The English Surrender at the Battle of New Portshire

In this althist the Native Americans discover how to extract and use the many natural resources of the United States. They use these resources paired with their skills as soldiers and sailors to defend their lands from the encroaching pilgrims coming from Europe.

Resources[]

Through the years the Native Americans learned how to extract metals like iron and gold from the earth. They also used skills that they recently acquired about blacksmithing from tribes in modern day Central America. They use these tools to create iron swords. As they experiment they learn how to make steal. They begin to upgrade their ships and armament with these new technologies. They begin trading the gold and nickel with the Spanish, who are in South America, for knowledge about ships, construction and mining.

Europe Gets Angry[]

As the Native Americans expanded in the west Europe was getting very angry in the east. English, French, Portuguese and German ships were getting sunk of the coast of America by these Native American ships. The European powers did the unthinkable. Not long ago the great powers of Europe were competing for land, treasure and glory in the "New World", but now, they have decided to ally and defeat the Native American forces. In Europe war was brewing between the European Alliance and Spain.

Invasion of Spain[]

The European Alliance (France, Portugal and England) were frustrated that Spain was trading with the Native American civilization. In 1668 the European Alliance invaded Spain. The Spanish capital, Madrid, was moved to the Spanish colonies in the new world and was called New Madrid. Spain fell in 1670 with the fall of Madrid. Spain was then split up into small colonies of France, England, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The Netherlands joined the fight in 1669 and helped in the siege of Madrid.

European Offensive in the Americas[]

After the successful invasion of Spain the European Alliance turned their attention to the Americas. Spain was still trading with the Native Americans but the European Alliance had all of Europe to themselves.

New Portshire[]

England sent a small scouting party to the modern day Maine. They made landfall and set up a small colony. It didn't take long for Native American scouts to find the encampment. Just before the destruction of the colony, now called New Portshire, the English Navy sent several large warships to the area. By this point the Native American navy had destroyed one of the vessels. Once the ships arrived the Native Americans launched their attack. The Native American foot soldiers attacked first while the navy bombarded the settlement. The foot soldiers secured a perimeter and let the navy destroy the English ships. All three of the Royal Navy ships were destroyed with the loss of one Native American ship. Once the Royal Navy ships were destroyed the foot soldiers charged the town. The defenders had little of their wall built so the Native Americans came and rampaged the town. They looted and burned. Once all of the English soldiers were lost the battle and the coming war was clear: the Native Americans are a well trained, determined and organized military force. The European Alliance needed more than a small colony to get a foothold in the New World.

New Lyon[]

After the defeat of New Portshire France set up their own settlement. They learned from the English. They escorted their ships with warships. They barely got through the Native American ships. They landed on a small beach near a wooded area. They had plenty of time to farm, build and construct defenses. There was a much stronger military presence at this settlement. This settlement was discovered much later than New Portshire due to its position in a well disguised cove. The Native American troops mobilized all around the area and prepared to attack the fort head on. The Native American forces launched in three waves. The first wave's objective was to set up a small "beachhead". Once this was established the second wave (being the largest) would move in and launch smaller raids from the secured area that the first wave set up. The third wave was for support reasons. If the first or second waves took heavy damage the third wave could support them for the time needed.

The Native Americans Attack[]

The first wave comes in and successfully establishes a small "beachhead". They suffer casualties on the heaver side but are still intact. The second wave comes and takes very little damage. Once they begin their small pinpoint attacks on the defenses. Some of these are successful. One raid made a large hold in one the walls of the forts defenses. The French forces are overwhelmed and are unable to defend against the oncoming waves of Native American forces. In close quarter fighting elements of the second and third waves defeat much of the French force. The remaining French militiamen are pushed to the southernmost area of the beach. The lone French warship (that is damaged due to a skirmish with Native American ships) launches boats to pick up the men on the beach. Though, disaster strikes for the French. The Native American forces kill all of the French militiamen on the beach. The ships from the boat are unable to get back to the warship in time. The sailors are killed and the Native Americans use these boats to ferry their troops to the French warship. After a long fight, and many casualties, the Native Americans push the remaining French sailors to the back of the boat. The Native Americans capture the sailors after a long stakeout. They then claim the ships are theirs.

The European's Decision []

After the loss of New Portshire and New Lyon Europe was faced with a decision. Would they continue to attempt landings in the New World or would they let the Native Americans stay in peace?
