The Illyrian Frontier of Cetina, or in Croatian Ilirska Cetinska krajina is an elective aristocratic triarchy, in which the three rulers called knez (plural kneževi) are elected in each region of the nation by a council of aristocrats for a given period of time (Usually 5 years). The nation was created shortly after the events of Chaos and was heavily influenced by the Illyrian movement. Because of this, the Croats of the Frontier consider themselves Illyrian, according to the hypothesis that South Slavs originated from Illyrians.
History[]
Pre-Chaos[]
Initially, these lands were populated by Illyrians, who were later conquered by Romans. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the ownership of these lands changed from various Croat nation states, the Croatian kingdom, the Bosnian kingdom, Hungary, the Ottomans, Venice, the Habsburg monarchy, and lastly Austria-Hungary.
Chaos[]
Initially, during the events of Chaos, all external control over this region vanished quickly, which caused more prominent families of these regions to attempt and sucessfully gain power. Knowing that they couldn't possibly hold this power by themselves they first united in their respective regions, with the three regions uniting a few years later in order to have total control over the Cetina river. There were minor conflicts among them, although the tribes who have forgotten their Illyrian ancestry are their major issue.

With the three regions of the nations, each one has its own council of nobles which elects a knez among their own ranks. Although the councils always retain power, through their ability to remove the knez with a supermajority of the council agreeing, the knez, on other issues, has the power of veto. He also holds judiciary power in his own region. Although the laws of each region differ in some way, every 10 years, the three councils and each knez meet in one capital in order to discuss the possibility of changing some laws in order to make them equal.
The government supports the belief that South Slavs are in fact Illyrians and condemns anyone who opposses that idea.
