The Republic of China is a nation in East Asia and a major superpower.
After the fall of the Yuan dynasty, the Ming dynasty had emerged in 1368 and launched campaigns against its remnants, and by 1387 the remaining Yuan forces in Manchuria under Naghachu had also surrendered to the Ming dynasty. Following reports of Japan discovering Vinland, the Ming dynasty would launch their own fleets and had established a colony of their own, starting with Guangzhou in 1512. The Ming would also establish colonies in South Vinland around the 1530s. The Ming during this time would undergo further moderisation efforts and more investment in science and technology.
The Ming later faced invasion by the Qing starting from 1618, though with Goryeo directly joining on the side of the Ming and Japanese lending their support, led to the Ming being able to fight back against the invading forces. By 1636, the last of the Qing dynasty fell to Ming-Korean forces, which led to its remnants split between them. The Ming later led a conquest of the western territories of the Mongols, Tibetans, and Muslims in the 1840s-1850s.
Following major reforms starting from the 1890s, the Ming dynasty would be succeeded by the Republic of China in 1912. The monarchy was disbanded in favour of a republic, and Sun Yat-sen was elected as the first president of China.
