Austria-Hungary had asked for peace with the Allies, and the only way it could do that was to join the allies. It resulted in the Rome Agreement, which had been set up by Emperor Charles I of Austria. It was originaly named the Sixtus Affair. Soon, Austria-Hungary found itself fighting against its former allies, and the course of World War I was changed.
