The Global Democracy League, or GDL, is a military alliance that was first established in 1937 by Canada and Iceland, whose joined military forces then liberated Greenland from Danish rule and incorporated the newly independent nation into the alliance. Following the incorporation of Italy, Kurdistan, and Azeria into the organization, the organization was renamed into the Global Democracy League, since the organization expanded away from the North Atlantic into the Mediterranean and Middle East.

Italian/Kurdish/Azerian Membership[]

Canada: We, the Canadian Government, have asked Greenland and Iceland, our fellow NATO members, to discuss about Italy's, Kurdistan's, and Azeria's application to NATO. I, Prime Minister McKenzie, supports the movement to allow these three nations into NATO. If they do become members, I suggest we rename NATO into the Global Democracy League or GDL.

Iceland: I believe that these nations have the right to affiliate themselves with NATO if they wish, although unsure to the sudden change of alliance by Mussolini's Italy. On behalf of the Icelandic people, I fully support the bids they are making for membership and also agree to a renaming of the organisation; Global Democracy League / GDL.

Canada: All right then. Italy, Kurdistan, and Azeria, Welcome to NATO. Soon to be GDL.

Italy suggest either keeping the name NATO, or renaming it the Democratic Intercontinental Treaty Organization, which gives us DITO and allows the same basic charter and values, while giving.us a very easily remembered nickname; DITO. And it would work because we would be in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Azeria: Azeria thanks NATO for membership, and supports changing the name to DITO.

Kurdistan: Kurdistan thanks NATO for membership, and supports changing the name to DITO.

Italy: Italy thanks NATO for membership. Italian forces will be sent to aid in Denmark.
