Erie is the second-newest confederate state of the Mississippian Confederation. The first confederate state to be split off of another confederate state, Erie came into being following the ascension of Great Chief Zacharie to the throne of Mississippia. It was split off of Cahokia in 1579, encompassing large stretches of the land south of the Gichigami but east of the Mishigami Peninsula.
Erie has a good deal of contact with European colonizing powers, most notably Scandinavia (who is regarded with mistrust) and Roman Empire (who are allied with the Eriez). Additionally, the Allegheny-Genesee Canal will be constructed through Erie by 1585.
