The most used variations are the Secdecim Partis, the Sixteen Parts, which is displayed to the right, the Nova Tabula Totius Terrarum Sive Orbis, the New Map Of The World, which merges Terra Graecorum, Terra Arabiorum, and Terra Seleuciorum into Magna Mesopotamia, makes Insula Magna part of Terra Insularum, makes Terra Frigus part of Terra Scythiorum and Terra Nipponorum part of Asia. Some less used maps, like the Magna Europa (Great Europe), make Terra Scythia and Terra Frigus part of Europa, or make them part of Asia (Magna Est Oriens, Great Is The East, does so). Magna Est Oriens also added Terra Nipponorum to Asia, and other maps have given Terra Frigus the upper part (the one that borders it) of Terra Nipporum. A mix of these various maps is also possible of course, and none is correct, everything is used. Currently, most people add Terra Scythiorum, Terra Frigus, and Terra Mauryorum to either Europa or Asia, and Terra Nipporum to Asia, but this can change in the next few decades (or years). However, Insulae Europae seems to be added more and more to Europa and some say that in the near future, Insulae Europae won't be used anymore. Do also note that, since there are no official borders, the exact borders of most continents are subject to much discussion, and maps only serve as a guideline of where the continents approximately are. Because of that, Magna Mesopotamia and the removal of Terra Frigus, Insulae Europae, and Terra Nipponorum is becoming more and more popular (along with the removal of Terra Scythiorum to a lesser extent, and to an even lesser extent, the removal of Terra Mauryorum).
Afrika[]
Arguably the most important continent, also referred to as Terra Carthagorum. The name is perhaps derrived from the Greek word 'aphrike', which means 'without cold and horror'. However, others say it comes from Latin, 'aprica' for instance, means 'sunny', and 'africus' means 'south wind' or 'rainy wind'. It could also come from the word 'afer', which means 'lands of Carthago'.
Terra Arabiorum[]
Named after the Peninsula Arabia, as the continent contains the whole Peninsula Arabia (and a bit more).
Terra Graecorum[]
Named after Graece, as the area of Terra Graecorum has been (approximately) inhabited by Graece for centuries.
Europa[]
Europa is more commonly known as Terra Barbarorum (land of the barbarians), but lately more and more people use Europa instead of Terra Barbarorum. The name Europa probably comes from the ancient Sumerian word 'ereb', which means 'darkness' or 'descent'. A fitting term, or so most people think, for such a barbaric continent, where everyone is basically in state of constant war against everyone else, and where murdering or torturing others is perfectly legal, and where in fact, anything is legal because officially, there are no laws. Another, less likely theory, is that Europa is derrived from the Graecean words 'Europe' which comes from the words 'eurys' and 'ops', meaning 'wide' and 'face' respectively.
Note, that in our timeline, we think exactly the opposite, thus we think that Europe comes from the Greek words 'eurys' and 'ops' and not from the Sumerian word 'ereb'.
Insulae Europae[]
The islands of Europa (in other words, Insulae Europae) are exactly that, a few islands generally north of Europe that came to be (approximately) the last 'uncivilized' places of Europa. although people lived there. More and more, the continent is added to Europa, and some say that soon, the continent will not be used at all.
Terra Seleuciorum[]
Named after the Seleucid Empire, as it encompassed the area of Terra Seleuciorum (and more).
Terra Mauryorum[]
Named after the Mauryan Empire, which more or less encompassed the area of Terra Mauryorum.
Terra Scythirorum[]
Named after the Scythians (or Scyths, which is used more frequently, and as such, the continent is also known as Terra Scythorum), mainly because most people only knew that the Scyths lived somewhere there, and as such, the whole area became to be assosicated with Scyths, even though others also lived there.
Terra Frigus[]
Terra Frigus means 'cold earth' or 'cold land', or 'land of the cold' or other variations thereof. This term was (as far as we know) first used by a tribe originating from Scythians living near the Mare Hycarnium (also known as the Mare Caspium or the Hycarnia Mare, which is the Caspian Sea) as far as we know, although how they know about Latin and why they used it still remains a mystery. Relatively recent studies show that it was a tribe of nomads coming all the way from the Peninsula Roma, travelling past the Mare Euxinus (the Black Sea) and the Mare Hycarnium, mixing with the Scythians along the way, and then went northwards to finally settle down in what we consider to be Siberia. Why they would travel from the meditteranean climate of the Peninsula Roma to the cold climate of Siberia is unknown though, but it certainly is strange.
Asia[]
While it was originally used by Graece to refer to Anatolia (and before that, simply the Eastern banks of the Egeo Pelagos (the Aegean Sea)), eventually it was used to refer to areas in the East. This caused confusion, because it also was used to refer to Anatolia. Some still refer to Anatolia, or even Terra Graecorum, with Asia. Where the term 'Asia' originates from is unknown however.
Terra Nipponorum[]
Named after the Nipponese (or Nihonese), who lived there. Another name for the continent, although far less used and then only if the continent only encompasses islands, is Insulae Asiae, the islands of Asia. Currently, Terra Nipponorum is (most of the times) added to Asia.
Terra Insularum[]
The land of islands (Terra Insularum) is composed of islands, islands and even more islands. The term 'land' should probably be interpreted as 'area'.
Insula Magna[]
The big island, or the large island, is sometimes added to Terra Insularum. Its name should be self-explanatory.
Nova Afrika[]
Named so because of its resemblance to Afrika,

Terra Mortuus[]
Terra Mortuus means Dead Earth, a fitting name for the poles (there is no real distinction between the North Pole or the South Pole). Some also refer to it as Terra Australis (southern land) because it was thought that a large continent would be south of the known continents (Afrika, Europa and Asia, which were the 3 main continents until people began adding continents (Terra Graecorum, Terra Mauryorum, et cetera), probably because the exact aeas the continents spawn was (heavily) discussed).
