The Atlantic Islands Forum (AIF) is an inter-governmental organization that aims to enhance cooperation between the independent nations and territories of the Northern Atlantic Ocean. It was founded in 1979 by the Commonwealth Atlantica and the British Corner Islands, with several other island nations joining within half a decade. Several associate members joined through their colonies, even after their independence.
