A Short History of Cimbria[]

Cimbria was a Kingdom established in what was the Province of Scandinavia of the Roman Empire. The Cimbri people had a long history in this area and effectively took it over after the Military Domination of the Province was overcome adn the Cimbri embarked on a long and extensive program of domination. There were five other tribes in the Cimbri region and three of them bowed to the Cimbri and were allowed to remain. The two that were not were cast out, or in some cases killed outright, and these were the Angli who eventually established Anglia and the Saxons who moved into Germania. The Cimbri began to influence other tribes in the North, though much more subtly and in a more economic than violent manner. These began a series of revolutions and battles known as the Second War for the North. The end of this war ultimately left several new Kingdoms with the Cimbrian Kingdom as the leading one. The King of Cimbria was elected by the other Kings to rule a new alliance made of all the several Kingdoms. In the presence of the other King of the Alliance the other leaders would be referred to as Princes. These Princes had the duty of electing the King, though he was almost surely going to be the same as the King of Cimbria.

In Cimbria itself the politics were somewhat the same. The three tribes which remained alongside the Cimbri, the Suitones, the Teutones, and the Herulii all had their own customs and language but were more than willing to submit themselves to the rule of the Cimbrians. The Suitones and Teutones, being the largest of theses groups, were moved into the northern part of the Kingdom (OTL Norway and Sweden). This was done out of fear that the Suitones or Teutones, or both, may revolt in an attempt to establish their own Kingdoms. After the formation of the new Alliacne, which was led by the King of Cimbria, his main priority was to see that it did not disintegrate. All of these tribes believed that it was due to their separation that the Romans were able to conquer them so easily and that only through unity could they continue to be independent. The capital of the Kingdom was originally called Jacobiensis and was the capital of Scandinavia. This name, like many of the Latin names for places and things in the Cimbrian Alliance, was changed to Copenhagen which means "merchant's port" in the Cimbrian Language. King Æthelred of Cimbria, and the Cimbrian Alliance, was elected by the Dukes of the others areas of Cimbria. This system was meant to give power to the local people of the Alliance but Æthelred himself was so popular that he and his offspring were able to use that as leverage to force the direction of the Kingdom and the Alliance any which way he pleased.
