The four nations decide that both countries have to be aided. Their combined fleet is stretched thin from the sheer amount of effort needed to rescue both the American and European survivors. Despite the hundreds of thousands saved, millions more die.
As rescuers move further inland, a surprising amount of survivor nations are found. Most are city-states, but it's better than nothing. Aid continues to pour in, as the operation continues for years.
Now it is 1980. There are serious talks about restoring the destroyed nations. However, the talks reach a stalemate when China insists on forming their own puppet states in Europe and America. The Australian government hasn't yet said or done anything about it, but they are the only remaining power able to go up against China on their own.
Eventually, Australia decides to:
- Reluctantly allow it.
- Condemn it.
- Declare war.
