The basis of this timeline is that instead of engaging in warfare with Native American tribes throughout the latter half of the 19th century, the United States recognizes four sovereign nations within its borders under the Treaty of Fort Laramie of 1851 - Lakota in 1854, Chinook in 1890, Chickasaw in 1900, and finally Navajo in 1912.
