The Principality of Kiev (Ruthenian: Київське князівство) is a medium-sized Eastern European nation bordered to the north and east by the Tsardom of Russia, to the south by Ottoman Crimea and the Black Sea, and to the west by the Tsardom of Poland and the Holy Bulgarian Empire.
Noted for its fierce war-like culture and independent spirit, the Principality encompasses a number of Ruthenian cities, such as Lviv, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Zaporozhye.
The Principality, after decades being subjects of the Polish crown, recently gained its independence in 1561. Soon thereafter, it waged an unproductive war against the whole of Islam to gain the Crimean Peninsula. It then joined in the War of Austrian Succession, taking large parts of Poland in the process.
