Pagan Conversion[]

The first major conversion of the kingdoms in the British Isles started in 656 AD. There are still tribes all over europe. This game will start in 657 AD. The events for the previous year are as follows:

  • February 1 – King Sigebert III of Austrasia, age 25, dies after a 22-year reign. His 5-year-old son Dagobert II is kidnapped by the court chancellor, Grimoald the Elder, who makes his own son king; and exiles him to an Irish monastery. Dagobert is placed withDido, bishop of Poitiers, while Grimoald's son Childebert the Adopted assumes the Austrasian throne.
  • King Oswiu of Northumbria invades Pengwern (modern Wales) and kills king Cynddylan in battle, near the River Trent. His brother Morfael and the remains of the royal family flee to Glastening (Wessex).
  • King Œthelwald of Deira is removed from office by his uncle Oswiu, because of his desertion at the Battle of the Winwaed, and replaced by the latter's son Alhfrith, as subject king in a united Northumbria.
  • First Islamic Civil War: An armed revolt erupted in Egypt, several Muslim sympathisers travel to Medina to rally support, beginning the fitna (literally meaning the 'trail of faith'). The Muslim expansion come to a halt, the martial energies of the Islamic forces are directed inwards.
  • June 20 – Uthman ibn Affan is murdered at Medina after an 11-year reign. He is succeeded by Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law Ali ibn Abi-Talib who becomes the fourth caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate. He makes Kufah (Iraq) his capital, but the succession is disputed.
  • November 7 – Battle of the Camel: Rebel Arabs under Aisha (widow of Muhammad) begin a revolt against Ali. They are defeated at Basra and Aisha is exiled to Medina. During the battle 10,000 people lost their life, with each party bearing equal loss.
  • Abdullah ibn Sa'ad, governor of Upper Egypt, dies after a 12-year regime in which he has defeated neighboring Nubia.
  • Empress Saimei of Japan builds a new palace at Asuka (Nara Prefecture), because her former residencetook fire. This construction is called the "Mad Canal" by the people of that day, wasting the labor of tens of thousand workers and a large amount of money.
  • Li Xiăn, seventh son of the Chinese emperor Gao Zong, is made crown prince. His lavish palatial mansion in Chang'an is converted into a Daoist abbey during the Tang Dynasty (approximate date).
  • The Yasaka Shrine is constructed in the Gion district of Kyoto (Japan).
  • Mayan- B'alaj Chan K'awiil was captured by the king of Calakmul but, instead of being sacrificed, he was reinstated on his throne as a vassal of his former enemy, and attacked Tikal in 657, forcing Nuun Ujol Chaak, the then king of Tikal, to temporarily abandon the city. The first two rulers of Dos Pilas continued to use the Mutal emblem glyph of Tikal, and they probably felt that they had a legitimate claim to the throne of Tikal itself. For some reason, B'alaj Chan K'awiil was not installed as the new ruler of Tikal; instead he stayed at Dos Pilas.

Here are the basic rules for Pagan Conversion:

  • Each turn is 5 years. A new "5 year period" shall begin at 00:00 (UTC) every day. We will post 5 Years at a time for players to respond.
  • Wars will be decided by the algorithm on the talk page.
  • Any player disputes will be resolved by the moderator staff.
  • A player has three plausibility strikes. First time is a warning, second time is a ban and third time you're banned from the game.
  • Players may not create new sciences or technologies on their own but must instead approach the Moderator Team with the technology and provide explanations why they should discover the advancement; it will then be announced in the Mod Events section of the turn. Requests to advance are on the talk page.
  • Mods will not do mod events where their nation is located.

Mods[]

Each Mod will have a region to create events for.

  • Yamato Japan: In the year of Saimei-ni Empress Saimei continues to help instigate the spread of Shintoism and Buddhism with syncreticism between the two minimizing any potential conflict. The enforcement of emperors as gods continues to make them an irreplaceable part of Japanese culture. The yakasa shrine is imperially ordained to be used as a new year celebration. Sino culture continues to be imported into Japan. Consolidation of the Imperial power continues. While most Close to the Imperial Center in Yamato remain completely under the control of the Imperial Court. In the year of Saimei-Shi Kumaso is consolidated into the imperial realm. We reassert our alliance with Paekche. The building of shrines.kabuki theater, and various Other cultural ideas to further advance our standings.
  • Khazar Khanate: We offer the Rashidun an offer of conversion of Islam and request a status as vassals.
    • Rashidun Caliphate: We send several Imams and envoys to welcome Khazaria to the Caliphate, and request they send at least 50,000 troops to take Damascus
    • We agree and send the troops immediately.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: After crushing victories at Basra and Camel, the Caliph Ali ibn Abu Talib, son and successor of the Prophet, procurator of the Two Mosques, and Viceroy of the Ummah, establishes his new capital at Kufa. The garrison is greatly expanded, creating a basilica where Ali administrates over matters from both Arabia and Iran. Copies of the Holy Qu'ran are carefully written by scholars who had memorized it. Meanwhile, Ali daily meets with chieftains from the Khawariji, Ibadi, and other Bedouins from Arabia. In public and in private, Ali spreads word that he intends to ensure the liberties and contiguity of the bedouin way of life. Additionally, he proclaims Muwawiyah and the Banu Umayya to have strayed from the path of Allah, having shed innocent blood in their path to destroy the Rashidun and create and create a tyranny. While these proclamations are being carried out, Ali marshals the full forces of the Caliphate, 90,000 troops, to march on Damascus and crush the rebel Umayyads. In addition, he reaches out to Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr, the new governor of Egypt, and calls on his additional support to invade Palestine and secure Jerusalem for the Caliphate. Furthermore, Ali sends several Imams and envoys north to the Khazars, welcoming them to the Caliphate, and ask for their additional military support to crush the rebels in Damascus. His eldest son, Hassan, is left in Kufa to administrate in Ali's absence, and Hussein is sent to administrate over Mecca. Ali himself leads the final troops against Damascus, zulfiqar sword fully brandished. Economy improves.

663-668[]

Silla manages to conquer Paekche in 663 this leads to a planned restoration of the Paekche dynasty however this plan fails as Empress Saimei dies in Asakura palace thus halting it the defeat of the Japanese navy later that year by the Tang navy stops the plan altogether.

Unrest in the Khazar Khanate occurs due to the Khagan's acceptation of vassalage to the rashidun sultanate many Khans begin to call for the replacement of him with a rival claimant named Hezekiah Khan garning support upon disgruntled tengriist shamans and khans.

The Rashidun Caliphate attempted assault into Syria fails with the army being stopped at the Battle of Bethelhem.

Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr reaches out to the Caliph promising his support garning 60,000 troops to help the caliph in their battles.

The Roman empire's exarch begins to call for an invasion of the caliphate's land but this falls on deaf ears due to the economic crisis facing the empire.

Throughout China and Japan buddhism continues to spread throughout the two nation with the syncretic nature of Buddhism making many new rituals in both countries appear.

Overall criticism, I would be fine with this if these were one-year turns, but with five years I would expect things would be moving a lot faster. -Nate

Until you make an algo the revolt will go on for centuries, Nate. -Belial (BTW, the algo is on the rule page.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: Ali ibn Abu Talib continues to make war with Syria, now with a total of 190,000 troops invading the region from three sides: Egypt, Arabia and Khazaria. The city of Kufa quickly grows into a metropolis of a city, attracting the finest scholars and reciters away from Medina, and bringing knowledge from as far as Esfahan. A mosque is constructed in Khazaria to solidfy the pressence of Islam there, even in the face of the unrest there. Envoys are sent to the Avari, asking for an alliance. Traditions passed orally from the time of the Prophet begin to be compiled into a single literary tradition.
  • Northumbria: We continue to pacify Pengwern and we build a series of forts to help fortify the area. We give loyal and brave soldiers land in these areas as a reward for their service in order to continue to pacify the land while we also send settlers to make towns. We continue to fortify lands, and we get prisoners to build a series of roads in our lands to help increase the movement of soldiers and trade. We begin to expand the capital and encourage trade. We send gifts to the welsh lords in order to help win over their loyalty. We also send envoys to Wessex telling them to stop sheltering the Welsh Royal Family and hand them over peacefully (mod response). We also send envoys across the isles seeking allies (mod/player response). Secret, we also look to crush the picts in the north.
    • Kent Dip: King Egbert I is willing to ally himself with Northumbria to protect his kingdom from the influence of Mercia and Wessex.
    • Northumbria Dip: We agree to this alliance and will try to help counter Mercian and Wessex influence.
  • Silla: King Muyeol asserts the Silla–Tang alliance, sending envoys to the Tang to study Chinese culture and paying their respects to the Tang Emperor. The envoys also ask for blueprints of Tang weapons for an appropriate amount of precious metals, so that Silla can self-manufacture them, and call for an bilateral scientific research on the prospect of weaponizing fireworks. The military continues to see growth and advancement. With the subjugation of Baekje, assimilation efforts to mend dialectal differences occur, with the rigid bone rank structure being applied to the former subjects of Baekje. Buddhism, continues to flourish as the prevailing ideology, with Buddhist temples and statues being erected all around the country as well as Buddhist-influenced arts and literature. In preparation for a predicted increase in territory in the planned conquest of a collapsing Goguryeo and an irrelevant Tamna, King Muyeol begins gradualist reforms that will surely mold the Sillan government to fit Chinese bureaucratic models. (fyi, Paekche is the older Romanization, while Baekje is the colloquial, more often used Romanization)
  • Syria: Having crushed the Rashidun army at the Battle of Bethlehem, the Syrian forces rejoice. Meanwhile, Muawiyah refuses to submit to the Rashidun Caliphate, and accuses the incumbent Caliph, Ali of possibly having murdered the previous Caliph. These accusations gain immense popularity in Syria, given the Caliphs meetings with the Khawarij in contrast to punishing them. Meanwhile, in response to the Caliph raising the highly unrealistic amount of 190k which never happened otl because the Caliphate had to control all the Non-Muslim areas, Muawiyah responds by raising 120k men, an amount that the Syrians can actually raise given that it is mentioned in sources. Nevertheless, the 120k are positioned appropriately to defend against the invading 190k
  • Francia: A new King is crowned, King Dogobert. A new high priest is also crowned name Bero. As a new King he asks the Romans for an alliance. When accepted we will send 1000 men to help them fight. We will raise a new cathedral in Paris. The king's new fortress is being built near IRL Matterhorn. They reform most all things and they keep building their armies We officially invade Brittany with 10,000 men (mod response needed).
    • Austrasia: more manpower to the army.
      • Neustria: more manpower to the army.
      • Brittany Crushed
    • Kent Dip: King Egbert ask King Dogobert for a commercial treaty, as it would be beneficial for both. He also offer to send his son Eadric as ward to the Frankish court if it can help the deal.
    • we accept

Samo's Empire(Venedi Empire): As Samo died in 658 his Empire plugged into confusion and was likely to be conquered by Avari. But in 663 appears new leader for Slavic people: Svatopluk (althistory character). His biography before 663 isn't known for certain. But in 5 years he finished with the claimants to the throne of the Empire and stopped internal unrests. But the country still have enaugh problem: Avari regularly raid Slavic lands and dream to return them into Avari empire. Fortunatly Avari becomes weaker and weaker. So the slavics have chance ...

  • Khazar Khanate: The Khan announces to the people that religion of all kind will be tolerated, and asks that they not join the rival Khan. • Pandyan Empire: We declare war on the Chera dynasty in Kerala saying that we the Pandyas have already subdued the Cholas which leaves only one other Tamil dynasty left to conquer. This is stated to be a war to unify the Tamil people under our banner. We send around 50,000 troops to the the Cheras. We send an embassy to the Alupa dynasty to ask for their help in return from some of the Chera’s territory.(Mod Response Needed) We continue to invest into military technology and continue to subsidize our commerce.
  • Kent: King Egbert I begin to gather garnisons on the eastern frontier with Sussex. King Egbert, being a religious man, invest a large part of his personal treasure into local churches in order to please Bishop Putta of Rorchester and to stay in the good graces of the Pope.
  • Frankish Dip(Secret:we ask Kent to join us in a war aginst essexs).
  • Kent Dip (Secret): We agree, on te condition Frankia help us in our future war against Sussex.
    • Kent (OOC): Aren't you invading brittany? Just to be clear where I'm sending my troops next turn.
  • Old Great Bulgaria (OOC): Samo's Empire is Slavic.

  • Chlothar III, king of Neustria and Burgundy dies
  • Francia: We start building 24 meter Skeid longship made form Kermes oak, we also start makeing crossbow by takeing the design of the greek gastraphetes but we make it smaller and make it so you fire from the shoulder and it has a pull lever to tight the bow string, it will be made of Dutch Elm and Delta metal (brass) just like the bolts will, we also start makeing two handed clubs and axes with the handles made form swiss pine and the heads made out of cast iron, We ask for the Kent kings daughter hand in marriage (reponsed need). The kings castle is done, to boost our profit we start mineing and fishing, We Merge Austrasia and Neustria into francia. We expand 100 Px into OTL benelux.
