The Danubian Federal Assembly is one of the two houses of the Danubian Federal Congress (a bicameral legislature). It is frequently referred to as the Assembly. The other house is the Council.
The composition and powers of the House are established in Part 4 of the Constitution of the Danubian Federation. The major power of the Assembly is to pass federal legislation that affects the entire country, although its bills must also be passed by the Council and further agreed to by the President of the Danubian Federation before becoming law. The House has some exclusive powers: the power to initiate revenue bills and to impeach officials (impeached officials are subsequently tried in the Council).
Each Danubian state is represented in the Assembly in proportion to its population as measured in the census, but every state is entitled to at least one representative. The total number of voting representatives is 500. Each representative serves for a two-year term. The House formerly in the south wing of the Hofburg before the building was destroyed.
