  • Florentines are outraged by the Irish trial, which they call unfair. Lorenzo also cuts relations with Ireland, as Martin Lutero was under Florentine protection. Many people convert to Lutheranism within the Italian mainland. The Medici, however, stay Catholic. Lutheranism also spreads later in the year to Florence's American holdings, when several hundred Protestant priests leave Florence to spread Lutheranism. By the end of the year, Florence is mostly Lutheran.
  • The Pope refuses to excommunicate Florence on account of their Lutheran faith, as long as the leadership remains Catholic. He shows no remorse for the Irish execution of Martin Luther, but no particular joy for it either, as he was kidnapped from his own nation. The Papacy issues an edict to the Holy Roman emperor, the Hapsburgs, and the King of the United Kingdom, telling them to discriminate against Lutherans in order to keep their numbers low.
  • The Empire of Trebizond expands their African colony inward due to a mass migration of Greeks leaving overcrowded cities in Pontus and Georgia. The new settlements quickly swell.

There is an inner citadel with the same defenses as the outer walls. There are multiple markets, theaters, schools and mosques in the city. The Grand Mosque of Koltuk is the largest and most beautiful mosque in the Muslim world. The Black Rock of the Kaba is moved there. The city is fed by multiple huge aqueducts and ports for food, trade beside the multiple land routes. 1528[]

  • The emperor of Trebizond lands a sizable force on Southern Sumatra to begin subduing the native peoples there. As a result of massive overpopulation, the emperor begins drafting more and more Asiatics and Greeks into the imperial army and sending them abroad. Veterans of previous colonial wars are given tracts of land in Greek West Africa, while others are sent in ever-increasing numbers to become merchants and businessmen in the island of Sulawesi.
  • The Pope, frustrated by the growth of Lutheran influence, calls for a union of the Churches. Martin Luthero preached of the Papacy's corruption, and the Pope hopes something can be done to amend the points brought up by Luthero. He asks for a meeting with the Scottish and Florentine Lutheran Church leaders in Rome.
  • Ahmerrad grows in size. Sultan Uqias orders the construction of a new city in Somalia called Narra. The city will be built along the coast, and a huge palace will be built there. The empire expands further west into Africa. The elite Mamluk warriors, the Askari, are sent to help conquer land in West Africa.

1529[]

  • The Irish expand their military and the African colony.
  • The Ottomans expand their Australian colonies.
  • China expands all of its colonies.
  • Lorenzo II dies during his sleep, at age 89, possibly the oldest person in Florence at the time. He is mourned throughout Florence, as he brought the Republic into a golden age. His successor, Alessandro I, implements a series of military and civil reforms. He eliminates the Florentine exception of the tolerance policy toward Muslims. He also amps up and diversifies the Florentine Army. It modernizes its infantry, usually changing hand cannons for matchlock rifles. It is also diversified, as Florence takes up Middle Eastern, European and Indigenous American soldier types and weapons as part of the Florentine Army. The same happens with cavalry and artillery. However, it's the Navy which gets the most advances. It becomes larger and better armed, designed to protect commercial and transport ships crossing the seas. Some Medici also start converting to Lutheranism: the Doge, however, stays Catholic. Some Medici and other religious leaders also start sending missionaries to various nations: Ireland, England and the Ottoman Empire are the most heavily-targeted, due to political tensions and those nation's general intolerance toward Lutheranism. Florence also expands its Australian colony so that it takes up all of the territory between the English and Japanese colonies.
  • A man named Hayreddin Barbarossa comes to Sultan Uqias, offering to be a general in his army. The Sultan says yes, and Barbarossa becomes the lead general in the Mamluk Army. The army is modernized, musketeers fill the ranks of the Mamluk army. After crushing an African Warlord's army while conquering land in Africa, Barbarossa is appointed heir to the throne. Meanwhile, the Imperial Navy expands. Ahmerrad expands further along the coast of Australia. The navy constructs a new kind of ship. A massive 75 gun ship with 3 decks. Over 150 of these ships are made.
  • The Pope again calls for Florence and Scotland to negotiate for a Union between the Churches. He warns a major war may follow if they refuse. Meanwhile, the Papacy also rejects the Turkish offer for the Kingdom of Aram. As Florence is becoming increasingly Lutheran, he abolishes Florentine interests in Aram, but because of the doge's continued faith the Pope allows Florence to maintain Tripoli, Edessa, and Antioch.
  • The Empire of Trebizond overruns the last established Indonesian state of South Sumatra. The royals of each kingdom and tribe are executed as a show of power. This new block of territory becomes known as Greek Sumatra, in joint administration with the Greek East Indies. Agitated by the growing number of Lutherans arriving in the empire fleeing persecution in Europe, the emperor bars them from swarming the borders of his dominion and begins to enforce strict immigration laws for Western Europeans entering Trebizond or any of its overseas territories.
  • The English offer to help the Papal States in any wars against Lutheranim. They begin preparing their forces for a potential conflict, while continuing to persecute them.
  • The Hapsburgs start to realize that maybe it would be best to at least pretend they are trying toget rid of the Lutherans, in order to maintain their alliance with the Papal States, and to further their interests when the election for the next Holy Roman Emperor comes around. The Baffin Island colony expands and the Hapsburgs establish a bigger presence there.

1530[]

  • The Irish excecute any Lutheran missionaries. They begin modernizing their army as well. They begin working on upgrades to the Matchlock Rifle. They urge the Scottish, a longtime ally, to reject the heresy spreading throughout Europe. The African colony expands.
  • Florence demands that the Papal States give them Aram back, as Aram has always been a Florentine dominion, because the missionaries are not official, and that the leadership is for now, Catholic. Florentine troops stationed in Aram or other Crusader states refuse to leave the region. Alessandro, although he wants to maintain peace in Europe, is forced by the Military Forces of Florence to greatly increase the numbers of the armies, and that he modernizes them even more, as they are afraid that the Pope will soon declare war. Many Catholic churches are turned into Lutheran ones: Alessandro tries to stop it and send an army to detain the persecutions, but the army, in fact, joins the Lutherans in the task, as most of the army is Lutheran. Troops are stationed throughout all Florentine territories, but the most heavily armed are the territories of the Kingdom of Kemet, the Principality of Antioch/County of Edessa/County of Tripoli, the Kingdom of Saba, the Kingdom of Aram (even though it is not officially a Florentine territory anymore), Continental Florence, the Florentine East Indian Territories, Florentine North America, and Florentine Central America. Tensions also start to mount within Florence between Alessandro and the remainding Catholics, and another son of Lorenzo named Lorenzo as well, which has the support of Protestants and most other religions within Florentine territories.
  • The Borealian Lutherans invade Scotland, with popular support. Many working people have been disgusted by the decadence of the Catholic Church. The invading armies ranks swell with volunteers and the army heads to Aberdeen, the capital of the Scottish Republic.
  • John Calvin undergoes a spiritual reformation on a trip to Cabela (the Florentine Dakotas). He begins to see the corruption and innately hypocritical teaching of the Church, and is shocked by his previous actions. He moves to a small town in central Borealia, and begins work on an English translation of the Bible from the original Greek.
  • The Mamluks expand west into Africa. Ahmerrrad expands.
  • The Pope announces that Aram is not officially a Florentine dominion, but was shared between the Papal States and Florence and the Papacy maintains the right to reject Florence from claiming it. He offers to discard the old Latin Bible and accept a new, more accurate, version if the Lutherans can come up with one. The Pope also asks for a peaceful Union between the Churches. If the Lutherans will tell him what they want reformed in the Catholic Church, he will gladly accept them and institute them to prevent the European Church from tearing itself apart.
  • The Ottomans expand their Colonies. They ask the maluks for the designd for their new ships.
  • China expands its colonies.
  • France expands its Australian colony.
  • Russia, believing their navy to be far outdated compared to other European powers, begins a massive rehaul of the Russian Navy and builds many new ships based on the designs of British and Florentine ships.

1531[]

  • The Irish refuse to allow the church be changed by heretical terrorists. Irish assassins work full time to find Protestant Missionaries or Preachers and bring them to justice. They urge the Pope not to change the Bible. A very experienced Cardinal from Ireland offers to take the Pope's place, should anything bad happen. Meanwhile, the navy and military continues to modernize.
  • The Japanese expand in Australia.
  • The Pope publicly admits that the Latin Bible currently used by the Catholic Church hasn't been updated for centuries and could use a new version in more than one language. He also confesses there are many corrupted parts of the Church which do indeed need reform. He is willing to compromise with the Lutherans to stop a war in Europe. He addresses Lutherans everywhere in a speech from Rome, asking them to come to him with their reforms so he can work with them.
  • Calvin publishes the Cabellan Standard Version of the Bible ith little fanfare. However, as the year goes on, it is reproduced in many formats throughout English America. He enlists several of his friends as well as his former teachers at UU (including Alane, a fervent convert to Calvin's version of Christianity) to help him translate the old Biblical Greek texts into other languages. In addition, Calvin releases his Treatise on Faith, a small pamphlet expressing Calvin's views. (see talk page; I don't want to clutter up the main page with a bunch of stuff).
  • As religious tensions grow and grow in Europe, the Duchy of Milan begins to collectively realize just how small and backward their state has suddenly become in the past few decades. Lutherans from Florence and around Europe pour into Milan, either from persecution or a desire to start a new life in this small country, so far away from the political extremities of their home states. The Catholic royal family is unnerved by this new seemingly heretical branch of Christianity that has swept through the populace, but chooses to be tolerant only because the amount of Lutherans in the country vastly outnumbers the Catholics. Florentine military innovations reach Milan, and the Duke of Milan begins to seek a trading relationship with this much more advanced country. New agriculture techniques also begin to develop, albeit slowly, among the Milanese manors and farms, seeing a small population boost.
  • Florentine Lutherans, now led by Paolo Veregio and Lorenzo III, start translating the Lutheran bible to other languages. Most notable among these are the beginnings of translation into Latin, Spanish, German and Irish. Paolo also writes the Catechism (OTL Small and Large Catechisms), and the writing "On the Freedom of a Christian). The Florentines also enter into civil war when a Protestant general takes over the pro-Catholic city of Nuova Firenze in New Italy (OTL Medellín, Colombia). Soon, most cities are pro-Protestant and it is suspected that the war will be an easy landslide for Protestants. Alessandro has to move to Siena as Florence is pro-Protestant. Florence also amplifies its army and establishes relationships with the Duchy of Milan.
  • China Expands its colonies.
  • The Ottomans expand their colonies. Sultan Suleimon I personally invites the Leader of Milan on a tour of the capital city. In good faith he sends him gifts of spices, gold and dancers.
  • The Mamluks expand much further west in Africa. The magnificent city of Narra is completed.

1532[]

  • The Irish back the Catholic church up in saying that it is not trying to take over Europe. They argue that the Pope is God's representative on Earth. They say that the Church needs someone to lead them in the right direction. In the meantime, Irish Assassins continue to bring in heretics for trial. One such heretic is none other than John Calvin. The Irish also continue to advance their naval technology and the African colony expands.
  • Japan expands in Australia.
  • The Florentine Civil War continues as a landslide for the Protestants: By the end of the year, almost all of Florence supports them. The Florentine Lutherans also continue sending missionaries into several nations: most of the missionaries go to Ireland, the HRE, France and the Ottoman Empire. Florentine Lutherans also propose some type of alliance with the Calvinists.
  • Sultan Uqias of the Mamluk Sultanate dies. Barbarossa becomes the new sultan. Meanwhile, after years of expansion, the Mamluk empire finally reaches the Atlantic coast.
  • The Lutheran armies overthrow Jarl Karolos and his government. The new government institutes Lutheran ideals as the official religion. A new Jarl is elected. However, he is still of Greek extraction. Jarl Theseus takes power. He brings in an age of learning, separating church and state and investing him and his descendants as the harbingers of a new Lutheran age. The state that if Ireland cotinues to persecute Protestants, they will have no choice but to go to war.
  • Calvin manages to escape in transit to an Irish courthouse, and flees to Stornoway. From there, he sails to Aberdeen and asks for protection from the Scottish government. Calvin and Alane together publish the Cabellan Standard Version in both German and contemporary Greek.
  • The Duke of Milan is shocked by the forwardness and amiability the heathen Turk had just extended toward him and his small duchy, as well as by the strange and wonderful spices which the sultan gave them. The gold is of course stored immediately into the ducal treasury, along with the majority of profits from the trading deal with Florence. The Duke intends to use these funds in order to purchase the land of the neighbouring HRE principalities in order to enlarge the borders of a slowly growing Milanese population. The Duke of course refuses the pagan dancers to avoid the most unscrupulous of sins. Though the Catholic Duke Francesco II Sforza is rightly suspicious of traveling straight into the heart of heathen territory, his infallible curiosity and desire to see this growing and wonderous world overpowers his courtiers' protests. He excuses himself by claiming it a vital part of his holy journey. He establishes his only son Ludovico as his heir and inheritor and his wife the Duchess di Benevento as the child's Regent until he is old enough to rule. And, in the company of four of his handpicked bodyguard and his friend the Friar Lawrence di Verona. On his arrival to Koltuk Francesco is awestruck by the sheer innovation and wonders of the city, and of the Turkish people themselves. He spends two months in the Sultan's palace, personally walking and discussing with the sultan Suleiman I about matters both casual and important. Friar Lawrence writes of their experiences in the chronicle Two Months in the Company of the Sultan, which becomes published by the University of Pavia and spreads through Italy and southern Europe, especially popular among the peasantry. During his stay in the city of Koltuk Francesco comes to an epiphany concerning the pointlessness of religious conflict and of segregation between man and religion, and leaves Koltuk with a smile and with a farewell of "brother Turks".
  • The Ottomans expand their Australian colonies. The Sultan is glad his guest Duke Francesco II Sforza enjoyed his stay in our glorious empire's capital city. As a further invitation to a long friendship between the two nations, Sultan Suleimon I sends Some of the best scholars to help teach Milan's scholars, Military minds to reinvent their military and a renowned architect to help their cities.
  • China expands its colonies.
  • England gives guns and other weapons to the Catholics fighting in the Florentine Civil War. they figure that prolonged fighting there will make Florence less able to consest British naval superiority. They continue persecuting their Lutherans, and urge Ireland not to give in to the demands of these heretics.
  • The Hapsburgs open relations with Milan, and try to create a friendship between the two nations by loaning Milan money for infrastructure improvement, and business initiatives. Their Baffin Island colony expands, and they voice their support for the Popes efforts to reach an agreement with the Lutherans.

1533[]

  • Game 1533
  • The Pope issues a Papal Bull stating that he will allow every nation of Europe to choose their own official state religion (Lutheran and Calvinist faiths included) without excommunication or a Crusade against them if they will enter into an alliance with the Papal States. Meanwhile, uncomfortable with the prospect of a Lutheran Church on his own borders, the Pope sends the first 7,000 Papal forces into Florence to fight on the side of the Catholics. The Papacy announces that Florence is free to adopt whatever official religion they want, but they will not tolerate Lutherans overthrowing their own Catholic leadership in the name of religion. Meanwhile, the Pope staunchly opposes Milanese plans to expand into the Holy Roman Empire. He warns them that expansion into Germany without the emperor's say will result in a war with the Papal States and Habsburg Austria, both of which have made the HRE a protectorate.
  • The Irish relentlessly chase John Calvin, who is suspected of heresy, war crimes, and escaping detention. Meanwhile, Lutheran missionaries continue to be persecuted and killed in Ireland. Meanwhile, they urge the Papal states not to go into an alliance with Lutheran terrorists. The Irish amp up their military and improve their interior.
  • The new Scottish government grants John Calvin safety in Scotland and refuses to hand him over to the Irish. The Church of Scotland is established. The navy is remodeled along Florentine and English lines. The army is also expanded. Important Scottish leaders of the Lutheran Revolution are elevated to noble status, replacing those Greek nobles who opposed the revolution. John Calvin is given an honourary peerage as Duke of New Orkney (New Orkney is Scottish Greenland).
  • The English voice their support for Ireland's actions, and say that they will support Ireland and anyone else in a war against the Lutherans. their persecution of Lutherans continues. In a daring move, they seize Lutheran held Florentine West Africa, and graft it onto their colony. They say they will give it back when the Florentine Civil War ends.
  • The Hapsburgs support the Papal Bull. However, they urge non-interference in Florence. The colony on Baffin Island expands.
  • Both Florentine governments demand Ireland to stop its intolerance toward Lutheranism and Calvinism or face war. During the Civil War, the Catholic government receives a boost thanks to the Papal army, but the army is insufficient to take much land back. Soon, Catholic government is phased out the Florentine American colonies: Florence only remains Catholic within Europe. Florence also demands the English to give them back Florentine West Africa. Lutherans land troops there.
  • The Mamluks view the Christian Church conflict with interest. They tell Florence that they will support them in a war against England or Ireland if one arises.
  • John Calvin sets up a fortified monastery in Perthshire using money donated by his supporters. From this secure position he pens a letter of rebuttal concerning the crimes he supposedly committed to the Irish king. He writes "... You accuse me of heresy, yet I most certainly do not worship any pagan god or consort with the forces of the Devil. The Church itself is a heresy by declaring that it itself can better interpret God's commands than the common folk. God does not change his views based on what is most convenient for the Church, and the Church has most certainly done so over the years. You accuse me of war crimes, yet is the sovereignty of nations not violated when Irish marauders and assassins continue to strike down reformers and heretics left and right? Our followers do not follow the philosophy of hypocrisy, and if one who claims to follow our teachings, yet kills for the sake of someone being of a different creed than their own, then he is not one of ours. You accuse me of escaping detention. This is completely correct, and I have indeed broken the laws of the sovereign and blessed nation of Ireland. While you did unlawfully abduct me from another nation, I suppose I will humor you. When all this has settled down and I receive a letter written by your king's hand and another from the Pope, stamped with his seal, giving the promise of a free and fair trial on that one charge only, I will escort myself to the Irish Consulate in Aberdeen and turn myself in. If, on arrival at the courtroom, I am charged with any other crimes listed, or, indeed, not charged at all and sent to the chopping block, then all the world may consider the word and honor of both the king of Ireland and the Pope to be nullified."

Won't be able to upload maps the next seven days. If someone will take over this duty it will be much appreciated.--Emperor of Trebizond 20:09, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

  • The English tell the Lutheran Florentines to go shoot themselves. They tell the Catholic Florentines that they will hold on to the African territory until the Catholics have won the war. If they do not win, then the English will allow them to set up a nation there under English protection. The English deploy troops there, to drive off the Lutheran Florentines. The English navy moves to intercept their transports and keep them trapped in Africa.

  • France continues to expand its colony in Australia.
  • Russia continues to expand its colony on Greenland.
  • The ridiculously generous donations given to Milan by the Ottomans and Austria are not put to waste. With the assistance of the Ottoman scholars the library at the University of Pavia is heavily renovated and expanded upon with the help of Milanese funds. The renovation and expansion of the New Pavia Library should be complete by next year, and rumoured to hold thousands of books from across the world. Fueled by his experiences in Koltuk, Friar Lawrence di Verona establishes St. Benedict's School in the city of Milan in order to educate the poorer lower class children. Francesco II fully endorses this venture, promoting the idea of public education throughout the duchy, and soon five more schools are established throughout Milan. Milan also begins using the money given to them by Austria on the construction of a network of roads connecting the two cities Milan and Pavia to the surrounding countryside. The city begins to take over as the center of Milanese life, rather than the feudal manor that had characterized the last couple of centuries. The Duke of Milan also writes to the Holy Roman Emperor, as well as sending a good portion of the Ottoman gold, asking whether they would be interested in the sale of the counties and principalities that surround the Duchy of Milan.

1534[]

  • Game 1534
  • The Irish amp up their military, both defensive and offensive. By now, an attack on the Irish would almost instantly fail while an Irish offense would be nearly unstoppable. They begin to cut off Mamluk trade routes in response to terror threats. Meanwhile, hundreds of Lutheran Missionaries are killed to mock the terrorist nations of the Lutherans. They urge the English, Ottomans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, HRE, Papal States, and the Hapsburg Empire to aid them, should another Lutheran attack on Europe arise.
  • I'm having a bit of a problem with you, Crimson. In the first place, calling Lutherans terrorists has no sense since we haven't done terrorist acts. In the second, it's you who is trying to attack the Lutherans, not the Lutherans trying to attack you. And, as I have asked you before, stop killing or taking everyone you don't like. It's getting boring.
  • To tack on to Fede's statement, you have to tell it like it is. Don't just write propaganda and and stuff unless you are giving a exerpt from an actual document, in which case put it in quotes and give a bit of backround on it.
  • The Japanese offer help to the Irish. The military is expanded.
  • Both Florentine governments declare that they will not agree to the English proposition into Florentine West Africa, and risk with breaking the alliance between the English and them if they don't give it back. To give a stronger weigh to the menace, the two Florentine governments agree to a ceasefire in the Civil War. Florence is re-constructed into a diarchy, and now there are two kings and two legislative courts. Florence becomes the first constitutional diarchy since ancient Sparta. All the troops that before were fighting in between themselves move to the borders with the Irish and English borders. A few armies are sent toward Florentine West Africa, retaking most of its territory toward the end of the year. Military is amped up and education is modeled after Ottoman and Chinese values.
  • The Mamluk Sultan Barbarossa sends a letter to the Irish saying this: " My people have not made terror threats to yours, so I don't know what you are talking about"
  • Calvinism slowly spreads through the merchant class of Scotland and jumps the Pond; setting up small congregations in Borealia and Scottish South America. Small groups move into Florentine America as well; mainly in the Pampas and Patagonia.
  • The Ottomans expand their colonies. They offer to send some scholars to the florentines in exchange for some land.
  • China expands its colonies.
  • The English agree to give back Florentine West Africa. They are glad that their plan suceeded, as the Civil War is over for now, and the new governemnt isn't dominated by Lutherans. They say that they will only support the Irish in a defensive war against the Lutherans. This doesn't stop them rom persecuting their own Lutherans however. their long neglected West African colony is expanded.
  • The Hapsburgs reject the Irish call, saying that it is every nations right to decide what their religion is. They declare that the Irish have been totally overreacting, and their assassinations of religious individuals on foreign soil is a violtion of national sovereignty. The Baffin Island colony is expanded
  • The colony on Greenland increases in size, as Calvinists move to the Duchy of New Orkney. The military of Scotland is amped up, and the government urges Ireland to back down on its threats, lest it unleash terrible war on all the Christian world. A Scottish theologian from Aberdeen proposes combining Lutheran and Calvinist ideas within the Church of Scotland. This idea becomes known as Caledonic Christianity.

1535[]

  • Ireland expands in Africa and improves education. Anyone 6-18 must go to school.
  • The Mamluks expand their Australian colony. they adopt the Ottoman law that children must go to school until they are 18. Sultan Barbarossa offers Milan's leader on a tour on their capital city of New-Cairo. They also send 15,000,000 florins to them as a gift in exchange for an alliance. He also gives Milan a giraffe, a creature they had never seen before, as a gift.

The Empire declares Neutrality in the Scottish/Irish/Florentine conflict.
  • China expands its colonies.
  • Due to the compromise between the two religions, the Florentine scholars start teaching secularly, the first in the world. Florence also realizes that many colonies are only sparsely populated and starts a population program throughout Florence: Not only are people encouraged to immigrate to Florence, but bonuses are given to people that have more than two children. This also causes a population boom, especially between Florentines of European race, but also between indigenous peoples of the Florentine colonies. The military is amped up and sent to the many borders. Florentines also find the islands of Hawaii, and, noticing the fertile volcanic soil, plus the strategic location between Europe and Asia, claim it for Florence.
  • Hawaii was already claimed by Japan some time ago. It was not reflected in any maps. Look at the last archive.
  • The English keep up their killings of Lutherans in their territory. They urge the Irish to not be stupid, and let the Lutherans attack first, if they are going to. They expand their colonies in West Africa.
  • The Hapsburgs urge every nation just to calm down, and peacefully talk things out. They have no wish for war, as the religious conflict could destroy the current system of alliances or lead to a World War. They decide to temporarily stop expanding, to clamp down on troublesome natives, and to prioritize on where to go next.
  • The King of France declares a system of religious equality in France and its colonies as a result of the current religious situation in Europe. The king also sends a letter to the Pope, saying "maybe the possible way to solve the current situation may be a treaty, or a holy congress of the European nations."
  • Russia continues to expand its colony on the Canadian islands.
  • Poland-Lithuania demands for an more independent stance and that Southern Poland be returned. Riots begin throughout the Commonwealth, marking the first Anti-Austrian demonstrations since the last war.
  • The Hapsburgs agree to return Southern Poland to the Commonwealth. They urge people to not resort to violence, and after a period of negotiation, agree to grant Poland-Lithuania full independence in return for an alliance. Hapsburg troops begin evacuating the region that will be turned over.
  • The Pope re-emphasizes the Papal decree it is now the right of every nation in Europe to accept one faith as their own state religion, and that he will allow them to do so if their people really choose an official heresy, such as Calvinism and Lutheranism. He does not wish to provoke violence in Europe. Meanwhile, the Pope orders the Milanese to stop bargaining for the purchase of the Holy Roman Empire's land. He states that the kingdoms and people of Germany are not to be sold like goods on a common market, especially if only for gold. Papal troops are withdrawn from Florence after several years of action, and the Pope, cutting down on maintenance and administration costs for overseas territories, dissolves the Latin Empire of Thrace, giving it to the Hapsburgs for their continued loyalty to their Church.

1536[]

  • Ireland improves its interior. Steam power is discovered by scientists. It is kept top secret and it is virtually impossible for spies to find the results. However, the Irish have yet to find a practical way to create lots of steam at a little time. They establish a colony in West Africa.
  • Japan expands in Australia.
  • The Commonwealth reunites Wallachia with Moldovia to create the Kingdom of Romania and also place a Lithuanian nobleman as their king. It also begins to increase its trade with nearby nations while also announcing a reduced tariff on goods that leave and/or enter through their ports while also improving its navy. It also begins to join the Hapsburgs in protesting against the Irish continuing assault on other religions that differ from their own. In order to stop all anti-religious attacks on home and foreign territory, the Commonwealth proposes (to all nations) a Religious-acceptence pact that bans all anti-religion groups and also puts the responsibility of protecting those religions into the hands of the government.
  • Florence decides to counter the new Irish settling of a colony by uniting the West African kingdoms into the Kingdom of Mali, with Leele Fuli Fak of the animist Wolof Empire as king.
