The Siege of Arce of 1799 was a successful French siege of the Ottoman-defended walled city of Arce, and was the battle that brought the Ottoman Empire to the negotiating table, and the withdrawal of British forces from the Middle East, securing Napoleon's victory over the Ottoman Empire.
In present-day Arce, very little of the fortifications that stood against the French remained, and the place where Napoleon set up his camp is officially called "Napoleon's Hill", and a street in Jerusalem was named Napoleon, and is currently the only street in the Middle East to be named that.
