The Mayor of Springfield, officially Mayor of the City of Springfield, is the head of the executive branch of the Government of Springfield. The mayor's office administers all city services, public property, police and fire protection, most public agencies, and enforces all city and state laws.
The mayor's office is located in Springfield City Hall; it has jurisdiction over all nine boroughs of Springfield : Central, North, East, West, South, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest. The mayor appoints numerous officials, including commissioners who head city departments, and his deputy mayors. According to current law, the mayor is limited to two consecutive four-year terms in office but may run again after a four-year break.
The current mayor is Rudolph King Ford, became mayor after the resignation of former mayor Robert Milhouse Dixon. He is able to run for a full term in 1986, and is currently running as a candidate for the Conservative Party.
