Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII), and was dissolved on 6 July 1961 after coup d'etat in the aftermath of the 1961 revolution by Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn.
After the death of regent Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) in a military coup of June 1946, a provisional government was established until December 1946, at which time the 1946 Constitution was approved and Thailand becamed a republic. During this time of the dominant-party authoritarian government, Phibunsongkhram's executives initiated numerous reforms to what in their view would modernize the country. [UNDER PROGRESS]
