Post War Period[]

August 10th, 1942, Onward: The Golden Age of the Third Reich begins with the surrender of England, which is celebrated throughout the Reich and its puppet states as Victory over England Day, or VE Day. Construction of new infrastructure and such begins throughout Axis Europe and Africa. The Final Solution is also halted, and Germany begins deporting undesirables to its colonies, except for several scientists which are held in Germany to work on the Uranprojekt (nuclear program).

Remainder of August: A massive rally is held in Berlin to show the might of Nazi Germany, and it goes as planned.

September: Third Reich Oil is founded by Karl Dönitz, who begins to take control of the oil fields in the Middle East for the Reich with Hitler's approval.

October: Construction on London begins to rebuild the city with the United States funding a large portion of it.

November-December: Little of importance happens.

1943: The United States, in order to protect itself from the Axis Alliance, signs a secret alliance with the British in Washington DC forming the Anglo-American Alliance. It is almost decided to invite the Russians to join, but is later decided against due to their non-aggression pact with the Axis. Instead the Americans begin looking into Latin America as a new source of allies.

The Third Reich begins redistricting its lands to form new provinces that can be better managed, and several areas of the Reich and Italy are annexed and made into semi autonomous areas within there empires. Italy immediately decides to launch an invasion of Greece in cooperation with the Turks, which allows them to advance quite quickly into the Greek homeland and force them to capitulate. Germany sends some ground forces, but otherwise is too focused in rebuilding to care. It will be known as the Mediterranean War. It will take roughly two years for the Axis to crush the Greeks fully, including some limited guerrilla activity.

1944: The USA signs a treaty admitting Portugal into the Anglo-American Alliance, which begs the question, what should the organization be called? The three nations agree to meet in Washington DC, and it is agreed to create the Anti-Reich Pact, or as it is more commonly called by the Americans and British, the Anti-Axis.

The Italians and Turkish finally crush the Greeks at the Battle of Athens with the help of German forces. Greece is divided between the two nations, and Greece is stripped of its sovereignty. German, Italian and Turkish scientists join together to work on the Uranprojekt, and it is expected to produce results by 1946 at the latest.

1945: Albert Einstein is killed when he is hit by a car in New York City. He was on his way to meet several US Army commanders who were interested in his theory on nuclear fission being turned into a weapon. With his death the idea of a nuclear bomb will slowly die away.

The Axis continues working on Uranprojekt, and some fruits are achieved, making the Führer and other Axis leaders more money into the project.

The Soviet Union begins massive military buildup and research into new tanks, with the T-34 being completed and beginning production. Soviet diplomats begin making overtures to the Americans in hope of reconciling differences and making an alliance. As of now however it makes no promise of progress between the two nations.

1946: The United States signs a mutual non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union, this is far from a true alliance, but it is a great progress from just a few years ago. The Americans begin looking into new tank designs.

The Axis successfully tests its first nuclear bomb in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan. Seeing the destruction it creates, Hitler orders massive military buildup, and he also orders it be kept secret from the Americans, British and USSR. The Japanese finish forcing the Chinese into subjugation in all but the far western areas of China, which after a treaty is signed with Mao, becomes the Peoples Republic of China, albeit with some heavy Japanese influence, it is not a puppet state of the Axis powers.

1947: The Anti-Axis Pact, seeing the fall of China, begins planning on war with the Axis in order to liberate the peoples of occupied Europe, Africa, and Asia. AAP diplomats begin arriving in South American nations trying to win over allies, but many don't want to fight the Axis seeing there great strength, and only Brazil agrees to join the AAP, which will have interesting outputs in the future.

The Axis continues researching into even more powerful weaponry. Germany is completely reorganized, with Occupied France being directly annexed into the Reich as well as several other occupied regions. The minor puppet states are allowed to keep independence, including Vichy France and Rumania. Here is a map of the pre and post divide Third Reich:

Post German Redustricting

With the Reich redistricted into five major zones, Occupied France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Bohemia are officially incorporated into the Reich, with the five regions being: the Atlantik (France), Tiefländer (Lowlands), Nordisch (Nordic), Vaterland (Fatherland), and Tscheche (Czech/Bohemia).

War of Obliteration[]

1948: Germany begins designing the V3 Rocket and outfitting submarines to carry them and V2. Both projects will be completed in little over a year. German production of nuclear warheads continues, and Hitler begins talking with his generals about the new Anti-Axis Pact, and it is decided that a pre-emptive attack must be launched soon using the new atomic bomb. It is decided that the bombs will be delivered by V3 rocket from a submarine and that only major military and strategic cities will be attacked as to keep AAP civilians hatred of the Reich to a minimum.

The cites that will be targeted will be as follows:

United States

  1. Washington DC
  2. Norfolk  Naval Base
  3. San Francisco
  4. Manila

Brazil

  1. Rio de Janeiro

Britain

  1. Lagos, Nigeria Colony
  2. Isle of Man

Portugal

  1. None

Soviet Union

  1. Moscow
  2. Sevastapol
  3. Leningrad

With the cites selected, it is decided to begin ramping up tank production and fortify the Soviet border. After the list is made Hitler is reported as saying "it is sad so many must die, for the Reich to live". He actually orders that plans to rebuild the destroyed cities are made so that those who lost there homes and are still alive may return, with the exclusive order that the new cities must feel like the old cities, and so secretly many German architects are sent over to these cities and begin copying certain buildings and city plans so that later the city can be rebuilt in an American style.

The Anti-Axis Pact begins moving troops to strategic locations to invade the Reich and its puppet states and allies. Otherwise, little happens among the AAP.

1949: The research necessary for the V3 and for submarines to carry them is completed in mid February, and massive production of these new designs begins with nuclear warheads being attacked to every new V3 and even a few old V2s. It is decided to launch the nuclear attack next year on January 1st, at 6am local time to minimize casualties of civilians.

The AAP continues moving troops, but on December 21st, all members aside from Portugal are told to evacuate the target cities by the Third Reich in order to "minimize the loss of life". The AAP takes this as a threat of upcoming invasion and instead begins to pack the cities with soldiers and other areas of the military. Only the Brazilians and British do so, which will later appear to be a very good choice. But still the demand puzzles several Soviet leaders, as their cities are inland quite far and thus unlikely to be reached by the Nazi War Machine.s Stalin, having only recently heard of the German nuclear test, has himself evacuated while leaving everyone else to see what happens.

Also in Germany, Hitler's wife, Eva Braun, gives birth to a son, giving the German Reich a line of succession.

1950: In the early morning hours of January 1st, ten blasts of light engulf the major cites of the Anti-Axis Pact in a burst of flames and destruction, killing millions of people and forcing those nations into a panic.

Just a few hours after the nuclear blasts, German and Turkish forces invade the Soviet Union, meeting some limited resistance by the now shattered Soviet military, and within a few weeks there really is no resistance as many fear another atomic attack from the Axis. By March German soldiers have reached the ruins of Moscow and have occupied the Caucasus with there Turkish allies, bringing roughly half of European USSR under Axis rule. Japan, meanwhile, uses the attack on Manila as an excuse to invade and occupy the Philippines, and a few days after on March 7th Japanese troops land on the beaches of Hawaii, and begin taking the islands even against fanatical American resistance.

Meanwhile the beheaded American government, now leaderless as over 20 people in the American line of succession to the Presidency are dead, and no one knows who is next. With the destruction of DC and other major cites the nation is thrown into a frenzy, but not chaos as most of the state governmen6s are still functioning and have taken over the role of the federal government. But this will make the Americans no more a threat to Hitler or his Reich, and so he orders continental America left alone until later when German diplomats can get anything from the mess.

1951: The Axis takes the rest of what it wants from the allies that it can quickly through force, and then sends diplomats to the USSR, USA, Portugal, Britain, and Brazil, and under threat of another nuclear attack, basically take whatever they want, stripping Britain of its colonies, The USSR of parts of Siberia and Europe, Portugal of its colonies, and Brazil of some land near the Guyanas. The USA however, now decapitated, is basically ripe for the picking and Hitler orders four SS Divisions to land near Boston and occupy the city, which they do after some week resistance from the state guard. Eventually after this landing of Reich troops, more forces arrive and will occupy everything north of and including Pennsylvania, where there are ordered to stop by German generals as any farther would be overstretching. Hitler is outraged at not taking the entire eastern seaboard, but after he is calmed down, he sees that he simply doesn't have enough for that, and he orders no further expansion.

Instead, he orders the new territory to be organized into several military districts which will over time be turned into a new puppet state, it will be the last form of expansion made for over 20 years by the Reich.

After the Reich takes New England and the Mid Atlantic States, the remaining states organize into several new nations, forming the Confederate States of America, the Republic of Texas, the Republic of Cascadia, the Californian Union, and the Federal Republic of Deseret while the remaining state vote to reform the USA and keep it alive, including part of southern California which gives the USA access to the Pacific.

The USA, now greatly reduced, acknowledges the new nations and German occupation of the Northeast, and opens up friendly relations with California, Deseret, and Cascadia by forming an alliance with them to fend off any Japanese attacks. Eventually, the USA will sign alliances with both the CSA and Texas as well.

1952: The American Northeast is organized into the Union of American States as a German puppet state. It will, over time, grow to have its own cultural identity which will be a mixture of the region's own and Germany's, making it unique. Germany begins to integrate its new Soviet territories into the Reich.

The USA signs an alliance with Texas, and some plans are begun to eventually reintegrate Texas into the Union as an autonomous region. Cascadia and Deseret also have shown interest into that sort of reunion with the USA, and by the years end all will have signed treaties with the US beginning the process.

Britain begins warming relations with the Reich in order to better itself, and a meeting between the two nations' heads of state occurs in London.

1953: Deseret rejoins the United States as an autonomous region, making it the first. The concept of an autonomous region is actually new to the United States, and it is decided that it will pay some limited taxes to pay for defense of the state, but otherwise it will rule its own internal affairs without having to listen to a large majority of laws the Congress makes. However, it will have to participate in any future wars by providing troops, although they will be in their own separate armies unless the Deseret President-Governor agrees otherwise.

The US Capitol is moved from the temporary site of Chicago to a new site in Missouri, the city of Independence, which is separated from the state of Missouri politically and reorganized into the new District of Colombia, or Independence, DC. Construction of new capitol buildings begins as well as a new Washington Monument, this time to be tipped in gold. The move is defended as being near the nation's center and being far away from the coast and as far away from an Axis attack as possible.

Japan signs a treaty with the Soviet Union giving back land in Siberia in return for dominance over Mongolia, which the Japanese view as a good buffer state between the two nations. Japan also drops an atomic bomb on the Peoples Republic of China, then invading and occupying it. Tibet is left alone as the Japanese command realizes any more conquests are not possible if they want the Empire to survive.

In Germany, Hitler, knowing he will not be around forever, finally manages to get his wife pregnant, leaving a line of succession for the Reich, the child is born on November 19th, and he is named Bismark in honor of the Kaiser Bismark of the Second Reich. He will grow up quite happy as son of the Führer.

1954: The Republic of Texas, in violation of its treaty of integration with the United States, sees the collapse of yet another Mexican regime south of its border, and decides to invade Mexico in order to gain access to the Pacific Ocean. The Confederacy also sends troops to aid in the war, and it is known as the War of Mexican Devolution, and it will carry on for several years.

In reaction to the Texan-Confederate invasion of Mexico, Germany actually does little aside from trying to expand the gap between the two nations and the USA by sending weapons and aircraft to aid the invaders, although no German soldiers are sent, only a few dozen who just sit on the sidelines and watch. Italy, however, does send ground forces, which, after agreeing with the Confederates and Texans, will be ceded the Yucatan for its aid. This somewhat angers Hitler, but not to any real degree of action.

The USA, seeing the outright aggression of the Texans, Italians and Confederates, declares an embargo against the three nations, and moves some of its military forces to the Texan and Confederate borders in case they try anything against the US.

The Third Reich declares official neutrality in the current conflict, although everyone knows Hitler is sending weapons to the Texans.

1955: The War of Mexican Devolution continues, with some advances made by the North American Axis, but at high casualty rates.

The USA begins to re-integrate California, which experiences a plebiscite in all of its counties, and most of the northern ones wish for reunion with the US, while the southern ones wish to stay independent. It is agreed the northern counties will be ceded to the USA, but the remaining land will stay independent from American cotnrol.

The Republic of Cascadia admits Alaska as a state, although really the only reason for the union is the need for a common defense.

1956: The War of Mexican Devolution experiences the mostly bloody year yet, with casualties numbering in the thousands per nearly every battle. Howeve,r the North American Axis is beginning to turn the tide into a flood of victory as Italian troops, now completed in the Yucatan, aid the Confederates in taking the Mexican Gulf Coast.

The USA's current president dies, and his Vice President, Richard Nixon takes office. The new President Nixon demands a hard line against the Third Reich and the North American Axis, throwing all together into, as he calls it, "a global Axis of Evil".

The Third Reich, alarmed by the inauguration of President Nixon and his new aggressive foreign policy, declares an embargo between the Third Reich and the United States, but trade is increased with the Confederacy, Texas, Cascadia, and California to make up for it.

Canada, Australia and New Zealand meet in Washington DC, hoping to remake some form of new anti-Axis. The meeting will last several years, but with the aggressive American policies, the other countries view them as too much as of now, and they move the conference, without the Americans, to Quebec City, where they agree to form the QUEbec city Treaty Organization, or QUETO, and over time more nations will join the Organization who want nothing to do with either the American or Axis pacts.

1957: The War of Mexican Devolution ends in the Treaty of Austin, which cedes a large portion of Mexico to the North American Axis, devastating the Mexican economy. However, the problem is of no concern to the NAA as it means less competition on the global market.

California, seeing safety in joining QUETO, applies and is immediately admitted. Cascadia will also join in the following months.

With the formation of QUETO, the USA begins to feel cornered and isolated by its lack of allies, and it is decided to try to gain a new ally in the form of Japan, which although having an alliance with the Reich, doesn't much appreciate their attitude toward them. President Nixon sees the crack in the Axis and decides to manipulate it, becoming much more friendly with Japan and signing several treaties and trade deals with them.

When President Nixon is asked about Japanese-American relations and the current occupation of Hawaii by Japan, he simply states "we are now at peace, there's nothing that can be done about it". With that statement he seriously alienates a large minority of the American people, but in an ironic twist wins a large amount of support in Japan, who take the Americans' words as hope for the future and the possibility of them leaving The Reich's alliance.

1958: The USA, Japan, and Cascadia sign the Treaty of Honolulu, which officially makes the Hawaiian Islands part of the Japanese Empire, but allows the Americans to keep their businesses there, making the treaty being met with mixed results in the Senate and House.

After several days of bickering over the treaty, it is finally approved by Congress, and the Treaty becomes official. This will drive the German-Japanese alliance even farther apart.

The Third Reich officially incorporates Poland into the Reich as well as carving several new vassal states out of the Soviet territory, with those states being Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The Kingdom of the Crimea is also created, and it owns the peninsula and parts of the surrounding Ukraine.
