Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz (born August 13, 1926) is an American politician who is best known for serving four non-consecutive terms as Governor of Cuba, first from 1969-1977 and again from 1985-1993. Castro also attempted to seek the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 1976 election, which he lost to future President Ted Kennedy.
