Fahrgrave (Fahrish:Fahrbelenveer), officially the Republic of Fahrgrave (Fahrish:Elvereen eft Fahrbelenveer), was a nation located in central Damalias. It is bordered by Avgrov to the north, Tavra to the east, Evalonia to the south, and Arkasia to the west. Fahrgrave City is capital and largest city of Fahrgrave. Fahrgrave is member of the Damalias Security Council and of the United Nations. The official language is Fahrish, however, Damali is used as trade language.

Fahrgrave's origin dates back to at least before 1100, when it was a district of Baraton. As a district, Fahrgrave was located more western than most districts, bordering Arkasia. Following the Baraton-Vakalonia war, the Baraton civil war occurred, with several of the major districts teaming up and revolting against Baraton. Finally, around 1888, Fahrgrave, Avgrov, Tavra, Evalonia and several others became independent, with Baraton being effectively separated over a series of new states.

Later in 1888, the several neighboring states like the Grand Valerius States and Arkasia had requested embassies, so did an island formation on the sea known as Kernowal. After a series of disputes, riots started to happen in the streets of Fahrgrave, with which Fahrgrave was in turn aided by their new allies. Fahrgrave soon became stable again and finally resumed diplomacy with the neighboring Baraton nations. Most of these however refused diplomacy, excluding Evalonia, which did accept.

Nowadays, contact with Avgrov and Tavra remains limited, and even when there is it tends to be hostile.

District of Baraton

Fahrgrave was first mentioned as the name that would go for the most western district of the nation Baraton. While on papers labeled as Vergrave, the term Fahrgrave was officially coined by the government before the Grand Crusades.

During the first Grand Crusade, Fahrgrave remained untouched by the spoils of war, much like it's neighboring districts, Avgrov and Tavra. Arkasia, allied nation of Baraton and the Knights of Saint Joseph during the first crusade, used Fahrgrave as access point through Baraton to reach the Sultanate of Abbzir. The Duchy of Haveen was also used to move troops from, a nation that bordered Baraton.

Like during the first crusade, Fahrgrave remained untouched by the enemy, this time joined by the larger nation of Vakalonia, which threatened Baraton's independence. Vakalonia sided with the target of the First Crusade, which also allied themselves with the Republic of Neferinit.

Unlike the previous Grand Crusades, Fahrgrave didn't go untouched, and forces of Vakalonia had in fact reached and landed in Fahrgrave. Fahrgrave was conquered within weeks, and Vakalonia used it as a staging point and easy access point during the war. It was only in the last year, 1193 that Fahrgrave was liberated by combined Baratonian and Knights of Saint Joseph forces.

Baraton-Vakalonia War

Baraton, and by extend Fahrgrave, was locked in a war with Valkalonia from 1768 to 1774. While Fahrgrave remained untouched in the war, Vakalonia managed to reach neighbor Avgrov, but Avgrov managed to push the enemy back, and joint with district Tavra, they managed to push Vakalonia out of Baraton once again.

Baratonian Civil War

Fahrgrave was active member during the Baratonian civil war, joining revolting districts Tavra and Avgrov, among others, in their quest for independence. Fahrgrave was one of the first to claim independence during the war, doing it no later than 1875. Neighbours Avgrov, Tavra, and former Fahrgravean-territory, Evalonia, claimed independence in 1878.

At the end of the war, Baraton had collapsed, and Fahrgrave, Avgrov, Tavra, Evalonia and several other nations had been recognized as independent nations themselves. Fahrgrave however entered depression the same year, with a failing economy and riots throughout the streets.

After a long while fighting the depression, Fahrgrave finally recuperated from it, and opened trade relations with much of Baraton's former allies, including Arkasia, as well as with Evalonia. They also opened diplomacy with an over-sea nation, Kernowal. Soon, Arkasia, Kernowal, and newfound nation the Grand Valerius States constructed embassies in Fahrgrave.

Fahrgrave's geography has often been defined as beautiful by outsiders. And in the past few years, Fahrgrave has really been recreating their nature after the reconstruction of the economy. Fahrgrave has large forests and several large rivers leading through it to the Atlantic Ocean.

Fahrgrave has a long coastline to the south, leading from Evalonia to Arkasia. Due to this coastline, Fahrgrave is often visited by tourists during the vacation, and most of Fahrgrave's commerce relies on that.

Fahrgrave has a Sea climate, with considerably hot summers but much rain. Fahrgrave's winters were often very snowy and joined by ice. The average temperature is around 13 °C. During summers, the highest temperature that has been reached is 43 °C, while during winters, the lowest is 23 °C.

Fahrgrave is a Republic. Members of the senate were elected through provincial votes, which resided with the people of the member location. These elections officially take place every four years. However, when needed, the location can vote for a new senator party. This system has been in place since 1878.

The Senate of Fahrgrave is located in Fahrgrave City, the nation's largest city and capital. Fahrgrave became a republic through the constitution signed in 1878 when Fahrgrave became independent.

The Head of State of the Senate is the Chancellor, which is chosen by vote of the members of the Senate. The chairman of Fahrgrave is the Vice Chancellor, the public figure of the Senate. Both, the Vice Chancellor and the Chancellor themselves could be removed from their seat by a successful Vote of no confidence, or, in drastic cases, enforce a military intervention.

The Senate was composed of a seat for every province in Fahrgrave, and, in special cases, major cities. Every city or province was represented by four individuals which, within the Senate, go by the title of Senator. The senators for each province and major city would be reelected every four years, however, these could also be forcefully removed in drastic cases.

Unlike most Senates, the Fahrgravean Senate keeps parties active, like the current People's Republic Party. Parties are represented by the chancellor himself, which is elected every 5 years from one of the active parties.

Recent developments

Since several years, the People's Republic Party had been elected as chancellor by the Senate. Much competition has occurred lately during the past few years, including a recent Imperial Communist Party which has been active since before 1950, attempting to become the leading party.

Administrative divisions

Fahrgrave has 43 administrative divisions, making that there's at least 43 senator groups, excluding cities like Braton which are independent from these administrative divisions and get to perform their own votes, however belonging to the same division and district. These cities' authorities have more power than a generic town does, but remain part of their respective divisions.

These divisions are in turn part of districts, Recent elections shown an increase in popularity of the Imperial Communist Party, slowly but certainly lowering the support for the current People's Republic Party.
