Welcome. Does this world seems different, weird even? It is. The Nazis are still here, but so are the Russians. The Holocaust happened, but a state for Jews still exists. The Japanese still get their Dai-to-a, but aren't German allies any more - they're in bed with the Soviets.

PoDs

The PoD

(I am playing around a bit.)

The main PoD is actually at the point of contraception. Instead of the OTL sperm winning "the race", another one wins and an alternate Adolf Hitler is created. Although similar to our "own" Hitler, he has slightly more moderate views. Although for the most part he would lead the same life and play his part in most situations almost exactly the same, the main difference would be seen in World War II where this view would help him control his Slavic hatred and his hate for Communism.

First PoD?

The first main PoD comes in the Battle of Britain. As the Germans pounded British airfields, the British - in a last ditch attempt - sent out their own bombers to bomb German cities. Hitler soon lost his cool and ordered the same for British cities, giving British airfields a respite.

Here, Hitler goes into a conference with his generals, and after debating, agrees to keep bombing out British airfields. This soon pays off, with the Battle of Britain going the other way. Although the cities remain intact, Britain loses the power to defend its skies, and on the 15th of September, the largest German fleet of fighters and bombers hits the British with everything, devastating its capability to fight.

The British soon find themselves ramping up coastal defences, hoping to fend off invasion. An invasion that never comes - saved by the weather. Yet the country loses the ability to fly sorties against continental Germany, and comes at the mercy of the Germans. The country never poses an air threat again, not for a few years at least.

Second PoD?

The second main PoD comes in 1942, and the invasion of the Soviet Union. Hitler wanted the city of Stalingrad wiped from the map, due to the reason that it was named after Stalin himself. Here, he still orders General Paulus to divert his armies to Stalingrad, but Paulus sees the folly in the order.

He disobeys, and instead launches all his forces toward the Baku oilfields, however, keeping in mind to have his flank protected by SS units. The move pays off and the Soviet troops in the area soon find themselves starved of oil. This effect soon spreads, and the Soviets soon find themselves having an oil shortage in the area. Then comes the attack on Stalingrad, destroying the Soviets completely.

Hitler forgives Paulus, as he did go on to destroy the city. The German army soon manages to conquer Leningrad too, and set about the motion of Soviet destruction east of the Urals.

Third PoD?

With German skies clear of any British fighters, German industry does not take a hit and the war effort goes much smoother. As a result, the Horton Ho-229 is developed much quicker, and goes on to make a difference in the war. As well as this, the Panthers and Tigers are produced in greater numbers and captured tanks are soon retrofitted and put back into the war effort. Once Britain finally manages to become a threat in the skies again, it is balanced by advanced German fighters.

The design of the Panther was a simpler one in this TL - and much similar to the Russian T-34, and its was more easily mass-produced. The Tiger was also of a simpler design. However, it still took a significant amount of time to be constructed. However, these changes enabled the Germans to make more of these tanks which helped make a difference on the front.

Overview Timeline

Opening Moves (1939-1943)

1939-1940: The war proceeds as OTL until the Battle of Britain. However, after the Bombing of Berlin, Hitler is convinced by his generals to send only a small bomber force to bomb London. British airfields are continuously pounded to ruin, and lose most of their offensive capabilities. On September the 15th, the Germans send over their largest air force fleet to the UK, in a bid to knock the British out of the war completely.

With few fighters flying, it is a total German victory, and the British air power is totally crushed. The Horton Brothers then come forward with a concept of the Horton Ho-229. At first, it does not receive much attention with "conventional" fighters being enough to attack and destroy enemy planes.

1941: The German invasion of Russia goes to plan, and by the end of 1941, they close in on Moscow. However, the cold and a Russian counter-offensive drives back the Germans. The T-34 devastates many German tanks, and it is ordered to be copied. Russian aircraft is also destroyed, yet many German fighters are lost to ground-forces. Therefore, a need for a fighter which can fly from farther behind friendly lines is looked into.

The Horton Brothers offer their design again, and it is looked into. The first prototype is to be built and tested to see its fighter capabilities.

1942: The Germans quickly use the Ukrainian will for independence, raising no fewer than five divisions from the country. Army Group South moved toward the Caucasus. Paulus receives an order from Hitler to divert his troops and attack Stalingrad. He disobeys, and instead launches his whole force to the Baku oil fields to the south. To protect his flank, he uses the crack Waffen-SS troops.

The Ukrainian divisions are sent in first, and they lose a significant portion of their ability to fight. However, it helps soften up the Soviet defenders, and when the main German attack comes, they shatter the Russian ability to fight. The oil fields are captured, and the Russian units in the area soon lose their main source of fuel.

The Germans first send in their SS Divisions, supported by the remainder of the Ukrainian forces to Stalingrad to capture the city. However, this is just a decoy for the main offensive. The German Army Group South then swings around and attacks the two Soviet armies from their flank. The Russians, already short of fuel, begin to fold and soldiers surrender in the thousands. Along with surrendered soldiers comes all their equipment.

Meanwhile, the Horton is tested, and works flawlessly. It is decided not to use the aircraft in the east yet. When the year ends, over 200 have been constructed. Their Horton 18 jet bomber design also receives some attention, yet it is nothing major.

In America, an act is passed which would create a state for Jews in Sitka. Many American Jews soon migrate to the new land for Jews. They are joined by the hundreds of thousands of Jews coming in from Europe itself.

Endgame (1943-1946)

1943:

The Horton 229 is shipped and is deployed to the front. In Africa, the British troops continue to fight in Egypt. However, a counterattack early in 1943 drives the British back. In the Third Battle of El-Alamein, the British are soundly defeated. Disaster strikes, and the Suez comes firmly into German hands.

From here, the Germans fund Azad Hind. Hitler personally visits them, and in his meeting with Shubas Chandra Bose, it is said that he altered his ideology to include the element of Aryan superiority.

In Russia, the Soviets throw everything at the Germans, and manage to push back Army Group Centre. However, they have lost much of their equipment in the South, and face a shortage of equipment and supplies. The Germans ready their armies and a battle takes place at Kursk which will decide the future of the world. The two sides have an artillery barrage, followed by a full armoured assault. The Soviets seem to have the initial advantage, and the Germans retreat. However, the German tanks find themselves at a better position as their cannons can strike farther than the enemy's tanks. 

The tank duel leaves hundreds of tank carcasses, most of them being Russian. The Germans counterattack in a full frontal assault and destroy the Russians in the battle. From here they move toward the heartland of Moscow. Leningrad falls too, with the Soviets being cut off from the rear. The Soviet Union was falling in on itself.

Yet, at the end of the year, an event would happen which would change everything. The Japanese Empire had been continuously expanding in the background to all the mess in Europe. Its war with China had yielded it many a success, and it had under its banner most of East China and South East Asia. Yet they had wanted more and had been biding their time. On December the 7th, they struck, with all their air might, the base of Pearl Harbor. Catching the Americans by surprise, they managed to hit all four of their carriers and destroyed numerous destroyers and cruisers along with the oil depots. The Americans would lose three of their four carriers, but the last carrier would manage to be repaired and would go on to earn the name of invincible. Its name, the USS Enterprise.

1944: The Japanese would begin the year by launching an invasion of Russian Manchuria and the Kamchatka peninsula, quickly overrunning the Russian defences. The Russians were too busy in the west to respond with force, and the only opponent the Japanese would find troublesome would be the fierce cold. Thousands are killed by frostbite, yet the Japanese hold on. They also face America's naval forces in the Pacific. The Japanese end up losing the Battle of Midway, yet overrun the Americans in the Philippines and other islands in the Pacific. The Americans adopt a policy of "containment", to keep the Japanese out of American waters.

The Russians fall back to Moscow, to make their last stand. The city is defended fanatically, but after three months of fighting, falls to German troops. But the Russians do not lose hope, far from it. Stalin and the rest of the Committee make it across the Urals to Omsk, declaring it their new capital. Russian industry is already behind the Urals, and from here, Stalin issues his famous decree, "not a STEP back!". The Urals become the most heavily defended mountain range on the planet by the end of '44.

The British finally manage to rebuild their air force - following American support. In the spring, American troops move into the UK, followed by their air force, and for the first time in three years - the Germans face an air threat in the west.

1945: The British, with American support, launch a renewed offensive in the deserts of Africa. An invasion of Algeria and Tunisia is carried out by Allied forces, yet the Italians (with German weapons and a German General) manage to drag the offensives to a halt. In the meanwhile, the Americans go on to secure Liberia and Sierra Leone, making it a base for their operations in the area.

The Germans now began to fight a war of attrition with the Soviets, although no major action takes place. The Soviets would get a respite in the Urals, while the Germans focused in the south - around the Aral. The area would become one of the most bloody spots of the war, with neither side getting the upper hand in the area. Eventually, both sides begin to make heavy defences in the area, 15 km from each other.

The face of Europe would soon change. The Germans would finally launch Sealion on July the 6th, smashing through British defences in Dover and Exeter. The Royal Family was soon evacuated to Canada, and they would be followed by no less than six million British men, women and children. Iceland would be used as a stopover base for the evacuation. Yet the war in Britain would continue, and the Germans would go on to capture London and then Glasgow.

In the Pacific, the Americans launched offensives into Japanese-held islands, yet they would be repulsed by the Japanese naval power. The war would drag on, but the Americas would be able to make a difference at Port Moseby and in New Guinea itself, keeping it firmly in Australian and allied hands.

1946: The last year of the war would begin with the invasion of Ireland by Axis forces. The allies would do everything in their path to stop the Germans, yet the Axis war machine would keep on marching. Britain would be placed under a the puppet government of Lee Oswald. The British, in their desperate attempt to stop the German fighters would use their first jet fighters, Meteor F.3s to great effect. Yet it would turn out to be too little, too late.

In the Pacific, a stalemate would develop. After a scramble for Dutch Indonesia by both sides, the borders would be drawn, and many inconclusive naval confrontations would take place. Eventually, both sides would sue for a ceasefire and an end to the war.

In Geneva  this would take place. The Allies, now only Australia and America, and the Axis would sign a ceasefire agreement, and both sides would recognise the borders of each others nations.

1947: The first nuke explodes.
