Coat of Arms Second French Empire (1852–1870)-2

Coat of Arms of the French Empire, and the Symbol of the Emperor.

The Emperor of the French People and Empire is the head of state of the French Empire, and, although now considered a ceremonial figure head of the Empire, he possesses powers no other constitutional monarch has, such as command of the Armed Forces, control over the Service de Sécurité Impérial and the ability to call on and dismiss the General Assembly. The Emperor is still powerful enough to influence the choice of Prime Ministers, and his authorization is required before any election is to be called, either for the Prime Minister or the General Assembly, and the position also comes with the personal ownership of most government lands, including the palace of Versailles (the main Imperial Residence), the Louvre (Secondary, mostly used as an art museum and open to the General public), as well as multiple other palaces, castles and retreats throughout France and the Empire.

The Emperor of the French Empire is related to the first Emperor, Napoleon I, but the title has passed between different branches of the family, such as to Napoleon III after the death of Philip-Joseph from hemophilia, and in the case in Emperor Louis I, who never married nor had children, so the crown was to pass to the grandson of Jérôme Bonaparte, Victor. The current emperor of the French Empire is Emperor Charles, and his son, Jean-Christophe, is the current Prince of Normandy, heir presumptive.
