History[]
It was founded by Romans as Mediolanum. In 1688 it got conquered by the Grand-Duchy of Bavaria, before the success in the war between Bavarian Imperial Army and the Milanese Rebels; one of the most important exponents of independent Milan was Alessandro Manzoni.
