The Sassanid Empire (officially in Persian, Iran: Pahlavi: translated into Ērānshahr) was a state considered to be the third ethnically Persian dynasty in Iran (after the Arsacid Empire and the Achaemenid Empire. The Empire has had centuries of weakness and strength, from losing most of its Middle Eastern economic (if not cultural) centre to returning it (and many other territories) by the 850s.
