Languages[]
Great Britain has no official language. However, English, Scots, Scottish Gaelic, and Camric are generally regarded as being the languages of the country. Languages are very much split down autonomous state lines, but English is spoken as a lingua franca across Britain, and it is generally the second language taught in non-English schools. Below is a list of the primary languages spoken at home.
- 76% English
- 08% Camrish
- 07% Scots
- 06% Scottish Gaelic
- 01% Netherish
- 02% others
Nearly 100% of Britons can speak English. In the same way, many more people know how to speak the other languages on the list than is shown above, as this list only takes into account primary languages spoken at home and does not take into account bilingualism.
The British Realms[]
The British Realms is an all encompassing name for the "British Dominions" and the "British Territories", the two types of successors to the "British Empire". The British Dominions are semi-autonomous areas that Great Britain nonetheless has control of. British Territories, on the other hand, have no or little autonomy, and mostly include global military bases, nature reserves, and places that are either inhabited only by the mainland British or are sparsely- or un-inhabited. The British Dominion is also not to be confused with the "British Commonwealth", which includes many former colonies, but is made up entirely of independent nations.
