History

Louisiana was colonized by the French on the 1700's and 1800's. On the 1760s, they lost all of Louisiana east of the Mississippi to England, and had to compensate Spain with Louisiana west of the Mississippi River. However, on 1795, the French government asked the Spanish to return Louisiana, which they accepted. On 1810, the U.S asked to buy Louisiana from the French. The French refuse.
