The Kingdom of Fiji, or just Fiji, is a sovereign state and Melanesian island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean and Oceania. Fiji is about 1,100 nautical miles (2,000 km; 1,300 mi) northeast of Aotearoa's North Island. Its closest neighbors are Vanuatu to the west, La Perouse Island to the southwest, Tonga to the east, the Samoas and France's French Polynesia to the northeast, and Rotuma to the north.

The Fiji islands were united for the first time under the Kingdom of Fiji. They remained one of the last uncolonized regions in a predominantly French Oceania, until decolonization began following the Pacific War. Today, although it is still a developing country with a large agriculture sector in its economy, Fiji is one of the most developed countries in the Pacific islands, alongside New Guinea, Aotearoa, and Hawaii.
