The Imperial Legislative Elections are due to be held between the 11th to 24th of July to select the next government of the United Kingdom of the first governments of Australia, Canada, India, South Africa and Westralia. The Queen has initiated a Royal Tour, which will last about two years, and will take her and the Royal Family around the UK, before heading the Manchester to travel to Quebec, Canada.

The United States continues to be torn apart both from within and without as the American Civil War causes civil unrest. The Coalition meanwhile, continues to carve up parts of the United States. Britain now occupies three states along the Great Lakes and Washington State; Texas remains independent and the Confederate States advances farther into US territory with the assistance of Britain, Austria and France.

Nine-year-old Tsai-chun Aisin-Gioro, the former Tongzhi Emperor, arrives in London. He is introduced to his new adoptive parents, the eldest son of the Earl of Gainsborough and his wife, and is to be treated well. He will be raised alongside the Gainsboroughs' two sons and one daughter; two other daughters have already grown up. Tsai-chun has already been registered into Trinity College in Cambridge.

The Imperial Family of Japan has arrived in Quebec to begin what is hoped to be a temporary exile from their homeland.

  • Argentine Republic: President Martinez and congress are finally discussing how the new constitution should be structured and imposed. The city hall, and many other government buildings are finally being built in the federal state, along with trade ports which are opening all over Argentina’s coast. President Martinez expands all foreign trade especially for Austria. President Martinez vows to take down Chile in three years and mobilizing of the army is continued. We send another 1000 troops to aid Patagonia for their war with Chile. We are sorry that we are not able to directly wage war due to insufficient military commanding. We ask Austria for better technology military equipment and their blueprints.
    • Austrian Diplomacy (Secret): We send to Argentina better tech, military equipment and blueprints as asked, but we also send them military advisors to help them improve their army.
  • Hawaii: We send more forces into Tahiti, 4000 more infantry and 500 more cannoneers. In our hopes of becoming more connected to the world, we endorse opening newspapers in Honolulu and Kailua-Kona. To house the Hawaiian parliament, we begin construction of Aliʻiōlani Hale in Honolulu (seven years earlier than OTL); it should be finished by 1869. To help boost commerce further, we work to start fishing industries off the coasts of cities like Honolulu, Hilo, Kahului (which, after doing research, I found also has a sugarcane plantation), and Kailua-Kona. To still keep people happy, we continue to host festivals. We find that our pineapple trade has led to cultural blending: Australian trade has influenced increased westernization, and Korean trade has surprisingly brought Asian culture to the islands.
    • We have achieved our largest victory over the Tahitians yet. We demand the Tahitians unconditional surrender and annexation, warning that they have nearly no chance in defeating the kingdom. (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED)
      • Argentine Dip: Our president encourages Hawaii to attack Chile! This would benefit trading between Argentina and Hawaii as the coast of Chile is obtained.
      • Hawaiian Diplomacy: While we thank Argentina for their offer, our preoccupied militaries are simply not in the right position to invade Chile with the current situation. Perhaps when Tahiti is conquered, the parliament will reconsider.
      • Tahitian Diplomacy (MOD): We will never surrender until the bitter end. Hawaii will either let us be, or destroy us all! Long live free Tahiti!
  • Russia continues to develop economically and in its infrastructure. We also declare war on Khiva after much preparation. We continue to influence Romania, offering them an alliance, vassalization or annexation (MOD).
    • Romanian Diplomacy (MOD): We welcome support from our Russian brothers, and accept an alliance.
  • United Kingdom: The Queen has begun her Royal Tour, and the entourage, after travelling around the British Isles, heads to Manchester to board the Royal Navy's HMS Warrior, bound for Québec City, where the Queen and her family are received by the 1st Canadian Governor, Charles Monck, 4th Viscount Monck. In Quebec, Victoria is crowned Queen of Canada with great ceremony. Meanwhile, the people, increasingly tired of the Civil War, begin lobbying the Government to end British involvement. In response, the Prime Minister sends a letter to President Lincoln imploring him to open peace negotiations. (MOD RESPONSE NEEDED?)
    • Hawaiian Diplomacy: Again, we request an alliance with Britannia.
    • Guatemalan Diplomacy: We are interested in the possibility of purchasing or signing an agreement of obtaining British Honduras from the British. As the land has no known valuable resources, we expect a reasonable agreement. We are also willing to offer full military access to Guatemala and to all Guatemalan ports, with the stipulation of a non-aggression pact.
    • British Diplomacy: We are willing to sell British Honduras to Guatemala, on the additional conditions that Britain be allowed to keep all existing military bases in Honduras, and that the Anglican Church in Honduras is legally, politically and physically protected from possible persecution by the Catholic majority in Guatemala.
  • Patagonia: Following the push on the northern front by Montessier and the help of Argentina against Chile, regions reconquered are fortified by von Kermann to ensure that they won't be taken again by the Chileans. Montessier began to plan an attack in Chilean territories, the first since the start of the war, since Chile is losing the war. Montessier once again believe that a good strike in Chilean territories would force them to sign a peace in favor of Patagonia and its allies. With 5500 troops, plus the 2500 Argentinian troops, Montessier led an attack for the reconquest of Araucania.
    • Argentine Dip: We urge Patagonia to eliminate Chile and not sign a peace treaty. We believe that we must completely destroy the enemy without mercy.
  • Great Korean Empire: Emperor Gojong continues the introduction of more structural reforms that are expected to modernise Korea. As the factory system replaces the putting-out system, Korean industrial complexes continue to undergo exponential growth, resulting in heightened production of petrochemicals, steel, vehicles, and machinery, and increasingly higher industrial output. Canals and paved roads are constructed to ease trade and commerce between industrial centres. More residential buildings are built to support a growing population. The Korean Planning Committee, led by members of the government continues to dictate Korean development, prioritising chosen sectors, and deciding on which companies should receive financial support based on their success. As a result, weaker companies are culled and remaining ones are competitive. Many privately-owned industrial conglomerates grow with a rapid pace, benefiting from heavy financial support given by the government, and domestic and foreign investors as well as free unrestricted trade with Austria, Russia, and China. A new culture; a mixture of Korean and traditional values and Western liberalism, continues to be heavily promoted by the government. People are given more civil rights; including the freedom of religion, speech, and opinion. Male chauvinism, misogyny and other right-wing concepts such as intolerance are continued to be discouraged. Western-style architecture continues to replace their Eastern counterparts. Western-style attire becomes prevalent among the wealthy and mandatory for diplomats and government officials. More schools, universities, and libraries are built to add on to existing academic programs. Hangul, Hanja, and Katakana are declared to be the three official written scripts; Korean (including Sino–Korean ones) words are written with Hangul, scholarly text is written with Hanja, and Western loanwords are written with Katakana.
    • Hi, just a little non-obligatory note: Use of Katakana in the Korean language doesn't exactly make sense, since the way the Korean and Japanese writing systems work are quite different (just in case you were not already aware).
    • I am aware of this. I would to add that if parts of Western loanwords cannot be written in Katakana, it will be written in Hangul.
  • Austrian Empire: We continue to build up our military. We continue to massively produce Werndl–Holub rifles to be used in the army, now at an increased rate. Around 200,000 Werndl–Holub rifles have been produced by now and are used in our armed forces. More Krupp C64 and C67 steel breech loaded field guns are bought for the army. Around 500 Krupp cannons have been acquired by now. We start to acquire Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns for our military. The Landwehr is officially established by order of Emperor Franz Josef. Its main purpose is to call up all men capable of bearing arms between the ages of eighteen and forty-five, and not serving in the regular army, for the defence of the country, when it is required. The Landwehr is to be used in the second line, in order not to delay mobilization. Service becomes compulsory for all men of military age, to be on par with the Prussian military. Every able bodied man has to serve to the in the army for one year, then he is released to the reservists for two years. Austria continues to experience a huge growth, now augmented due to the Treaty of Hanseong. Emperor Franz Joseph I implements reforms to reduce bureaucracy, making way easier for any private investor to open up a company, aiming to increase growth in our nation. Opening up an industry is easier now, while the state welcomes any opportunities, such as opening up new companies, with government support, as a mean of funding investors, to open up new industries.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We start influencing Romania, offering them an alliance, vassalization or annexation, to protect them from Russia, who seeks to undermine their sovereignty. (MOD RESPONSE)
    • Romania (MOD): Romania, aware that Austria's terms too involve the undermining of their sovereignty, refuses Austrian assistance, preferring to go with Slavic Russia.
  • British Guiana: We continue to improve our infrastructure and economy. We slightly recruit more troops to make sure some of them are consolidated. Also the population in Georgetown is growing slightly. The industry on Guiana is planned to be improved. Although the plans on Guiana hasn't yet delivered throughout this year as probably more cities are in progress.
  • Australia: We continue to improve on our infrastructure by planning to build a train line which will hopefully connections to go all of the mainland state capitals. This will be done in stages with the first one being from Adelaide to Melbourne and Sydney to Brisbane being done first. In terms of alliances, we do accept the Hawaii request (with Britannia's help of course) to aid them if needed. Over in Queensland, the plan to colonise New Guinea starts to take place with the plan to colonise it in two years and make it another state in Australia. Also happening during this year, the first Australian Rules football league begins in Victoria with six teams from the Melbourne region starting in April. They hope that in the future, their will be a national competition which will have all of the State teams taking on each other to be the champion.
    • British Diplomacy: We agree and immediately order colonists and military personnel to cross the strait and claim the eastern half of the island for Australia. The eastern half of New Guinea, now called Australian New Guinea, is admitted into Australia as a Territory, a component of the country controlled directly by the Federal Government in Sydney. Colonisation begins swiftly, with new settlements being quickly established.
  • Denmark: Parliament under King Christian IX becomes increasingly nationalist this sudden increase of nationalism members worries many liberals in the Danish parliament believing that this could be anti-productive toward Danish progressivism and the fact King Christian IX seems to support the spread of them. Nationalism in Denmark begins to spread as it promises to bring Scandinavia under Danish rule and bring a new golden age for Denmark they promise to modernize Denmark and increase our nation's standing. Nationalist members of parliament begin to preach this but the majority liberal and conservative members remain skeptical and opposed to this. However, some followers begin enlisting. Our navy increases by 20 ships. Our army increases by 700 men.
  • Papal States: The Pope is disappointed by the "Heavenly King's" disregard for his promise to renounce his claim to divinity, and orders an increase in missionary activity in China. Groundwork continues for the upcoming Ecumenical Council. Pius IX renews his offer to act as arbiter in ending the American War.
  • Guatemala:The second constitutional convention occurred February 5th 1865 and it resulted in the signing of the first Guatemalan constitution. Within the constitution contains the natural rights of all individuals and the basic law of government routine. It established that presidential terms last five years and also established that the legislative branch of the government will be made up of 100 senators. Two senators will come from each district and districts will be divided up based upon population density. Senator terms will last three years and the first election for senators will begin next year. Talk of the union between Guatemala and El Salvador continue as the president of El Salvador Gerardo Barrios and Guatemalan President Justo Barrios both believe that to achieve a strong Central America is through a united Central America. Meanwhile, the rebuilding of Guatemala City continues. Immigration in Guatemala is at an all time high with the new liberal government in place and Mexican refugees begin to come to Guatemala to move away from the American Civil War that continues to take a toll on Mexico. Immigration also is opened up to all and the amount of Asian immigrant also increases. The increase in immigrants is leading to more laborers and higher yields of Coffee and Bananas, Guatemala's leading exports. Plans are also being made to begin building a railroad that spans Central America, further connecting and uniting Central America. President Barrios believes that this may lead to a united Central America that he hopes for.
  • Toucouleur Empire: We complete the major roads connecting to the city centres including our vassal city centres. We break the alliance with Yatenga and we declare war for the conquest of the Mossi States. Our new vassals are spared this conquest and join the war on our side. With our 65,000 man army additional 10,000 from Mossi Vassals , we launch our attack. We use our general Samori to secure the area from Morovia to Segu as we build a railroad which we fund.

WARNING: All players inactive since 1862 will be removed from play unless they post this turn. Let it be known that moderators will not be spared from this clean-up either.

The United States sinks farther into disorder and anarchy as President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on Independence Day, July 4, by Confederate spy John Wilkes Booth following an abandoned earlier attempt by him on April 15. Lincoln is succeeded by Andrew Johnson, who many believe may possibly be the last President of the United States.

The Civil War continues to damage the US economy as major economic centres are taken by British and Confederate forces. Civil unrest becomes even worse as the government struggles to combat the economic crisis currently facing the United States, which may not stay united for much longer. (NOTE: United States' economic grading will fall in one turn.)

In the Imperial Legislative Elections of 1865, Lord Palmerston is re-elected as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. However, he stays in office for barely three months, as he dies on 18 October. He is replaced by his Foreign Secretary, the Earl Russell.

The rebellions in northern and south western China continue as the new Tianjing government fails to do much to combat them, and they threaten to destabilise the young regime.

The increasing influence of Prussia under her ambitious Chancellor Otto von Bismarck begins raising tensions in Germany, and threatens to destabilise the German Confederation.

  • United Kingdom: The Queen continues her royal tour along with her entourage, having now left Canada for Australia. She arrives in Sydney when she hears news of Lord Palmerston's death, and after sending a letter of consolation to Palmerston's family appoints the Foreign Secretary John Russell, 1st Earl Russell as her new Prime Minister to lead the struggling Liberal government. She is crowned Queen of Australia on 20 October. The Queen pens another letter to the US Government offering her sympathies and condolences in the wake of the death of noble President Lincoln, despite being the foe of Britain in this war. She implores the new President Andrew Johnson to enter negotiations with her Government to end the senseless slaughter, and states that she is willing to temporarily halt British advance into the US and British naval blockades of US ports if Johnson agrees to negotiate. (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED) She expresses shock that the Confederates are willing to do something so terrible to a good man.
    • British Secret Military: In case the United States does not respond or refuses to negotiate, an additional 15,000 troops stand ready to reinforce our boys already at the front, so that we can bring the war to a quicker, victorious conclusion.
    • Guatemalan Diplomacy: We are willing to allow you to keep your military bases in Honduras, so long that the number of troops remains that same and that you agree to leave after a period of 35 years. We also would like to agree to a non-aggression pact. We understand your concern for the rights of your church but since the liberal control of Guatemala, President Barrios has severed all Catholic control of Guatemalan law, and every resident of Guatemala is free to practice any religion according to the recently signed Guatemalan constitution. So although Guatemala has a Catholic majority, President Barrios believes strongly in secularization and will protect the rights of all English citizens in Guatemala.
  • Hawaii: We send yet another 1000 into Tahiti, in another minor victory. Seeing as Civil War in America has torn apart the continent, we ask that Britain and the CSA try to make peace. About 17% of Aliʻiōlani Hale is complete. While we encourage westernization and welcome Asian culture, we host festivals to keep happiness up and the Hawaiian culture thriving.
    • Hawaiian Secret Diplomacy: We ask the United Kingdom that in the event that the United States crumbles, they will assist us in obtaining American technology like steam power and rail-roads. In exchange, we will subsidise the prices of our pineapples in Australia and cede our territories in Kiribati and Marshall Islands to the Australian dominion.
    • British Diplomacy: In the event that the United States is dissolved, we agree to assist the Hawaiian government to develop steam power and rail-road technologies.
  • Guatemala: Produce yield of bananas and coffee continue to grow. President Barrios continues to pool resources to build more roads and increase the efficiency of the infrastructure of Guatemala as a whole as trade profits rise. Guatemala City reconstruction continues as the construction of the new legislative building begins. Talk of the Union between El Salvador and Guatemala are now in full swing as now the talks are not of if but when the union will occur. The liberal government of Costa Rica also begins to talk about their involvement in the new state once the union is created. It has also been decided that the new country will be called "The United Confederation of Central America." The deal for British Honduras begins with negotiation of terms.
  • Russia continues to develop its industries to Western European standards. Its rail linkages continue to grow as the large empire grows ever more connected. Trade from Korea and China into Europe flourishes and fuels infrastructure spending b the Emperor. The experiments of self-government in Poland and Finland have been working well so far, although many near the Emperor feel it is too early to tell. Alexander II thanks Romania from entering into the Russian sphere and sends military trainers to help upgrade our ally's forces. The war in Khiva continues as it becomes clear that Russia will soon be able to integrate the soon-to-be-conquered state.
    • Ottoman Empire Dip: We offer a non-aggression pact with Russia.
  • Argentine Republic: President Martinez and the Congress are halfway through writing the constitution. More trade ports are opened all over Argentina’s coast. The nation is continuing to mobilise and estimates that in 1866, Argentine Republic would have had another 8000 troops, not including the 2500 aiding Patagonia. We ask Austria for better technology military equipment and their blue-prints.
  • Portugal: Continues to push in Mexico. We continue industrialization, and land more troops in Macau.
  • Patagonia and Araucania: The lack of answers from the Chilean forces seems to indicate that the offensive of Montessier was a success. Troops begin to fortify the region in order to protect it against what is left of the Chilean army. After doing this, Montessier march with his forces (and his allies' armies) toward the Chilean capital. During that time, King Antoine I organized a celebration of the reconquest of Araucania.
    • Argentine Dip: Does Patagonia agree with the secret land split once Chile is down? (I sent it to the talk page..
      Chile conquest, Argentine and Patagonia
  • Japanese Empire: We begin to centralize our government, as with the coup against the emperor left a bit of disorder. We invited the Emperor and his family back to Japan and have gotten him back. We have made terms for him to have a ceremonial title of "Emperor" while the current Emperor will have the official title. We make an offer to any great powers that we will lease a port for 25 years in return for help in our modernization attempts. We allocate a lot of our income to our new industrialization attempts and begin the building of railroads and five factories (weapons). We begin to modernize our ships that aren't already (120 - 160) and will plan with the help of the British that we can get our navy on par with theirs.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We accept Japanese offer, we agree to help them industralize, in return for leasing a port for 25 years.
  • Austrian Empire: Emperor Franz Joseph I thinks that Austria should withdraw from wars in America should tensions continue to escalate in the German Confederation, in order to protect its vital interests in Europe. We continue to build up our military. We continue to massively produce Werndl–Holub rifles to be used in the army, now at even more increased rate, with tensions inside the German Confederation escalating. Around 400,000 Werndl–Holub rifles have been produced by now and are used in our armed forces. More Krupp C64 and C67 steel breech loaded field guns are bought for the army. Around 1000 Krupp cannons have been acquired by now. We continue to acquire Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns for our military. Around 200 mitrailleuse volley guns have been acquired for our military by now. Austria continues to experience a huge growth, now augmented due to the Treaty of Hanseong. We improve our infrastructure even more in Austria, Bohemia and Moravia.
    • Austrian Diplomacy (Secret): Emperor Franz Joseph I informs his allies (France, UK, CSA, Portugal) that should tensions continue to escalate inside the German Confederation, which are caused by the Prussian Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, the Austrian Empire will have no other choice than withdrawing from our common wars in America, to protect its vital interests in Europe, but it probably won't make much of a difference, because it's clear that our side will win. (MOD RESPONSE for France and every other inactive ally)
      • French Diplomacy (MOD): We understand, and wish Austria luck in her struggle to preserve peace in Germany.
      • British Diplomacy: We offer to send ships to help evacuate Austrian troops should Austria withdraw from the war.
  • Ottoman Empire: The second biannual Ottoman Games are held in Baghdad. These games are a major success and bring the whole Ottoman Empire together. Istanbul wins the medal table again with Baghdad being second and Cairo being third. We offer a non-aggression pact with Russia. We urge all the nations fighting in the American Civil War to stop their silly war. We build our military and our economy. We begin to expand in Africa again, expanding about 40 pixels. We hope that we can control Africa for a long time. We continue to promote festivals and other cultural events. We would like to trade with any nations which are willing to trade.
  • Spain: Economy, infrastructure and military improve. Population continues to grow, roads and farms are built or improved and cities continue to grow. More residential buildings, cultural and public buildings, commercial buildings, militaristic buildings, educational buildings and factories are built. Western Sahara, Spanish Guinea and New Guinea continue expending by 20 px each. As United States's ally Mexico falls, Spain declared war on Mexico and sends its ships from Cuba to invade Eastern Mexico region. Spain continues invading Maguindanao. Missionaries continue to convert natives in New Guinea to Catholicism.
    • British Diplomacy: Your missionaries, who are currently operating in Australian New Guinea, are to immediately register themselves with the Australian government as per the Foreign Missionary Act, passed this year in Parliament. The Act requires that each foreign missionary, especially those of faiths/denominations not associated with the Church of England, must surrender 20% of their personal wealth to the Realm Government, and thereafter be subject to a 10% monthly tax. Non-Anglican churches will also be subject to a 30% Church Maintenance Tax, while Anglican churches and those of denominations which are affiliated with Anglicanism will be subject to only a 10% tax. If your missionaries refuse to comply, they will not be permitted to operate within Imperial territory.
  • Denmark: The nationalists of Denmark are gaining more support with the common people as more and more people support new nationalist members of parliament. This worries the more conservatives and liberals in parliament as King Christian IX begins spreading more nationalist propaganda behind parliament's back. The propaganda is mainly listed to uniting the Scandinavians under the Danes and enlisting in the army this propaganda begins to make a splash. New Copenhagen continues growing by five people. Neglect in Iceland begins to take hold as murmurs of independence occur. Our navy increases by 20 ships. Modernization continues to occur. We ask the British if we can buy modern technology from them. (Respond in next post)
  • Australia: We continue our planning to take over New Guinea with ships going to leave from Cairns in January. We start to improve our military with 200 more people starting to be trained with the current gear that we have. The new railway system plan has hit a hurdle with towns to the north of Adelaide wanting the railway to pass them, while the towns north of Brisbane also want the same thing. In South Australia, plans have started to rename Central Australia because southern Australia is where Tasmania is. In sport, the Australian rules football league ends in Melbourne taking the trophy.

Britannia continues to pummel the United States after no response came from the US Government. British troops continue to advance, and the reinforcements sent earlier now pour across the border to join their comrades on the front lines.

The revolts in China continue, and threaten to collapse the young regime in Tianjing.

The American economy is now collapsing at an exponential rate, as Britain continues to attack the economic and industrial centres of the United States.

Civil unrest in the United States comes to a head when a violent protest in Boston results in the deaths of 200 Bostonian citizens, and 30 US military personnel. After this tragedy, fearing the worst, the United States Government calls for a ceasefire and the opening of negotiations with the Coalition.

The Imperial Family of Japan, after a year in Canada, is finally permitted to return to Japan and the Emperor returns to his position. During their time in Quebec, young Crown Prince Mutsuhito acquired a desire to accelerate the westernisation of Japan, and actively encourages the Japanese adoption of western systems of governance.

Unrest continues in Japan as the samurai and daimyo classes continue to oppose westernisation and the adoption of western policies. Rumours begin to circulate that several daimyo are considering forming a new isolationist Shogunate.

Please direct mod event disputes to the talk page. Thank you.

  • United Kingdom: We agree to the ceasefire called for by the US Government and volunteer to host the negotiations to end the Civil War in Quebec City, and they begin (see Treaty of Quebec). In attendance thus far are Britannia and the United States. It is assumed at this point, however, that the Treaty of Quebec will only bring peace to the northern front. Meanwhile, Queen Victoria continues her Royal Tour, and the Royal entourage after visiting all major cities in Australia, proceeds to Westralia, where she is again crowned Queen. The family then board a ship in Freemantle to take them to India where the Queen is due to be crowned Empress of India. The Queen, dissatisfied with the chaos in the Liberal Party due to its disunity, dismisses the Lord Russell from his position as Prime Minister and appoints in his place the Earl of Derby from the Conservative Party.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Apostolic Nuncio to the UK expresses the Papacy's disappointment at the passing of the Foreign Missionary Act, saying it is a great step backward since the emancipation of Catholics some forty years ago. [OOC: Also, just a side note, I think it is highly unlikely that Australia would enforce such an act on its territory. Australia has a significant Catholic population, and in the OTL constitutional debates, it was a high priority to ensure that there be no established church in Australia. Just saying].
    • Australian Diplomacy: It's been great having the queen come to our land and let's hope the alliance will stay for many years. [OOC: I think you're right on it, because we were a Catholic nation (I think we still are in present day) and we are going to say as a Catholic nation until the end of this game.]
    • British OOC: Anglicanism is the official religion of Britannia, and thus is also the national religion of Australia (there have been no constitutional changes to Australia, as all constituents of the Empire run on the unwritten British constitution). In OTL, the Anglican Church was the largest in Australia until 1986. Only in 1986 was it surpassed by the Catholic Church, so technically Australia is not a Catholic nation, but it does host a significant Catholic population. Also, to the Papal States, the primary purpose is to prevent the Spanish from expanding into New Guinea. Once the Spanish are gone, the Act will be repealed.
  • United Confederation of Central America (U.C.C.A): The union between Guatemala and El Salvador was officially signed April 8th, 1866. The previous President of Guatemala, Justo Rufino Barrios, is the President of the U.C.C.A. and all Guatemalan law is adopted as well as the Guatemalan Constitution. With the new Union, President Barrios continues his policies of secularization, modernization, and revitalization. For a week after the creation of the union, celebrations are nationwide as citizens feel more safe and represented with the new government, many feel as if it is a clean slate. The military also begins to be refitted, as the threat of foreign invasion increased with the supposed "fall of Mexico." The President would just like to remind all European powers that the U.C.C.A is determined to remain in peace and would like to resolve all matters or disputes diplomatically. Also, more refugees arrive from Mexico, seeking peace. The population is booming as the U.C.C.A is currently the most stable region in Central America. President Barrios still seeks to finalize the deal with the United Kingdom for British Honduras. (MOD APPROVAL?)
    • (OOC): I know I did most of this without any specific permission by a Mod, but really the whole process has been very thought out and is not beyond plausibility at all. Many times during the 1800s liberal regimes attempted to unite Central America, and actually they were almost successful on a few occasions. ~Dustin2557
    • British Diplomacy: The Governor of British Honduras is recalled to London, and the Union Flag flying atop the Governor's mansion is lowered and replaced by that of the United Confederation. Honduras has formally been handed over to the UCCA. British soldiers serve as a guard of honour upon the arrival of the Central American Governor in Belize City.
    • U.C.C.A. Diplomacy: President Barrios would like to send his graciousness for the civility of the British and would like to insure that the UCCA is open to any future trade deals or treaties in the future with the UK.
    • British Diplomacy: We welcome trade with the young Confederation, and wish them luck and success for the country. The Queen personally grants her blessing.
  • Papal States: The Pope is disconcerted by the rise of Prussia, and secretly encourages Austria to preserve the current status quo in Germany and prevent the rise of Lutheran (and generally anti-Catholic) Prussia. The Missions in China meet with some success, since the collapse of central authority means they are not officially persecuted.
  • Argentine Republic: The constitution is finally set up and is known as, “The Constitution of 1866” following the Democratic Diktat System. It is ready to be put in power in this year and many believe Argentina will boost as the constitution gives more power to the leader. The nation has also successfully mobilised 10,000 infantry. Current President Martinez declares war on Chile officially and move the army to North of Chile. We are hoping to obtain Chile’s north west coast for better trading in the Pacific.
  • Hawaii:
    Kanaka Maoli flag

    New flag for the kingdom.

Determined to conquer Tahiti, we send another 5000 into Tahiti, troop recruitment kept strong by the strong propaganda circling around. The Hawaiian parliament passes the replacement of the kingdom's flag with the old flag. About 33% of Aliʻiōlani Hale is complete. We work to improve infrastructure throughout the whole kingdom, including repairing villages in the occupied islands of Tetiaroa, Moorea, and Maiao. Repairs in occupied villages seems to somewhat improve opinion of the Hawaiians in those places, reducing resistance. In other news, Victoria Kamāmalu (fell severely ill in OTL, but not here) bears a son, so the Kamehameha dynasty shall continue when Kamehameha V (current monarch since 1863) dies.
  • Australia: We expand 20 px into British Guinea as we start to leave the Australian mainland and New Zealand into uncharted territory. But the expansion of the new territory is good for both nations with John Young saying that they won't convert any of the locals into Anglican in hope that it won't damage the reputation of the locals. Closer to home, the first part of the Adelaide to Melbourne railway has finished with the train track going from Adelaide to Mount Gambier despite protests from people in South Australia. While in Queensland, progress has been slow with Arthur Macalister (premier of Queensland) switching course and heading north to Caboolture. We also start to train another 500 men from Melbourne for the army as the threat of war with Spain is starting to be more likely.
    • British military: The Imperial government deploys 10,000 troops to Australia to defend the Realm against possible Spanish aggression in the future. 5000 troops are sent to Perth to fortify Westralia as well.
    • Portugal Dip: We guarantee our opposition of any Spanish threat.
  • The Russian Empire defeats Khiva early in the year, after a period of intense fighting. We send in thousands of Russians to help integrate the population and offer hundreds of thousands of rubles to rebuild Khiva's economy. Railroads continue to crisscross the nation as development increases substantially. Russia takes on the role of a link between the East (China and Korea) and the West, greatly improving the nation's coffers and the wealth of many businessmen. This starts to trickle down to the ex-serf class that is living in the outskirts of major Russian cities. Russia accepts the Ottoman offer of non-aggression. We also move then thousand troops along the Sino-Russian border to prevent any spillover from China's rebellions. Influence over Romania continues, as does training of their military capacities.
  • Austrian Empire: With tensions inside the German Confederation increasing, Emperor Franz Joseph I decides that it's time for Austria to officially withdraw from the wars in America, to focus in the German Confederation. Around 400,000 soldiers that we are deployed in America, come back either using the British fleet, or with some (commercial) ships that the gov loaned, that are escorted by the British fleet. We continue to build up our military. We continue to massively produce Werndl–Holub rifles to be used in the army, now at even more increased rate, with tensions inside the German Confederation escalating. Around 500,000 Werndl–Holub rifles have been produced by now and are used in our armed forces. More Krupp C64 and C67 steel breech loaded field guns are bought for the army. Around 1250 Krupp cannons have been acquired by now. We continue to acquire Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns for our military. Around 500 mitrailleuse volley guns have been acquired for our military by now. Austria continues to experience a huge growth, now augmented due to the Treaty of Hanseong. We improve our infrastructure even more in Austria, Bohemia and Moravia. We continue to build new railroads in Austria, Bohemia and Moravia. Emperor Franz Joseph I decides to follow a new policy regarding emigration, naming it the Emigrant Embargo Policy, seeing that immigrants are vital to the American-(and other immigration depended nations for growth) economies, decides to divert migrant flows to Austrian allies in the American Continent, by the extensive use of propaganda and by making easier migrating to Austrian friendly regimes in the American Continent, like the CSA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Araucania-Patagonia, while migrating to hostile nation, like the USA and Mexico, from a bureaucratic and access viewpoint, is made increasingly more difficult.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We guarantee the independence and territorial integrity of every member of the German Confederation, except the Kingdom of Prussia, in an effort to create a coalition against the Kingdom of Prussia, which seeks to undermine the independence of various German states. (MOD RESPONSE) We demand that Korea does an investigation, to find out who was responsible for the attack on the Austrian Embassy, as we threaten them with sanctions and withdrawal/nullification of the Treaty of Hanseong.
    • The Korean mod event was cancelled.
    • Prussian Diplomacy (MOD): We condemn the actions of the Austrian government in its treasonous attempt to sabotage the Confederation.
    • The Southern German states agree with Austria and begin to mobilise against Prussian aggression.
    • The Northern German states, furious with Austria for its traitorous actions, side with Prussia.
  • Spain: Economy, infrastructure and military improve. Population continues to grow, roads and farms are built or improved and cities continue to grow. More residential buildings, cultural and public buildings, commercial buildings, militaristic buildings, educational buildings and factories are built. Western Sahara, Spanish Guinea and the rest of Borneo continue expending by 20 px each. Spain continues invading Maguindanao and Mexico, pushing into Eastern Mexico Region. More railroads and more trains are built across Spain and its colonies. (Undo New Guinea)
  • Patagonia and Araucania: With the conquest of the Chilean capital by the forces of Montessier, Chile is defeated. King Antoine I join the Chilean capital where he announce the end of the Chilean Republic. He divide Chile according to a secret offer from Argentina, but surprisingly give the the Isla Grande de Chiloe to Austria, renaming it the Franz Joseph Island. (Argentine and Austria answer needed). The victory is celebrated, andfor the first time in its existence the Kingdom of Patagonia and Araucania is at peace. King Antoine encourage the Austrian volunteers to stay, and many accept his offer, including Heiner van Kermann, who is made Secretary of State.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: Emperor Franz Joseph I accepts King Antoine I offer, with the Austrian navy deploying some military forces on this island and setting up a colony, with some bureaucrats appointed by the Emperor are send to our new (and first) colony. Emperor Franz Joseph proposes to the Austrian volunteers (*Note about 25% of them are Germans, the rest are my minorites) to take their families and settle in the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia, they are funded by the state for this purpose.
  • British Guiana: We improve infrastructure and economy, whilst military is still yet recruiting troops, but now the plan looks to be their military defence. British Guiana hasn't set the sights on invading any country, as it stands that there's no plan. The population in Georgetown is growing, and at least slightly from some perspective losses. Although, the supplies in our country is looking to be a bit key, supplies might come when UK send some supplies, but it stands there's more supplies to be coming. (Sorry to miss a turn)
  • Ottoman Empire: We continue to honour our alliance with Persia. We would like to seek trade with most European nations, especially Britannia and Austria. We continue to build our economy and our military. We continue to westernise and launch festivals to unite the empire. We stay neutral in the American Civil War which seems to be lasting forever. We also honour our peace with Russia. Our people become sceptic about our alliance with Austria seeing as they haven't got along with each other before and why should we be allies with them. We continue to expand 41 pixels into Africa. We begin economic reforms to deal with our financial problems. We wish for Russia to help us with this.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We agree to a trade agreement.

The Northern Front of the American Civil War has stabilised, and fighting has ceased between British and American forces. Peace negotiations continue in Quebec, and it is hoped that a treaty will be produced soon. However, a cessation of the war in the Southern Front against the Confederacy is yet to materialise.

The rebellions in China grow stronger, and destabilisation of the Tianjing regime is becoming visible. Yet, the Chinese government has still taken no action against the rebels. The collapse of the Heavenly Empire is becoming an ever likelier possibility.

The German political arena becomes filled with Austro-Prussian animosity as tensions between the two rise to breaking point. It seems as if war is about to break out. Meanwhile, in Prussia Crown Princess Victoria, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and the husband of Prussian Crown Prince Frederick, continues to push for a more liberal Prussian society, putting her at odds with the conservative Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.

Finally, in August, Bismarck declares the Gastein convention null and void and annexes Holstein and in response the German confederation votes to mobilize against Prussia and Bismarck orders his generals to move into Bohemia.

  • Toucouleur Empire: We have successfully defeated or vassalized the Mossi states. We take Yatenga for ourselves but then gives Ouagadougou to Tenkodogo while giving our land to the other vassal. We have built around 25% of the Morovian Railroad and we have cleared the area for it. We continue to import goods and technology from Liberia to improve all of our industries. We place new legislation to tax our subjects at a flat tax of 10% including all people from the poor to the rich. After Samori has finished securing the area of the railroad, we get him to conquer the Guinean Highlands(OTL Samori’s State). Futa Jallon attacks Kaabu.(Mod Event)
    • Did you use the algo to figure out We have successfully defeated or vassalized the Mossi states.? Remember to use the algorithm to determine the outcomes of wars. --Orange (→My wall!←) 02:58, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
    • I did one for the Mossi states winning in two turns. - Thisismacedon
  • Patagonia: One of the first actions of Heiner von Kermann as Secretary of State was to officialise the name of the country. It was decided that although the full name of Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia would remain in some official documents, Araucania would be considered as a region, and not as a separate kingdom, leaving the country with the name of Kingdom of Patagonia. This was done to prevent civil war were one man would claim the crown of Patagonia and the other one the crown of Araucania. King Antoine I goes on his official visit to Austria. In Vienna, he makes a speech to thanks the Emperor and also refuse to recognize Bismark's decision to expel Austria from the Confederation. Preparations are made for the marriage of Adrien-Jean de Tounens, heir to the throne, and Béatrice Montessier.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: King Antoine I is welcomed to Vienna with celebrations in his honor, for his successfully reign and the defeat of its rival, Chile. Their Emperor Franz Joseph I discusses with King Antoine I about the future, he offers to help him create a network of railroads to make transportation in Patagonia easier, which could aid the local economy a lot.
  • Hawaii: To further improve economy, we work to expand existing sugarcane plantations on Maui. We are glad to see some level of peace in America, and ask the U.S. to set up an embassy in Honolulu, and if we can build one in Washington DC. We continue to press on in Tahiti, and we seize the capital of Papeete in an amphibious landing. By now, 50% of Aliʻiōlani Hale is complete. In other news, Prince Kamehameha VI is about six months old, and he makes his first public appearance at a huge festival in Honolulu celebrating the new prince.
    • The invasion is successful, the capital captured.
  • Argentine Republic: Former president Martinez is elected as the supreme senator of the Argentine Republic! We regroup all our troops fighting with Patagonia to Argentina and deploy on conquered land: Chile, 12,500 infantry, led by Justo José de Urquiza. In addition, Austrian rifle blueprints have aided us to develop our own rifles, 'The Urquize", with quicker loading techniques. Meanwhile, Martinez decides to reconstruct the country once and for all. Plans of railroads, infrastructure, and social services are all of planned. Finally, officials are sent to Austria and ask if they seek help. Argentine is willing to aid Austria if there must be a war.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We thank Argentina for their support and ask them to send as much aid as they can.
    • MOD: I said this is implausible. Do not delete mod comments, or you will receive a strike for disobeying the moderators.
  • United Kingdom: Negotiations in Quebec successfully end, with both parties finally signing the Treaty of Quebec, formally ending the fighting on the Northern Front of the American Civil War. The Canadian and Union Flags are raised above the State Capitols of Washington, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, the latter three of which are now integrated into the newly formed Great Lakes Province within the Realm of Canada. Washington is renamed, becoming the Province of Palmerston, named after the late Prime Minister. We request that the Confederate States end the American Civil War, as the United States has agreed to formally recognise the independence of the Confederacy. In Germany, we express our political disinterest in the whole affair, though the Queen does express her personal sympathies toward her eldest daughter in Prussia.
    • Is the Bahamas still ceded to the U.S.? Since it was agreed upon by both parties, I added it to the American terms before signing. --Orange (→My wall!←) 04:36, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
    • This has been agreed to. I added it to British terms before signing. — The Tim Man (TSWAHMGWContribs) 04:46, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
  • Australia: We expand another 20 px into the British Guinea territory as plans are starting to protect the land that we have currently expanded into. This will also help with a further 1500 men currently training to aid the 10,000 British soldiers that have come to the aid of our nation. We also open the first National Gallery of Art School in Victoria as the first students start to enter the place. The census for the nation is also revealed with the total population being 1.55 million people with most of them being in Sydney and Melbourne. Over in New Zealand, the Nelson Evening Mail is first produced with Edward Stafford becoming prime minister Premier of New Zealand. More plans for infrastructure, social services and rail plans will be in place as the main line continues to go without a hitch with it possibility of hitting Warrnambool by the start of next year while Bundaberg has been reached for the Brisbane line.
    • Here, New Zealand is a state of Australia. Premier would be a better term to use in these circumstances.
  • The Russian Empire is alarmed by the sudden escalation of inter-German relations. We reaffirm our alliance with the Austrian Empire, and warn northern German states of the threat to their sovereignty faced by Prussia. We send diplomats to Prussia to aid the efforts of pro-liberal Crown Princess Victoria in protecting peace and prosperity in our western neighbors. In Central Asia, we continue to integrate Kokand and Khiva as their economies are rebuild and new railroads begin to link the two regions to mainland Russia. We propose a new railroad, to pass through Bukhara (MOD), to link the two new conquests. Our military continues to protect the Sino-Russian border from potential spill-over conflict. With our new partners in the Ottoman Empire, we agree to send them aid in exchange for greater support for Austria and favorable trade agreements in the years to come.
    • Korean Dip: Korea would like to be a part of the Russian sphere of influence (just like OTL in the late 19th century) to ensure independence from Western imperialist powers.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask the Russian Empire's support against Prussia as promised.
    • Ottoman Dip: We promise greater support for Austrias war against Prussia in return for aid, preferably financial aid.
  • Saxony: We are alarmed due to the rising tensions between Austria and Prussia, which has turned into the expulsion of Austria from the Confederation. The people of Saxony, along with a sizeable amount of nobles, are sympathetic to Austria. King Johann I proposes an alliance to Austria. Other nobles, however, are worried about Russian influence in the east, citing that the Russians have been more involved in the conflict with recent years. King Johann I proposes an alliance to Russia. A meeting of the diet this year results in subsidiaries for industry, hoping to help encourage industrial growth. Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Goerlitz, Freiberg, Freital, Bautzen, and Pirna are the ten cities where industry and business has been subsidized.
    • Austrian Dip: We accept your alliance offer, as our interests are mutual.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask Saxony to support us against Prussia, due to our alliance.
    • Saxon Diplomacy: We agree to support Austria. We mobilize the Royal Saxon Army, consisting of 32,000 troops. The RSA, led by Crown Prince Albert, set out to meet Austrian troops in Silesia. We conscript an additional 28,000 men into another army: the Royal Saxon Landwehr. It is led by Prince Georg. The Landwehr set up fortifications upon the northern frontier, bracing for Prussian attack.
  • Belgium: We declare neutrality in the conflict between Austria and Prussia, as our nation is not prepared for war. We begin work on making the city of Antwerp into a trading port and offer trading agreements to the Realm of Canada, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and The realm of Australia. Additionally, we begin work on creating a new exploration ship, a steam powered vessel similar to the ship SS Great Britain (1845). It will take two years to create, as a vessel of that scope had yet to be created by Belgium. It will be used as a trade vessel, being able to cross the Atlantic in less than a month. We also begin laying down the plans to industrialize some of the major cities in the country as well, such as Brussels, Ghent, and Antwerp.
    • Australian Diplomacy: We accept your offer for trade.
  • Austrian Empire: We are shocked and insulted with Prussia's recent actions taken against us that's why we declare war to Prussia and deploy around 800,000 troops against them. Our main objectives are to occupy Silesia and the Rhineland. We continue to build up our military. We continue to massively produce Werndl–Holub rifles to be used in the army, now at even more increased rate, with the war going on. Around 800,000 Werndl–Holub rifles have been produced by now and are used in our armed forces. More Krupp C64 and C67 steel breech loaded field guns are bought for the army. Around 1650 Krupp cannons have been acquired by now. We continue to acquire Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns for our military. Around 1000 mitrailleuse volley guns have been acquired for our military by now. Austria continues to experience a huge growth, now augmented due to the Treaty of Hanseong.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask the states in the German Confederation that support us against Prussia, to join our war against Prussia. (MOD RESPONSE) We ask the Russian Empire's support against Prussia as promised.
    • Patagonian Dip: A force of 7500 troops lead by General Antinanco Saqui are sent to Europe in order to help Austria on orders of the Secretary of State von Kermann. King Antoine I explain that he doesnt have the forces to send more troops oversea to help right now, especially following five years of war.
    • North German States: Wishing to preserve the Confederation from the likes of Austria, the German states of Prussia, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Oldenburg, Anhalt, Saxe-Altenburg, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Lippe, Schwarzburg, Waldeck, Bremen, Hamburg, Hanover and Lübeck declare war on Austria.
    • South German states: In support of Austria, the states of Bavaria, Württemberg, Saxony, Hesse, Baden, Reuss-Greiz, Schaumburg-Lippe, Saxe-Meiningen, Nassau, Frankfurt and Liechtenstein declare war on Prussia and her allies.
    • Saxony: We agree to help Austria. (^ BTW, I am a player - not a vacant nation :( )
  • British Guiana: Military and economy is expanded. Shortly before, we're happy to see American Civil War ceased, with British and American forces peace a treaty. In other news, we expect them normally to have more supplies in Guiana, whether they'll be much more plan of the invasion, the plan is not yet revealed. The fortifications started to built to defend our capital city Georgetown between the other threats of the enemies. Most troops are been recruited in the military base and it could be a goal to have more recruitment of the troops as soon as possible. The population grows at the capital city, and some other cities, but few of them are looking to be almost finished.
  • Empire of Brazil: With the realization that the war in North America ended with the continuation of slavery, Pedro II, emperor of Brazil, has decided to take steps to ending it in his homeland, at least. Pedro writes the Brazillian Bill of Rights, which, while not only granting various rights to citizens of Brazil, also grants a huge amount of rights to slaves, categorizing their legal status as not quite a citizen, but certainly not property either The rights included the "Right to Life" (Murder of a slave was illegal and would be punished as though the victim was a regular citizen) and the "Right to Fair Conditions of Labor" (Slave owners would have to tally the slaves hours serving their masters and keep it under 14 hours). In order to ensure these laws were implemented, Pedro created a Police force headed by respected abolitionists the world over.
    • MOD: Uh ... what? I somehow doubt that every single abolitionist in the world would be interested in Brazil's police force. However, this is not impossible enough to warrant a strike, so I'll let this slide.
    • Empire of Brazil: I'm sorry. I meant to imply that every abolitionist interested would head the branch of the police force tasked with ensuring the rights were carried out. I'll try to be more specific in the future.
  • Swiss Confederation: The Tagsatzung, the Council of the Swiss Confederation, meets at the Château de Chillon in Veytaux, part of the Vaud Canton, for a historic week of treaty signing and promises. A monthly schedule of meetings is established, and the old system of complex interlocking treaties between the Swiss states is abolished with the support and favour of the Swiss people. Instead, the Vertrag für Integration und Harmonie (Treaty for Integration and Harmony) to replace it. The 456 article long (2800 pages) document is handwritten by monks in coalition from every monastery in Switzerland, and binds promises of integration between the cantons in Confederate law. An Ausschuss des Integrierten Justice, or Committee for Integrated Justice, is set up to simplify the legal system and ensure that every Canton shares the same wording of the law to stop confusion in court over inter-canton issues. Massive change and further integration is promised to be discussed and bound in law at an announced Zukunftskommission, Future Commission, meeting in six months time. Delegates from across the nation will attend and the future of the great Swiss Confederacy is to change dramatically. Rumours of change across the land spark great interest and confidence in the economy, with a minor rise in investment, and a strong showing in the value of the Swiss Franc. In a continuation of normal policy, neutrality in the Prussia-Austria debate in the German Confederation is announced. GDP is valued at around seven trillion Swiss Francs, with inflation at a steady rate of 2%. The Council announces a large investment in the Suez Canal Company, in return for an agreement to end the reported involuntary labour at the canal. To fill a labour gap, some 3000 of our worst criminals are shipped out as forced labour under heavy guard, with the support of local government, in a process copying British and French forced labour in industries such as shipbuilding and construction.
    • Swiss Diplomacy: The British Government is extended an invitation to enter a trade agreement with Switzerland, promising lower export/import taxes on Swiss gems and metals (some of the world's finest) in return for exclusive corporate favouritism of British sellers, merchants and distributors.
    • British Diplomacy: Our government is excited at the prospect of trade with the famous Swiss and wholeheartedly agree to trade agreements. In return we will provide raw resources (gold, silver and iron) from Australia and spices from India to Switzerland, which we hope will be able to make good use of these.
  • Ottoman Empire: We continue to honour our alliance with Persia and our friendly relations with Austria and Russia. We would like to seek trade with most European nations, especially Britannia, Russia and Austria. We continue to build our economy and our military. We continue to westernise and launch festivals to unite the empire. We state that we are glad that the American Civil War is ending and hope for North America to be peaceful for a long time to come. Our people become sceptic about our alliance with Austria seeing as they haven't got along with each other before and why should we be allies with them. We continue to expand 42 pixels into Africa. We begin economic reforms to deal with our financial problems. We wish for Russia to help us with this. The 1887 Ottoman Games will be held in Jerusalem, Jerusalem therefore begins preparing for the games by upgrading their housing and sporting facilities. We send diplomats to Russia, Britannia and Austria. With our friend, Austria, going to war we send 100,000 troops to the front line, with support for food so they can travel across Austria. We also would like an alliance with Patagonia and Britannia. (OOC: I'm flying tomorrow so for nine hours so I'll probably not be able to do a turn, but you never know).
    • Swiss Diplomacy: The Swiss Confederacy would like to sign a trade agreement with the Ottoman Empire. This would allow luxury Ottoman carpets, foodstuffs, armaments and silks a tax break when exported via Swiss companies through the Swiss Confederacy, cutting costs for exports to Northern Europe as the luxury goods could be stockpiled in Swiss warehouses and slowly sold off by the Swiss Confederation Trade Company. Slow selling would allow the highest prices to be received as it would prevent an influx of supply and therefore decrease in demand. Stockpiling and trading through the Swiss Confederation would provide a low cost portal to Austria, France, Prussia (if the Ottoman Empire is still trading with Prussia), other German states, Belgium and Britain. The deal would not only allow the Empire's biggest exports to flourish in the Northern European market, but also allow friendly relations with a stable and secure nation. It could also be considered the IRL the Swiss Confederation was the greatest arms producer in the world at that time (not necessarily in numbers but in quality). The boost to the Swiss economy would be huge if they were the Ottoman broker to Northern Europe, as it would give them control of the Northern European luxuries trade.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We thank our ally, the Ottoman Empire for their support in this crucial time and we propose to help them to modernize their nation as soon as the war is over, in return for greater aid.
    • Patagonia Dip: King Antoine I accept an alliance with the Ottomans.
    • Indian Empire: Following the Orissa famine, His Excellency The Most Honourable The Marquess of Ripon, The Secretary of State for India requests support from the British Government - including military support to help in the humanitarian crisis and to help police the empire; which is currently in an emergency situation. PLEASE NOTE I HAVE TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF MOVING THIS POST AS BY ACCIDENT IT APPEARS IT WAS POSTED UNDER 1865 BY Harvey.Bell- Emperor Romanus
    • British Diplomacy: The Empire of Greater Britannia welcomes the opening of negotiations for a possible future alliance. We propose a non-aggression pact and a multitude of trade agreements, primarily trading precious Indian spices for valuable Ottoman fabrics.
  • Denmark: In light of the annexation of holstein by Prussia which is a Danish crown territory we declare war on Prussia. We ask Austria for an alliance. We position 10,000 troops on the Danish-Prussian border with much more in reserve. Anti-Prussian propaganda begins to spread throughout Denmark emphasising enlistment and protecting the "motherland". During this tumultuous time the nationalist movement gains more traction and popularity with poll showing support of the nationalist and the gaining of more nationalist members in the parliament. Our military increases by 2500 men due to the enlistment propaganda. King Christian IX calls upon his relative the Tsar of Russia to declare war on the Prussian menace. We begin to position ships to blockade Prussian ports.
    • Just nitpicking here, but please capitalise names of places and people. I'd prefer it if grammatically correct English were used here. Thanks :) ~Tim

The German War begins as the various German states meet each other in battle; the Confederation falls apart entirely.

In response to the collapse of the Confederation, Bismarck issues a proclamation on the formation of a North German Confederation, to encompass Prussia and all her allies, excluding Austria and her associates. This new Confederation is headed by Wilhelm I of Prussia.

The rebellions in China have destabilised the Tianjing government, and the Nian militia has de facto control over large swaths of Chinese territory. The Miao declare independence as the Miao Kingdom, occupying the Guizhou province.

With British assistance, the American economy slowly begins to recover, though it is still very fragile and weak.

  • United Kingdom: We inform the Confederate States that slavery is no longer acceptable and must be abolished in their territories as soon as possible. They must fulfil their end of the bargain: We help them ensure their independence; they phase out slavery. If they fail to comply, we may be forced to turn our guns on the Confederacy. Meanwhile, our new trade agreements bring in new wealth and products into Britannia, such as jewellery from Switzerland, and fabrics from the Ottomans. The Queen and the Royal Family return to London after a two-year-long tour of the Empire. We secretly begin to mobilise our armed forces once again, this time aiming for the Netherlands. We plan to seize control of the Dutch East Indies and the other Dutch colonies from them and add them to Britannia. It is planned that the Dutch East Indies will be combined with British Malaya to form the Realm of Indonesia. We begin smuggling spies into Indonesia to scout out the terrain and military installations in the Dutch East Indies, and our forces in Australia prepare to go on the offensive. Meanwhile, the ships of the Royal Navy posted to Britain proper are readied to begin blockades and bombardments of the Netherlands proper if necessary, and to do the same in Indonesia. 400,000 troops are to be deployed to Indonesia, and 200 ships are sent to Australia to prepare for the Indonesian offensive. The Naval Defence Act is passed through Parliament, ordering that the strength of the Royal Navy should maintain a number of battleships at least equal to the combined strength of the next two largest navies.
    • Papal Diplomacy: Pope Pius IX praises the UK for its stern words to the CSA, and expresses the hope that with the help of British coercion, the emancipation work begun by the Catholic Bishops of the CSA will come to fruition.
    • Brazilian Diplomacy: We congratulate the United Kingdom on using its influence to phase out slavery.
    • Swiss Diplomacy: We extend congratulation to the United Kingdom for its views toward the abolition of slavery, and give thanks to the new trade deal that is helping our economy to flourish and prosper.
    • Austrian Empire: We condemn UK recent actions of intimidating our ally to do something that will make their economy collapse, while we agree with phasing out slavery eventually. (By 1880s will be ideal for the Confederacy in order not to create new tensions or a new civil war.)
  • Hawaii: To help the United States economy recover, we offer that they open San Francisco and Los Angeles for trade with large subsidations on our pineapples (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED)We officially recognize the Confederate States of America and the Second Texan Republic in a speech addressed by Kamehameha V. There are celebrations and festivals throughout the empire as both Papeete, which was conquered last year, has been secured by the military government, and Prince Kamehameha VI is one year old. Resistance is strong in occupied Papeete, and the military government is having issues putting it down. About 67% of Aliʻiōlani Hale is complete. We build and improve roads on Oah'u to improve our infrastructure.
    • In our largest victory yet, the remnants of the Tahitian military are expelled to the south-eastern end of Tahiti island, and Mehetia Atoll. It is likely they will be completely conquered by 1868.
  • Belgium: We begin moving our troops of 12,000 men to the edges of our borders, and opening up more enlistment programs, which brings in 2000 more men by the time of July. We send a message to Austria offering an alliance and trade, as well as help in the war against Prussia and their allies, as well as preparing to rescind our previous declaration of neutrality in the conflict. We also offer to trade with the United States and the Confederacy (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED, I think), acknowledging them as an independent nation, to help both countries recover from the recent war. We begin implementing our plans for industrializing our major cities, starting with Antwerp and the surrounding region.
    • Belgium Diplomacy: Due to the escalating war, we send diplomats to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to invite them to join Belgium, becoming one country. As Luxembourg is a fraction of the size that Belgium is, we offer military protection, supplies, and to help industrialize the small nation, and form a new district of Belgium, with the territory originally taken from it for Belgium being part of that district. In return, Luxembourg will send representatives to Belgium’s parliament and abide by all of Belgium’s laws. (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED!)
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We agree to an alliance against our common enemy, Prussia. We also agree to the trade agreement and we would like your nation to provide us more Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns.
    • Belgium Diplomacy: We agree to trade the Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns, adding on to the deal and reducing the price to 75% of the original cost, seeing as we are allies and fighting a war currently. We extend that deal to any other military goods purchased from Belgium by the Austrian government and their allies.
  • Swiss Confederacy: With thanks to a new British trade agreement, the nation's export/import industry booms, resulting in rapid economic growth, with the value of the economy expected to rise by up to a trillion Francs due to the new deal. The Zukunftskommission announce the end result of their months of meeting: a new update to the 1848 Swiss constitution. The constitution of 1848 resulted in complete centralization of Swiss power, moving it away from individual cantons. The new amendments recognize the achievement decades earlier and the construction of a huge palace to serve as a government headquarters is announced in Zurich, the Federal Palace of Switzerland (30 years before OTL), for a cost of just over seven million Swiss Francs. The construction will used forced labor from Swiss prisons and is expected to take two years. Meanwhile, the Council decides to invest even further in the Suez Canal Company, going so far as to buy a controlling stake of 68%, quickly cutting French investors out. Individual Swizz investors buy another 6%, making the company 74% Swiss owned. Its completion is not expected until late 1869, but when it opens it will connect the Med to the Red Sea, making it a major trade route. National Service is continued, with every fit and able man between the age of 18 and 45 given two years of professional full time service as a soldier, followed by three as a reservist, and five as a secondary reservist (required to train for four weekends a year only). This means the Swiss army and its reserves are trained to an impeccable standard, with their training programs among the finest in the world. The standing army numbers around 60,000 men. Investment in infrastructure by private companies leads to the planning of a vast new transport network, with rail line construction beginning to link every major town and city. The government subsidies the armaments manufacturing industry, pouring billions of Francs into research and development, marketing and advertisement. SAG Arms the largest weaponry company in the world (OTL) reports massive profits, and employment due to the sector is high. The Council votes, in the name of international security, to rescind Article 12 of the Constitution to once more allow foreign deployment of the military. A message is sent to Austria, along with a public abolishment of neutrality, that the Swiss military will deploy 20,000 men to Austria to join their coalition against Prussia. In return, the Council asks for a trade agreement where Austria buys many of their new armaments and ammunition from Swiss weaponry companies such as SAG, who have a reputation for high quality goods (the best in the world OTL according to Wikipedia), which is mutually beneficial. They would also like Austrian commitment to help them in a future military plan, as yet undisclosed, that will not endanger Austria in any way, shape or form. For secrecy reasons further details will be sent by hidden envoy.
    • Swiss Diplomacy (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED): The Swiss Council extends an invitation to the tiny nation of Liechtenstein to join the Confederacy. With a population of around 15,000 people, in a disproportionately sized landmass with no military, surrounded by conflict in the dissolving German Confederacy, the nation may well accept. The culture gap is virtually non-existent, with relations between the nations being high and in good faith for decades.
    • Swiss Diplomacy: A trade agreement is sought with the Indian Empire. Switzerland will hugely cut taxes on Indian exports to the nation for all exports that use Swiss merchants and brokers. In return, India must promise to give the Swiss exclusive rights to sell silks and spices in Europe after Great Britain (of course!)
    • Austrian Diplomacy: As we are in need of good equipment and an ally, we agree with all terms as stated by the Swiss gov, effectively entering an alliance. (Talk to me on chat about your secret military plan.)
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask the Swiss Confederation to leave Liechtenstein alone, as they are our ally.
  • Patagonia: Following the return of the King to his country, the population of Patagonia assemble for the marriage of Prince Adrien-Jean de Tounens (23 years old), nephew and heir of Antoine I, and of Béatrice Montessier (20 years old), daughter of the Marshal Vincent Montessier. Foreign leaders and monarchs, especially from allied nations, are invited. During the ceremony, the King make the famous Speech of National Unity, not only reaffirming the rights of all Mapuches, but officially declaring to the world that Patagonia is here to stay. Following the marriage, King Antoine I and his Secretary of State, Heiner von Kermann, write the official law of succession to the throne. It is agreed that women are excluded, that the Lonkos Assembly hold the power to elect King any male of the Royal Family (although they are expected to elect according to traditional succession law) and that in case of King too young, the Secretary of State will act as regent. The Law of succession officialised, the monarchy can now rest assured. The King pass the rest of the year away from court among the Mapuches.
    • Hawaiian Diplomacy: The royal family (King Kamehameha V, Victoria Kamāmalu, and Prince Kamehameha VI) is delighted to be invited, and comes to the wedding under significant guard.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Pope sends a Legate to act as permanent representative of the Papacy in Patagonia. His Holiness sends his congratulations, and hopes that the young kingdom will have positive relations with the Church.
    • British Diplomacy: Queen Victoria, only having just returned from her Royal Tour, politely declines the invitation as she wishes to rest, but orders the British government to officially recognise the Kingdom of Patagonia and to dispatch a diplomatic delegation to Patagonia. The 26-year-old Prince of Wales decides to attend the wedding in his mother's stead.
    • Argentine Diplomacy: Martinez happily accepts the invitation. The relations between the two nations strengthen and Martinez says at one of his speeches, "Let the two countries be brothers-in-arms!"
    • Brazilian Diplomacy: Brazil would be honored to attend.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: Emperor Franz Joseph officially congratulates Prince Andrien-Jean de Tourens, for his marriage with the lovely Béatrice Montessier. However, he is unable to visit Patagonia for the wedding, as the war in the German Confederation has just started, instead he sends his brother Archduke Karl Ludwig Joseph Maria of Austria in his stead.
  • Portugal: We decide to occupy lands around Macau, and we use a "Bigger Gun" policy to negotiate for it. We call for Mexico to surrender (Mod Response?). We send support to Austria.
  • Papal States: The Papacy retains its neutrality in the war in Germany, although secretly encourages the Catholic states of Austria and Southern Germany. Brazil is congratulated for its moves toward abolishing slavery, and enacting the Pope's encyclical Liberavitque Dominus. The Pope sets the date of the upcoming Ecumenical Council for early 1869, and invitations are sent to the bishops of the world, as well as some abbots, abbesses, superiors of orders, and prominent lay theologians.
    • Brazilian Diplomacy: We thank the pope for his kind words, and reaffirm Brazil's commitment to ending slavery.
  • The Russian Empire, after much careful consideration, declares war upon Prussia and the North German Confederation, citing the sudden violation of Austrian sovereignty. Our military, consisting of over 600,000 men, pour over the Prussian border, specifically in Polish regions. Emperor Alexander II reasserts his position as King of Poland and states all Prussian Polish territory shall be assimilated back into Congress Poland after the war. The Polish Sejm issues a resolution calling for a surge in enlistment, and 100,000 Poles join the fight against Prussia to re-establish their complete homeland. We continue to urge Crown Princess Victoria of Prussia to find a peaceful solution to the warmongering of Otto von Bismarck, offering her covert espionage aid if desired. In East Asia, we agree to protect Korea as a satellite state. We request that Bukhara accept the rail-line to connect Khiva and Kokand. (MOD RESPONSE)
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We thank the Russian Empire for their support in this crucial time.
  • The Argentine Republic: Infrastructure, railroads, public services, hospitals, and schools are all set up in Argentina. The Chilean west coast is marked into our map and we start to open up trade ports there. We invite Hawaii to trade with us there as it is more convenient. After observing foreign relations, Argentine republic declares to stand on Austria's side and heavily condemn the north German confederation. Martinez decides to give Austria food and military supplies, and deploys 11,000 troops in Europe. The army is led by Urquiza and joins the Austrian army.
    • The Argentinian people cannot possibly be interested in fighting a war that does not in the least concern them or affect them in any way. It doesn't matter if there's an alliance — the people would not support such a war. The logistics are also impossible. 19th century technology means that you can't deploy troops anywhere in the world in a matter of hours. It takes weeks, months or even years to get supplies and/or people to places, and this just isn't practical for Argentina. I already said last turn that direct Argentinian participation in the conflict is implausible. Also, OTL Argentina even today has less than 100,000 active military personnel. Do you really want to send more than a tenth of your army to die in Europe in any case? A plausibility strike for you. ~Tim
    • Hawaiian Diplomacy: We agree to redirect about 70% of our pineapple trade ships to the more convenient west coast ports.
  • Australia: We continue to expand another 20 px into the British Guinea area. Unlike our fellow nation of the UK, we think of actually keeping the Dutch East Indies, by only taking areas that are on our North border like Papua and the Nusa Islands. John Young, in a speech saying "we don't want to expand too much just in case of in that area rebels and try to regain independence". Also during this part of the year, we continue on enforcing the train network with Rockhampton being reached in Queensland and Terang in Victoria. In terms of wars, we are going to stay out of the war with Austria for the moment. We continue to train another 3500 men for the protection of our nation.
  • Great Korean Empire: Emperor Gojong continues to advocate stronger ties with the Russian Empire, as China weakens. The Emperor gives gratitude to the Russian government for accepting it as a satellite state and granting it protected state status. Emperor Gojong continues the introduction of structural reforms that are expected to modernise Korea. Forty more steamships, adding to the already made forty, are constructed to secure Korea’s protection from foreign powers invading it from the sea (since Northern Korea is already naturally buffered with mountains). Korean industrial complexes undergo exponential growth, resulting in heightened production of petrochemicals, steel, vehicles, and machinery, and increasingly higher industrial output. As the economic networks grow, so does the network of railways, roads and canals. Western-style architecture continues to replace their Eastern counterparts. Western-style attire becomes prevalent among the wealthy and mandatory for diplomats and government officials. More schools, universities, and libraries are built to add on to existing academic programs. Using increased government revenue due to the rise of business conglomerates and growing wealth, Korea offers to provide humanitarian and economic support to the government in China, in exchange for Port Arthur (located at the tip of the Liaodong peninsula).
  • Austrian Empire: Emperor Franz Joseph I issues a proclamation on the formation of a South German Confederation, to encompass Austria and her allies, excluding Prussia and her associates, as a reaction to Prussia's formation of the North German Confederation. The South German Confederation is headed by Emperor Franz Joseph I. We deploy 400,000 more troops against Prussia and her allies. Around 220,000 troops make an offensive against Silesia, aiming to occupy it. Around 120,000 troops move to reinforce the Saxon front, hoping to make an offensive against Berlin. Around 320,000 troops make an offensive against Rhineland and Hanover. The rest 140,000 stay in Bohemia to defend it. We buy good quality armaments and ammunition from our ally the Swiss Confederation. We continue to build up our military. We continue to massively produce Werndl–Holub rifles to be used in the army, now at even more increased rate, with the war going on. Around 1.2 milliom Werndl–Holub rifles (Austrian made) have been produced by now and are used in our armed forces. We continue to acquire Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns, from Belgium, for our military. Around 1500 mitrailleuse volley guns(Belgian made) have been acquired for our military by now. Austria continues to experience a huge growth, now augmented due to the Treaty of Hanseong.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We accept Denmark's alliance offer.
    • MOD: Nope.
    • Fine, just tell me how much more troops can i deploy, if you read my previous turns you will see that i have increased my forces and improved my army by a lot.~Wrto12
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask Luxembourg to join the South German Confederation, as equal members, in response to the Belgian, without them having to join the war against Prussia. Shall they decline we offer to guarantee their independence/sovereignty/territorial integrity, expecting nothing in return. (MOD RESPONSE)
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We remind our allies Italy of our agreement, asking them to join the war in our side.(Agreement was to support us against Prussia in a possible war, in exchange for the ethnic Italian lands that we gave them)(MOD RESPONSE)
    • Swiss Diplomacy (Secret): We ask Austria, that in the event of Italy refusing to help, and once the Prussian-Austrian war is over, that they help us in an expansion of our lands. As one of the world’s foremost traders and brokers, the Swiss position is damaged by having no coast. It is entirely landlocked, which means goods from trade agreements with countries not in mainland Europe such as India, Australia and Britain must pass through Italy or France first to arrive at Swiss warehouses. The war coalition will split Italy into Swiss Italy and Austrian Italy, leaving the Papal States entirely out of the conflict. The map attached shows the split, which, when one considers the Papal States are independent, leaves a fairly even split. The endeavor will help both sides by providing Swiss access to the sea, which will boost the Austrian economy due to greater exports and imports to Europe. The Swiss-Austrian Trade Agreement will become many time more profitable. In three years’ time, the Suez Canal will open under the control of the Swiss Confederation Trade Company, and goods from the Canal will be able to arrive even quicker to Austrian territory due to the southern expansion. The Swiss Guard, the world’s most elite fighting force (OTL) and the Swiss Confederate Army, together numbering 50,000 men plus reserves of around 200,000, may be joined by allies how will hopefully add up to 100,000 more to the force. The Italian army, which numbers around 200,000 at full capacity and is notorious for being ill trained, ill equipped and ill commanded, is still in disarray after the civil war in 1861, and the nation lacks infrastructure and military stability as a result. Please see the map below for the proposal. On another note, we wish to reassure Austria, our esteemed friend and ally, that our interest in Liechtenstein is purely a democratic matter of common security in a European environment of turmoil and conflict. Our cultures are remarkably similar, and integration between our peoples is already high. The nation's decision will be respected with no repercussions; we will continue to be its close neighbor and friend.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We make a counter offer to the Swiss Confederacy, instead of attacking Italy, which right now is a friendly nation, we propose that the Swiss Confederacy instead help us to defeat France, gaining Occitania as a reward. Even though the Italian forces aren't very good right now, occupying Italy would be very difficult, due to their population density. Occitania on the other hand, has way less population density, making it more easier to occupy.
    • Swiss Diplomacy (Secret): We thank Austria for the even better idea! France serves coastal purposes just as well. Could the Swiss Confederacy also assume control of Corsica, the French island just off its coast? We will begin work on a draft treaty to divide it up.
    • Austrian Diplomacy (Secret): We plan to give Corsica and Nice to Italy in exchange for their support and should they decline, it's yours. Also, we don't want you messing around with South German Confederation members, Liechtenstein is a member and our ally, so don't.
Italian Invasion Map Proposal
  • British Guiana: We improve infrastructure and economy still. Military plans to have a defense and recruit more 500 troops this year. The new plans are also accordingly revealed that some roads and highways are begin to build to connect with capital city of Georgetown and other cities. Although, the railroads and the railroad companies aren't set to be revealed yet, as while we're colony of UK we sure that the railroads aren't ready to be built. In other particular news, the ports are built in coast of Guiana and the coast city of Georgetown, whether they'll be some ships to be built and also for cargo and goods.
  • Saxony: We have a total of 60,000 troops deployed against Prussia. 32,000 are trained troops in the Royal Saxon Army, and 28,000 are conscripted Landwehr apart of the Royal Saxon Landwehr. The RSA has moved into Silesia, headed to take the regions west of Breslau. The RSL has split into smaller Corps, 14,000 men each. The 1st Corps is manning fortifications in northern and western Saxony to defend against Prussian attack, while the 2nd Corps is making its way to Potsdam. We request an alliance with Russia. We are allowing Austria to cross Saxon territory if needed to attack Prussia. In addition, we request reinforcements from the Austrians. The Diet also approves further subsidies for industries in the top ten largest cities in Saxony. The industry that is already in Saxony, is converted over to wartime production. They start to mass produce bullets and rifles. Medicinal supply is also sent to the front lines. The agricultural side of our nation starts to send out shares of their crops to our men as well.
    • Russia accepts the Saxon alliance provided Saxony recognizes Emperor Alexander II's rightful claims to Prussian Poland as King of Poland.
    • Austria sends 120,000 troops to reinforce the Saxon front. We ask Saxony to help us make an offensive against Berlin.
    • MOD: NO! Your army isn't big enough to send hundreds of thousands of troops to various fronts! Implausible. A strike for you. Please find a significantly smaller number.
  • Indian Empire: In a state council meeting last night, the Governor of The British Raj has agreed to the trade policy with the Swiss Confederacy. India continues to see a huge growth in its tea, silk, spice and opium trade and in order to export more of its fine goods has decided to invest in more transport infrastructure, including a new railway system - British Indian Nation Railways, which will connect the Himalayas in the North to the ever expanding ports in the South. The Royal Raj Company, now the largest trading company in the Indian Empire, and the Indian Empire itself has began financing the creation of a new world class port and trading hub in Thane just outside Bombay (Mumbai) in order to help India become a major shipping power. With easy access to the Ottoman Empire and direct access to the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal, the Port of Thane will house India's ever increasing merchant fleet. The Governor, Lord Wessex will visit London in attempt to secure greater state autonomy. He will officially invite the Queen to British India and announce the building of a new palace, near Calcutta, in her honour. The Earl of Buckingham, Chief of Defence and Security for British India has called for the creation of a new British Indian Arabian fleet to guard Britain's assets in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. He asks Britain to allow British India to establish such a force and asks for resources and weaponry to equip the fleet. Production of 25 ironclad cruisers will begin immediately after Britain's telegram response. Regarding the army; the three existing forces of the former East India Company's Presidencies will by merged to create a new fighting force of around 250,000 men. This force will be named the Central British Indian Army and will be used in times of need and in response to humanitarian crisis. The army will begin enlisting more men and will hope to gain a further 95,000 men in the next two years. British India asks the British Empire to focus on obtaining land in Central and Western Asia, and increasing British India's borders instead of focusing on the Dutch East Indies. It calls for men and resources from all over the Empire to help create a military force which will be recognized by even the largest of Empires. As the civil war in China continues, we will deploy around 50,000 troops along the North East and South East borders, purely for security reasons. We will continue to raise a territorial and reserve army in case of emergencies. British India will seek support from its sister nations within the British Empire, and its ally the Swiss Confederacy for military training, resources and manpower.
    • Swiss Diplomacy: The Swiss Confederate Trade Company, the state run trading conglomerate, is proud to help India. They will deliver tonnes of ammunition and other ordnance via their cargo fleets in Genoa and Marseilles to the Indian Empire ports of Bombay and Karachi. In return, they expect reserved areas and infrastructure in these ports to facilitate these and other efforts, and of course financial compensation, with a starting fee of 100 billion Swiss Francs. The Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (Swiss Industry Company) (ORL company), the world's largest and highest quality arms manufacturer will begin production immediately, after government investment to expand its capabilities. The Swiss Army proposes a Swiss-Indian Legion programme of training. The Swiss Confederate Trade Company ships will deliver ordnance to India and once empty will fill with Indian troops. These troops will be shipped to Switzerland for six months of heavy training supervised by the Swiss Army, which will turn them into a crack professional fighting force, trained by some of the most elite forces in the world. Whilst in Switzerland, the troops will be at the disposal of the Swiss army for defensive and offensive purposes. The troops will swear to never attack the Swiss Confederate during their service. At the end of a two-year tour, they will be shipped back by returning Indian trade ships. The tours will each consist of approximately 50,000 men, and will continue until six tours have been completed. This will result in 300,000 trained Indian troops equipped with high quality Swiss rifles, swords and cannons.
      • Indian Diplomacy: The agreement with Switzerland is ratified by government officials. The first 50,000 troops depart from Bombay. The British Raj has decreed that 500 acres each of Bombay and Karachi shall be given to the Swiss Confederate Trading Company to facilitate their trade. Royal Navy warships redistributed to Indian command shall help protect their cargo ships in the region.
  • UCCA: Besides the global affects of the recent economic collapse of the United States, the economy of the Confederation is at an all time high. Because of the success of the new liberal country, immigrants from all of Central and South America are pouring in to the UCCA. With our open door policy immigrants are immediately welcomed and continuously our economy grows and industry increases. Our two highest exports remain to be Coffee and Bananas. President Barrios releases his ten-year plan, it includes the establishing and construction of a public school system and the construction of the Trans Central American Railroad. Some Catholics are still agitated from the education policy but the President remains determined. Because of the recent purchase of British Honduras and the open door policy and the recent ratification of the constitution, Protestant missionaries from Britain are beginning to arrive and the number of Protestants is increasing. Capitalists from Britain are also arriving to invest. The military is still being refitted, modernized and expanded.
  • Denmark: Nationalism and the nationalist parties become extremely popular with public support of the war being very high and anti-Prussian sentiments spreading. We send an additional 8000 troops into our army against Prussia thus increasing the force to 18,000 soldiers. We send the force through Juteland to attack Prussia. We assembly a fleet of 300 ships to blockade Prussian ports on the eastern coast with ports along the Mecklenburg and Pommeranian coast begin to being blockaded. Because of the increase in nationalist feelings among the Danish enlistment increases. Our army increases by 1100 men. Public support of the war effort helps the industrialization of Denmark with five new factories dedicated to war time efforts being built to supply weapons and other materials. We ask the Austrians for an alliance as well as a formality as they are in the prussian-austro war on their side. We also begin to build infrastructure on Iceland with roads and schools being planned to built in the next five years.
  • Toucouleur Empire: With our eastern and western fronts secured and our vassal Futa Jallon to have successfully conquered the nation of Kaabu without our assistance, we look to expand our industries. We have mainly had a self-sufficient economy based on agriculture so far, we use the railroad that we have built to Liberia to export gold, iron and cotton to the global markets. We use our vast amounts of gold to improve our dollar since we are on the gold standard. We continue to build roads and railroads in our nation and in our vassals. We continue to aid Samori to secure the Guinean Highlands and we start to fortify our cities.

The German War continues to tear through the region, with Prussia and Austria evenly matched. Austria has more in numbers, but Prussia's military is more advanced. The war reaches a stalemate.

The American economy continues to improve with British support.

Due to consistent implausibility and ignoring the moderators, Wrto12 is banned from Emancipation for three turns starting in 1868.

  • United Kingdom: Although Britannia officially has no interest in the German War, popular support tends to favour Prussia, mainly due to the presence of Princess Victoria in Prussia. There is great pressure on the government to go to war against Austria in support of Prussia. While currently the government has not made any announcements regarding this issue, we secretly recall all our ships from Australia; we now intend to leave our Indonesian offensive for later. Instead, we have them return to Britain, ready to be deployed to Europe should we decide to enter the German War. Troops are prepared for deployment into Germany, and we secretly send diplomats to Prussia to negotiate possible future British troop movements. Meanwhile, Princess Helena, who married Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, recently gave birth to Prince Christian Victor in Windsor Castle.
    • Russia seeks a non-aggression pact with the Empire of Greater Britannia, citing our push toward liberalism and increasing global influence.
    • British Diplomacy: We inform Russia that should war for any reason break out between us and Austria, that we do not wish to fight Russia, and hope that peace can be preserved.
  • The Russian Empire continues to wage war on Prussian Poland in support of our Austrian allies and te Emperor's rightful claim as King of Poland. The military of over 600,000 men and an additional 100,000 Poles weighs down substantial Prussian troop numbers. We continue to urge Crown Princess Victoria of Prussia to find a peaceful solution to the warmongering of Otto von Bismarck, offering her covert espionage aid if desired. (MOD) We once again request that Bukhara accept the rail-line to connect Khiva and Kokand. (MOD RESPONSE)
    • Bukhara (MOD): We accept.
    • Korean Dip: We would like to send some troops to support the Russian war effort.
  • Belgium: We begin recruiting more members into our armed, adding another 1000 to our armies, bringing the number up to 15,000 men. We begin creating and shipping Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns to Austria at the reduced price. We also send another invitation to Luxembourg to join Belgium (Mod response, please), with an offer to protect the small nation and create a union between the two nations. We continue to industrialize Antwerp, and begin industrializing the city of Ghent. We also begin making defences in the event that Belgium is invaded, and work on better training our armies. We use some of the Montigny mitrailleuse we created and mounted on our fortresses and around cities to defend them. Our first steam ship is half-built, and should be finished in one year. We send out a fleet to explore the north above the Nordic countries, hoping to have them return in six months with their findings.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We send an emissary to Austria as well as asking if any formal plans or operations would be set for attacking Prussia and their allies, as Belgium's armies would be better utilised in a group effort than working on its own.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: Occupying Prussian Rhineland would be crucial to our war effort, as this location contains most of Prussia's industry.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We prepare our forces to invade the region, although we may need some assistance due to our much smaller military in comparison to Prussia's military.
    • Luxembourg (MOD): Wishing to retain our independence and neutrality in the German War, we decline Belgium's proposal.
  • Hawaii: Our military works hard to put down rebellions in Papeete, which has reduced as rebuilding in that city occurs. About 83% of Aliʻiōlani Hale is complete. In battling Tahiti, we seige the final stronghold of the army; only a few remnants of the military remain. We demand unconditional surrender from Tahiti once more (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED), seeing as they have no chance of making a comeback. In other news, Victoria Kamāmalu gives birth to a daughter. We expand the Lana'i pineapple plantation, and we improve our infrastructure in the damaged villages of Tahiti.
    • Tahiti (MOD): The Tahitians engage in guerrilla warfare and refuse to surrender.
  • Australia: With the possible collision course over West Papua starting to come we try to workout a draft as we expand another 10 px into the British Guinea territory. With the war happening in Germany, we are going to stay out of this war, especially if Britain goes to war it will be their problem not ours. The rail network continues with the Brisbane line changing to head back down south while the Victorian line heads to the town of Colac in Victoria. In Tasmania, plans for a tram network is in discussion in Hobart which will be the first of its kind in Tasmania and possibly Australia.
    • MOD: Keep in mind that Australia is part of the Empire of Greater Britannia, and so will be affected by the decisions made by the Imperial government in London.
  • Swiss Confederacy: The government continues to invest in infrastructure such as the Trans-Swiss Rail 1 and 2 (See Nation Page for more details), and roads. A network of spoked roads is built (similar to the German Autobahn network built in the 1930s) to not only allow the civilian population to travel around the country with ease, but to allow the military to respond quickly and efficiently to incursions or instigate excursions. The National Bank of Switzerland becomes one of the first banks in the world to print bank notes (as we know them today). Security over their minting is tight, but they are expected to fully integrate into circulation within five years. The Swiss successfully recruit Lt. D. H. Friberg from Sweden, promising him high pay and 200 million Swiss Francs for research and development for his weapon designs, in return for exclusivity. The Austrian born Ferdinand Mannlicher is also recruited with a similar deal to advance the rifle industry, as is the American James Paris Lee. Meanwhile, the Swiss Foreign Legion is founded, with the aim of recruiting and training 5000 elite soldiers from across the world. The drive is an immediate success, with thousands of Asians and Africans signing up for the high pay. The soldiers swear an oath of fealty to the Swiss government, and in return receive weapons, equipment and wages, which are of European standard. This wage attracts many, as when compared with local wages it is much higher. The government announces that although they would of course prefer the war to have never started, or to be solved by diplomacy, Switzerland is surrounded geographically by pro-Austrian states, and is not in a position to declare neutrality. Austria, as one of our greatest friends and allies, is only fighting for her rightful place, and the war was originally of self-defence. If war cannot be averted, then the only option we see is to fully commit and ensure it ends as soon as possible to prevent further loss of life. As such, a full mobilisation of the Swiss Army is declared. The total number of regular Swiss troops in combat will be brought up to 50,000, leaving 10,000 to maintain security and safety. The Swiss Reserve Armies are mobilised; 115,000 men are issued with rifles once more as they don their uniforms from their wardrobes. These reservists have all served for two years as a full time soldier, and have maintained their training since then. Thus, despite their reservist status, they are among the finest in Europe. The combined Swiss total of troops deployed to Austria reaches 165,000 men. Thanks to the aforementioned (See earlier turns) reserves of rifles and ammunition, the rearmament of the troops costs the economy next to nothing directly. The total number of soldiers has been calculated so that the economy remains stable in their absence (I actually have done this, apparently it has to be less than 7%. I originally misread the population as double what it actually was so I have halved my military accordingly here). Swiss rifle stockpiles are distributed amongst pro-Austrian states, for a price of course, in an attempt to minimise the technology gap between Prussia and Austria. In other news, the economy booms, hugely boosted by the war that surrounds our nation. Almost every armament sold in the conflict to the Austrian side was supplied and designed by Swiss firms and brokers, as Swiss GDP per Capita reaches the top three highest in the world. Economic growth is forecast at a strong rate. In the Suez Canal, naval docks are designed and construction begins to give Switzerland the capability to construct patrol boats, once the Canal is finished, to protect its interests. A pair of artillery fortresses at either end of the canal, linked by a double track railway and an intricate system of trenches and bunkers are built (This actually was built a few years later OTL, though not quite as large).
    • $10 trillion is way too high for Switzerland ...
    • Yeah, you are right. I looked it up and my revised opinion is seven because it was actually seven at the time OTL plus the war and trade agreements bringing in much more money. That is in modern day conversion rates, BTW.
    • Using modern day market exchange rates, GDP is slightly above $10 billion.'
    • I don't know about this stuff. I'm just using this, plus a bit extra due to development in this game, predominantly due to the war providing Switzerland with arms sales.
    • Look, I am no mod, but is none of this stuff setting off implausibility alarm bells for anyone else? Maybe I've missed some big development, but Switzerland building a navy in the Suez Canal? And building fortifications either end using forced penal labour? To say nothing of the tens of thousands of "guards from across the world" joining the private army of what appears to be a Swiss version of the British East India Company, or Switzerland unilaterally abandoning its neutrality (which was recognised by international treaty in 1815). And what was all that stuff about Austria and Switzerland dividing Italy, then Occitania and Corsica, between them? Is no one else marginally concerned about the plausibility of any of this? I dunno, maybe I have missed some huge POD somewhere which makes all of this possible. Mods??? Callumthered (talk) 13:15, April 7, 2016 (UTC)
    • Okay, I realise some of it is implausible but I want to defend some of it. The currency was a mishap because I can't convert to 1870s Swiss Francs and neither can anyone else. The navy thing is simply patrol boats: that is entirely reasonable as we want to protect and regulate customs in the Suez Canal. Neutrality was abandoned two turns ago in a public vote, and the divisions were proposals, secret ones I might add, for a later invasion, which is not entirely implausible. IT WASNT REAL. Penal forced labour was used by many nations of the world at the time, and these aren't major fortifications; they existed in real life OTL I am merely expanding them. However, I have scrapped the trading thing as implausible and outdated. I will volunteer for a strike on that matter, to show goodwill. I can't strike from source mode as I do not know how, but I have deleted it from the section.
    • MOD: Sorry, I've been terribly busy. The Swiss Foreign Legion is implausible. Also, the Suez Canal isn't even complete yet, so even if it were practical (which it isn't) Switzerland cannot build its navy in the Suez Canal. Ten trillion dollars way too much. Not even the British Empire was generating that much revenue in the 19th century — it only made $918.7 billion in 1938.
    • Yeah I apologise and agree, though the currency was in today's money it was still a bit over I was merely using wikipedia. The docks are still under construction, the work on the patrol boats hasn't started btw.
  • Papal States: The Papacy watches on in horror as Central Europe descends into bloody warfare. Submissions from the world's bishops are requested for topics of the upcoming Ecumenical Council. Topics already on the agenda are temporal power, modernism, papal infallibility, the episcopate, and missionary activity. The breakdown of central authority in China has both positive and negative effects, since there is no central authority to oppress missionary activity, but likewise there is no central authority to protect Chinese Christians. Missionary activity continues unabated though, and some native Chinese men are even ordained. Bishops and diplomats in Brazil and the CSA are encouraged to continue their good work in opposing slavery and continue calling for their flocks to emancipate their slaves.
    • Korean Dip: The newly converted Emperor Gojong declares a new form of Christianity called Korean Christianity (한국어 기독교; hangug-eo gidoggyo), infusing Confucian values, Western liberalism and Christianity. But, however, the Emperor notifies the Pope that the switch to Korean Christianity from Neo–Confucianism would not affect Catholic missionaries due to the recent law promoting freedom of religion, and encourages its missionary activities in the Far East. The Emperor offers to protect Chinese Christians and would offer them refuge until the possibly anti-Western Rebellions in China end.
  • Patagonia: Marshal Montessier starts a massive recruitment in hope of expanding the Patagonian army and modernizing it, while Secretary of State von Kermann invites investors to come to Patagonia, hoping to start the industrialisation of the country.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We recognize Patagonia as an independent nation, as well as offering to begin trading tools and other materials to help Patagonia begin industrializing, offering Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns and any other military items to trade to help the Patagonian military as well.
    • Patagonia Dip: King Antoine I personally sent a letter to thank King Leopold for his help.
  • Empire of Brazil: Pedro II begins using surplus government income to buy slave families' their freedom. If he comes under fire for this, he will begin using his own personal income, stating that "If the Brazilian people object to their taxes being used to free slaves, I suppose that is a legitimate concern. But surely they cannot object to a man using his own money to free slaves."
  • Republic of Argentine: We start to mass industrialise in Argentina and open several factories. We open foreign investments in our country and introduce our new currency, AGM. Trading with Hawaii flourishes after the occupation of Chile. Finally, we request a triple alliance between Patagonia and Brazil, known as the South American Pact.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We offer to send over tools and supplies to help Argentina industrialize itself, as well as an offer to send Montigny mitrailleuse volleys guns as well.
    • Argentine Diplomacy: We happily accept the Belgian offer and would like both countries to expand trade, especially Argentine's soya bean production! Argentine further asks Belgian for an alliance if possible.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We agree to making an alliance, and promise to send aid if Argentina ever needs it.
    • Brazilian Diplomacy: We agree to an alliance.
  • UCCA: Although coffee and bananas still continue to be the top resources of the UCCA, the potential of the timber industry is realized. The population continues to boom as jobs are open everywhere. Foreign capitalists are beginning to fund railway projects and industry as opportunity is ripe. Roads and routes between provinces is now also a priority for President Barrios as transportation to the Province of Belize is currently difficult. President Barrios also adds to his ten year plan to build the first telegraph system of Central America to connect the UCCA. The first European bank opens in Guatemala City backed by investors from the United Kingdom. The military is now completely refitted with United Confederation of Central America uniforms. Liberal reforms continue and Native Central Americans begin to become integrated peacefully with modern society as discrimination is frowned upon the government and equal rights continues to be a forefront of the administration. The first Central American military base is built in the Province of Belize in Belize City in efforts to further integrate and connect Belize to the rest of Central America.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We offer to send tools and supplies to aid in the UCCA's industrialization, as well as an offer to send Montigny mitrailleuse volley guns for their military as well.
    • Central American Diplomacy: We agree to accept the supplies and also agree to accept the military supplies. In turn we offer to open up trade with Belgium for a 15% lower rate - and also offer naval access to our ports.
    • Belgian Diplomacy: We thank President Barrios for his offer and promise to have the madien voyage of our new steamship to deliver cargo and other trade items to their ports once it is finished being constructed.
Spain finishes invading Maguindanao and is fully annexed into the Spanish colony of the Philippines. Continues its war on Mexico, pushing into Eastern Mexico Region. More railroads and more trains are built across Spain and its colonies.
  • Kingdom of the Netherlands: The government of the Netherlands begins to draw drastic measures, due to the impeding war with the UK. We offer Austria, Denmark and Korea an alliance, hoping to be allies and pledge our support for their cause. We begin to mobilize both in our colonies and on the mainland, raising 40,000 on the mainland and 10,000 in the colonies, with 3000 in the Caribbean and 7000 in Indonesia. We sail 600 of our ships and send them to the Nordic Sea to aid the Danish blockade attempts.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We accept your alliance offer.
    • Korea Diplomacy: We accept your alliance offer.
    • MOD: The Netherlands would not have knowledge of British war plans, as they are classified plans of the British Government.
  • British Guiana: With economy and infrastructure expanding in British Guiana, the military is recruiting more 500 troops. Although the economy is looking good, but whether supplies will be delivered in Guiana. Georgetown's capital city continues to grow its population, and the ports with some ships are still in progress. British Guiana hopes to improve much of the supplies as it works hard to get their goal finalised. Military also begins some troops to consolidate, not all of the troops but few. Military also looks for defensive plan to protect, which is fortification, the plan that is not yet going to be started. The troops at the moment in British Guiana is about 16,300 of them.
    • If Switzerland is being told off for implausibility by some of you, though I believe it has since been justified and apologized for by me, then this is ridiculous. An educated guess puts the British Guiana at around 150,000 people. This either means a quarter of the entire nation, including women, children and the elderly are in the military, or Britain has wasted almost 40,000 troops, a ratio of four civilians to every troop, which is, frankly, ridiculous. The nation is loyal and peaceful, and such a ratio is extreme even for one of unrest and turmoil. MOD!!!!
    • Swiss Diplomacy: We offer a trade agreement where Swiss arms companies will have a monopoly on producing the rifles, machine guns (crank operated ofc), artillery and swords of your growing military. We in return will offer reduce prices due to the economy of scale allowing you to take advantage of bulk discounts. You will therefore save large sums of money, whilst at the same time benefiting from among the best armaments in the world.
    • British Guiana: We accept, but we have to watch out. We don't want to improve too much unless this becomes a danger for British Guiana. We have to take step by step which to improve and set our goals.
    • If it's implausible, I'd better be more careful for that, so I don't get too much of that.
    • Same here, too, actually. However, I think it should be fine, as this is merely trading companies organizing long distance routes, a regular occurrence.
    • Now it's fixed, and I don't know if this is true or not, but I have lowered it down. Over 30,000 is too much for British Guiana. Let's hope that's right.
  • Saxony: We regroup the RSL and RSA into Saxony to defend from Prussian attack. Further subsidies are being made to grow the industry in Saxony. Focuses of the diet are being made toward war, instead of industry and the economy, which was the former focus. Our factories and farms continue to produce for the war effort. We request assistance from either Russia or Austria to combat the Prussians.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We have already deployed 120,000 troops in your lands to make an offensive to Berlin.
    • MOD: Did you even pay attention to what I said last turn? I said that you cannot deploy another 120,000 troops to Saxony! Another plausibility strike.
    • Swiss Diplomacy: We offer a trade agreement where goods from Saxony are offered much reduced taxes when transported and marketed by Swiss brokers. Saxon goods can be held in Switzerland at reduced cost for European distribution.
  • Indian Empire: The Empire will continue expanding its military in an attempt to secure a position of power in Central Asia. The Army continues to expand at a rapid rate. After the recent famine and the revolt against the British East India Company, nine years ago, citizens are keen to be able to protect their country and help make the empire safer. Not only have we seen an increase in the size of the army, but since the announcement of the creation of the British Raj Navy over 25,000 men have enlisted. Work has began on creating a home to the future fleet, which will house around 30 large iron clad cruisers, 15 smaller battleships, 12 logistics ships and an additional fleet of smaller boats including patrol boats and troop carrying ships. The British Raj seeks a deal with Britain to build part of the fleet, as the fleet, under Indian control, will pledge to support the British Empire and protect their assets in the east. As mentioned before 25 cruisers are ready to be built in India under the supervision of specialist who have traveled to India from around the world. The hope is that the fleet shall be ready to engage in full scale conflict by 1890. The India government has begun to create a police force - CLEBBR - Central Law Enforcement Brigade of The British Raj. The police force currently has around 18,000 men in large cities and will seek to expand to 50,000 by 1969. The Indian Empire will start to militarize the border with the Emirate of Afghanistan. Three new rail lines will connect six new military bases near the border straight to the sea and also to Bombay. The Indian Army will now position 85,000 men in the Pakistan Region, increase patrols on all borders due to security threats in Europe and China and will start on the construction of two military training facilities within the Pakistan Region. The British Indian army is on call to mobilize its reservists and prepare to fight along side Britain in conflict, if Britain decides to take action in either Europe or the Dutch East Indies. (SECRET): In the meantime, the Indian Empire looks to expand its borders and calls for British interests to be in securing parts of Central Asia - an unprotected area full of natural resources.
  • Toucouleur Empire: We continue to improve our infrastructure and economy as we build railways between our major cities. The continued expansion of Samori for our nation and his reformation of our army is greatly rewarded as his tribe is built a city named Samori in his honour. We create our first clothing factories by importing materials from Liberia from our cotton farms. We send battalions of men to protect trade caravans that traverse the Sahara and we hire these men to bolster our ranks bringing the total to 70,000. We offer Liberia a chance to fall under our sphere of influence as the Americans are in no position to help them.(MOD RESPONSE NEEDED)
  • Great Korean Empire (Russian protectorate): Emperor Gojong agrees to reform Korea into a constitutional monarchy, with the Premier (former Regent Gung) holding joint-administration with the Emperor. Emperor Gojong approves the Premier’s proposal to remove Neo–Confucianism’s status as the state religion due to the recently granted right to freedom of religion. However, the Emperor creates a new branch of Christianity called Korean Christianity (한국어 기독교; hangug-eo gidoggyo), infusing Confucian values, Western liberalism and Christianity into a religion. The introduction of structural reforms that are expected to modernize Korea continues. Forty more steamships, adding to the already made eighty, are constructed to secure Korea’s protection from foreign powers invading it from the sea (since Northern Korea is already naturally buffered with mountains). Korean industrial complexes undergo exponential growth, resulting in heightened production of petrochemicals, steel, vehicles, and machinery, and increasingly higher industrial output. Many privately-owned industrial conglomerates grow with a rapid pace, benefiting from heavy financial support given by the government, and domestic and foreign investors as well as free unrestricted trade with Austria, Russia and China. A new culture; a mixture of Korean and traditional values and Western liberalism, continues to be heavily promoted by the government. Western-style architecture continues to replace their Eastern counterparts. Western-style attire continues to become more prevalent. More schools, universities and libraries are built to add on to existing academic programs.
  • Japan: After anger from the Korean's new branch Christianity, we make a formal declaration of war, that has been agreed upon by both the Emperor and the Shogun. We revise the laws of succession for Shogun and make it Seniority. We mobilize our navy and army and remind Britain of the Treaty of Edo.
    • Russia reminds Japan that Korea is a Russian protectorate and any attack on Korea will be seen as a direct attack upon Russian soil.
    • Why would the British get mad at an Asian country seeking to emulate the West, if anything, it would get mad at you for trying to disrupt Westernization, regardless of your alliance with Britain. Also, Korea is a protected state (Korea still has independence from Russia) of Russia, and you would be not only attacking Korean troops, but also Russian and Austrian ones. Thirdly, you are not in a position for a conflict, as you are still an underdeveloped, agrarian state because you have not added any policies that promote growth nor reform the economy's structure.

After sweeping reforms that eliminated neutrality from Switzerland and involved her in a substantial war effort, the leading birghers of many cantons, including Zürich and Bern call the government into question.

In the Prussian War, the Austrian force makes substantial headway, tearing into Prussia from all directions. Most of Prussian Poland has fallen under Russian control, with large many of the Prussian allies starting to fall to the South German Confederation.

  • British Guiana: The military is still looking for a defensive plan, to fend off other enemies so that doesn't become a factor. Some cities are working in progress to build most of the houses to spread the population. Georgetown looks to have slight population growing, and it's not going to be as big as it would be. The trade agreement we've had with Switzerland is agreed at that moment, but it looks like we aren't much offensive and no invasion is planned in the military briefing.
  • Ottoman Empire: We continue sending men and foreign aid to Austria and Russia in the war against Prussia, we hope that the war will end soon. The 1867 Ottoman Games was a great success with it being held in Jerusalem, Baghdad finishing first, Jerusalem finishing second and Cairo finishing third. It was a surprise that Istanbul didn't finish in the top 3. We continue to promote festival events throughout the nation, this hopes to unite the diverse nation. We build our military and economy. We also continue to westernize and reform the finances and the military. We continue to expand in Africa about 43 pixels. Work on the Suez Canal is stopped until the war is over due to lack of money funding it, we hope it'll be finished soon. We would also like to rewrite the non-aggression pact with Russia, making it last to 1900 and also signing an alliance, agreeing on the border between the Ottoman Empire and Russia that is in place at the moment. (PS: I may not be able to do a turn the next few days today, I happen to have some time spare so I did this turn.
    • I'm sorry but OTL the Suez Canal Company was owned by private investors, mainly French, who funded the construction. As noted many turns ago, the Swiss beat many French investors to it and so have a majority share, which is entirely plausible as most nations at the time thought it a waste of money. At no point did the Ottomans have any share or control, though they tried, and failed, to invade the canal in 1915. They considered buying shares but decided against it for geopolitical, religious and economic reasons. For some reason their Islamic church were affronted by the idea, don't know why, and so refused to have any part.
    • Hang on, just a little nitpicking again — there is no such thing as the "Islamic church" as churches are exclusively Christian institutions. Instead say something like "Islamic leadership" or something. ~Tim
  • Belgium: We hold a festival to celebrate the new alliances between our nation and others, and for the new trade agreements. The real goal was to boost moral and happiness of our country and to recruit more soldiers, which boosted our force of 15,000 to 17,000. We begin moving our forces to our border with Prussia and their allies, and begin invading the Rhineland region (I believe that's the region bordering Belgium). Our exploration to the north above Sweden and Norway reveals that their is an uninhabited island to the north, with a great source of fish and open space. We prepare to send a group of ten scientists, 50 fisherman and 440 civilians to begin colonizing the island. We continue to industrialize, most small cities also gaining factories and other industry related buildings. We offer an alliance to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as we both are fighting a war against Prussia, are allies with Austria, and we could aid each other in the event of an invasion. We also send a request to Austria to send us a few troops to help us in our invasion of Rhineland. (Mod response required?)
    • Austria is already invading Rhineland.
    • (Oh alright, sorry!)
  • Denmark: We continue our blockade of Prussian ports now extending the blockades to all Prussian aligned ports. With the war and the nationalist feelings rising at home the nationalists gain control of parliament. With enlistment becoming a state sponsored program enlistment rates skyrocket. Our military grows by 2,000 men. With people being encouraged to play their part in the war.Our navy increases by ten ships. We increase the men invading Jutland and the northern German states by 40,000 men thus making the force 50,000 men. We accept the Dutch offer of alliance. King Christian IX himself appears to command the forces which increases moral in the troops. We begin to fund expeditions to Asia and Africa in greater amounts we make contact with the Japanese and see the war with the Japanese and Koreans we don't focus much on this as the Prussian war is more important currently but we do see possible future gains. We (secretly) send ambassadors to Japan.
  • Patagonia: With the help of Belgium, Secretary of State von Kermann continue to industrialize the country as part of his industrialization plan. New investors finally arrive in the country, and plans for the factories are made. On the military side, the new weapons brought by Belgium are slowly incorporated in the army.
  • Provinces of Hawaii Eman

Province map of Hawaii, including occupied Tahiti.

Recruiting efforts escalate, and thanks to that we send in 12,000 more troops into Tahiti, continuing to seige Tahitian strongholds through amphibious deployments. We ask for British support in the war, and in exchange we will cede our settlements in the Marshall Islands to the UK. Our motive in the war is now to enforce political hegemony to the Tahitian rebels, and the surrounding kingdoms. In political news, the Hawaiian parliament passes a territorial reform bill, splitting the kingdom into provinces. We offer the surrounding kingdoms of Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, and Rarotonga vassalization, to become self-governing provinces, or become Hawaiian protectorates (MOD RESPONSES REQUIRED). Kamehameha V warns Tahiti that if they don't surrender, an example will be made out of them; if they do, they will be given the options that the surrounding kingdoms have.
    • The war is over, Tahiti finally conquered. Celebrations are held throughout the Hawaiian chain as the Kanaka Maoli flag is raised over Papeete.
  • Argentine Republic: Further infrastructure, railroads, public services, hospitals, and schools are all set up in Argentina. Trade between Hawaii continues to flourishes. We further ask Patagonia to join the South American Pact that currently has members of Argentina and Brazil.
  • Swiss Confederacy: After reports of unrest in some canons of Switzerland, a new referendum is held to establish whether Switzerland should withdraw from the conflict. 76% of people vote No to withdrawal, 8% are undecided, and 16% vote Yes. It is estimated that around 60% of the eligible population takes part (Not due to disgust but for realism. Most elections and referendums are similar). As the general elections approach, it is noted that there is much higher support for French speaking candidates, as opposed to German ones. Around 10.1% of the Swiss people speak German at home (Nearest I could find OTL), and though they are widely spread there is a feeling of content, which in no way, shape or form transfers to discrimination, that there are so many German speaking council members. In a shocking turn of events, the leader of the Bern Canton Pacifist Movement admits to corruption after being caught in the act of theft by fellow Movement members, much damaging the reputation of the Pacifist Movement. Elsewhere, large sums are invested in infrastructure and education, with a number of state-of-the-art Universities established or expanded. The Suez Canal nears completion, with Swiss Confederacy Trading Company Officials predicting its completion within the next 18 months. National pride and excitement over the announcement is tangible. Population growth is high, with an increase in fertility and better child mortality rates due to medicinal advances and private investment in the healthcare sector. In the armaments sector, a research and development department of SIG, under the supervision of Danish-born Lieutenant D.H. Friberg, begins serious contemplation of the first true machine gun (OTL event just with a different company due to previous turns).
  • Saxony: We accept the Swiss' offer. We deploy more men in the invasion of Prussia, since the Austrians are doing so well, along with the Russians. We agree to the Russian's terms of an alliance. We continue to focus on our economy and industry, as well as the current war going on. Our farmers and factories continue working for the war effort.
  • United Kingdom: Mobilization of our forces is complete, and conscription is under way. Overwhelming popular support for North Germany and Prussia result in a declaration of war against the South German Confederation, although we do not wish to fight Switzerland or Russia, and avoid declaring war on them, seeing our participation as solely to defend the North German Confederation from Hapsburg aggression. We deploy 800,000 troops to the German front in an effort to push Austria back and maintain Prussia's independence. We call the Empire to arms, and further reinforcements from Canada, India, South Africa and Australia are summoned to Britain to be deployed into Germany.
  • Russia continues to fight against Prussia, but Emperor Alexander II also begins to look to establish a peace between his forces and those of Prussia. The economy is still doing well, despite the slowdown between our trade between East and West, due to increased demand in nations like Austria, whose own navy is engaged in Europe. We begin to construct the rail connection through Bukhara. We continue to support our allies in Romania.

Prussia's economic advantage over Austria begins to become evident, as Austria's massive debt greatly debilitates the Habsburg war machine. Meanwhile, the large agricultural population of Prussia are easily able to supply the front with food, and Bismarck's aggressive economic policies allow the country to continually produce other necessities for the war effort.

Protest in Russia against her involvement alongside Austria flares in St Petersburg and other urban centres, as does in the Emperor's council; Russia still appears to hold a grudge against its former enemy after the Crimea War.

In the Crimean War, Russia fought against the Ottomans, Italians, French, and British. Notably missing were the Austrians, who were largely considered one of the most pro-Russian states in Europe at the time; in fact, Russia helped Austria in their Hungarian Revolution of 1848. As for fighting alongside the Ottomans, they recently came to us asking for protection and money, so we clearly have the upper hand and they are fighting under our command. I ask this event be rendered null and void. -Rex
I agree Austria had good relationships with Russia.~Wrto12

Austrian advance begins to slow as dwindling supplies and British opposition grind them to a halt. (TBC)

In Switzerland, calls to withdraw from the war become louder.

  • Belgium: We continue supplying our war front with new troops and weapons, increasing our force by 500 men. We also supply them with artillery to help siege the cities in Rhineland. We hear back from our colony from the newly settled island north of Sweden, and it is going well, although with some difficulty. Our steam ship, the SS Arctic, begins its maiden voyage to the UCCA and delivering it industrial supplies and military supplies to the other nations along the way. We continue to industrialize the smaller cities and towns in Belgium as well as build defenses for locations along the Prussian border.
    • MOD: Belgium would have no reason/interest to create a permanent settlement in Svalbard, mostly temporary settlements were made there, due to its location, it is way too cold to be permanently settled yet or for the colony to exceed a population of 200 people at best, most of its population won't even over-winter, they will just depart for the winter, who will propably be fishers, hunters and/or miners ... Also Belgium would have no interest for fishing and hunting from the local fauna. The area is also claimed by various nations, so you could create tensions there. Just to be clear.
    • (Alright, my apologies-)
  • British Guiana: Infrastructure and economy continue to improve, with some of the supplies in the military seem good. As it looks that some of the weapons have arrived in the military, there are no planned attacks for British Guiana. The best decision is probably to be defensive, loyal and peaceful. As it stands currently, the military recruits troops step by step, as taking too much recruitment of the troops will lead to danger. The defensive plan is fortification, as we don't want to build more so it doesn't become too defensive in that order.
  • Patagonia: On advices of the Secretary of State, King Antoine I agrees to join the pact of Argentina and Brazil, even if the Marshal is against it. Furthermore, the King decides to write a charter which recognizes the rights of the Mapuche tribes in Patagonia. Many conservatives, like Marshal Montessier, disapprove the charter. As agreed with Austria years ago, Patagonia send a lot of resources to Austria, putting many of its labour force to the work in order to help Austria. The first ever history book of Patagonia is printed, and many are surprise to see among the founding fathers President Martinez of Argentina and Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. Modernization of the army and the industries continue.
  • PineappleFlag Eman

Flag of the Lana'i Pineapple Company.

Now that the war is over, it is time to rebuild. We improve infrastructure in conquered villages as we formally annex Tahiti into the kingdom. As a constitutional monarchy, the Hawaiian parliament agrees to rename Hawaii to the Commonwealth of Hawaii (Aupuni Makaʻāinana o Hawaii). We rename Papeete to Papaʻi Kaʻapeha (means "impressively large crab") as soldiers noted the large coconut crabs in the area. To help better manage industry, we found the Lana'i Pineapple Company, headquartered in Lana'i City; the island-wide plantation is its legal property, although the island shall remained governed by the Mau'i Province. We also request a non-aggression pact with the UK.
    • Swiss Trading Company: (NB: Not Switzerland, this is an individual company) We would like to invest in the Lana'i Pineapple Company. Such a contribution from one of the world's leading trade conglomerates would allow the company to vastly increase marketing and sales. It would also give them access next year to the Suez Canal, allowing them to expand their global reach significantly.
    • Lana'i Pineapple Co.: We accept.
More railroads and more trains are built across Spain and its colonies.
    • Dutch Dip: We warn Spain not to settle on the coast of Borneo, as you have no holdings on the island.
  • Kingdom of the Netherlands: We rush in Austria’s aid, sending the 40,000 mobilized troops toward Oldenburg, in order to conquer the city. We accept the alliance with Belgium and urge them to join the war. We mobilize 10,000 in our vassal, the Duchy of Limburg, and an additional 20,000 in Groningen, Frisia and Utrecht. We help our Korean allies economically and begin assembling a fleet at Batavia. We propose an alliance to Greece, and urge them to join our war. We continue to uphold the blockade with our Danish allies and we urge them to sign the Treaty of Den Haag. We offer Brunei and Sarawak protection from Spanish aggression, if they become the protectorate of the Dutch (MOD required). We secretly spread propaganda to the Indian people, asking them to rebel, we ask the Emperor of Siam to attack British Johor (MOD required), spread propaganda among the Boer to rebel against the British, propose to Brazil and Venezuela an alliance against the British, and promise them land if they help us against British Guiana (MOD required for Venezuela) and spread propaganda of Irish, Scottish and Quebecois independence. We secretly smuggle weapons with our fleet into Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, Natal, Transvaal, Oranje and the Cape Colony (secret ends.).
    • Siam (MOD): We agree and we begin secretly mobilizing.
    • Venezuela (MOD): We agree and we begin secretly mobilizing.
    • Sarawak (MOD): British aligned dynasty declines.
    • (MOD): Brunei (1-6 accepts, 7-10 declines) declines the Dutch offer, because of bad precedent between them and the Dutch.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask to coordinate our efforts with the Dutch in smuggling weapons and supplies to Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, Natal, Transvaal, Oranje and Cape Colony.
  • Papal States: Final preparations for next year's Ecumenical Council are under way, with some Bishops from the more far-flung regions arriving in Rome late this year. The Korean emperor is congratulated for his conversion to Christianity, and the Pope writes to him personally asking him to consider Catholicism, noting that the Universal Church has room for local cultures within it. The Jesuit Mission to Korea is given permission to expand. Pedro II of Brazil is sent a letter and a Collar of the Order of Pius IX from the Pope congratulating him on his strong stance against slavery, and for his heroic and noble offer to ransom slaves using his own personal fortune. In internal Curial news, Lucien Bonaparte is named Cardinal-Priest of Santa Pudenziana.
  • Swiss Confederacy: (Secret) - Switzerland will not face Britain in outright conflict, but secretly aid in the form of weapons, ammunition and medicine are sent to Indian rebels, with envoys asking that an independent India will be a close ally of the Swiss and in return for help now, will favour the nation with trade deals. The Swiss Confederate Intelligence Agency is formed, consolidating previous independent canton units, and sends its first spies into India to aid the rebels, via the Swiss Trading Company, Britain and Prussia, amongst many others. The spies are instructed to commit suicide rather than be captured. (Secret ends.) Money continues to be invested in national infrastructure and the military. The Stop the War Coalition sets fire to a barracks in Bern, in an act of protest. Though it is designed to be easy for soldiers to escape, the fire spreads to the armoury, igniting kegs of gunpowder. 12 soldiers are killed in the explosion, ruining the reputation of the organisation. Public outrage consumes the nation, with one mob almost beating to death a pacifist in a marketplace in Zermatt. The opinion of the masses is wholly against withdrawing from the war after such atrocities, and the question of neutrality disappears in the scandal. (Please let me know if this isn't allowed, though I thought I had dealt with this at least twice). Swiss charities distribute vast reserves of medical aid and home comforts to the wounded and prisoners of the Austro-Prussian war. Work on the lieutenant’s machine gun grows closer to completion (I ASSUME I DON’T NEED A MOD RESPONSE AS IT IS AN OTL DEVELOPMENT).
  • Toucouleur Empire: We build more industry and infrastructure for our nation and our vassals. We continue to produce factories for refining our metals and enhancing our cotton. We create a navy on our major rivers to be able to patrol, transport our army and raid our enemies based on war canoes of the Igbo war canoe by having men with muskets and attaching swivel cannons on these massive canoes as we build around 50 of these. We offer Liberia a chance to fall under our sphere of influence as the Americans are in no position to help them. (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED)
    • (MOD): Liberia (1-4 accepts, 5-10 declines) starts to gradually fall under Toucouleur Empire's influence. (five years)
  • Denmark: As with our signing of the treaty of the Treaty of Den Haag, we gain control of the island of Bali. We begin to move ships and soldiers to the island to protect it and maintain control. The blockade of North German ports continue and we continue to push through Jutland. At home support for the war continues, but some begin to doubt that the war will conclude. The nationalist gain control of the parliament, with them obtaining many seats. Enlistment continues with our military expanding by 700 men. Our navy increases by 15 ships. We begin to draw up plans to use the newly acquired island of Bali to gain more Asian colonies. Infrastructure on Iceland continues with roads and schools being built.
    • Danish Secret Diplomacy: We contact the Japanese promising them support against Korea in exchange for Japanese ports.
    • OOC: Japan would never do that. They were intent on keeping independence and avoiding unequal treaties that forced countries like China to cede territory to European powers. And a Danish–Japanese alliance is ASB.
    • OOC: I know. It was brought to my intention that it was ASB so I crossed it out.
  • Argentine Republic: Argentina’s compulsory military service is established in the nation. New laws based on crimes are set up and whipping penalties given by the government is made illegal too. Argentina’s national Academia Sinica is formed and aims to combat diseases and to improve medical technology. President Martinez proposes Belgium, Brazil, Patagonia, and Austria to invest in the Sinica.
  • Great Korean Empire (someone deleted my turn): The Premier, upon receiving Japan’s declaration of war, declares war with Japan with the Emperor’s approval. Twenty thousand troops and five steamships are mobilised in the province of Gyeongsang and the island of Jeju. The Emperor expects a quick victory due to the Japanese very low naval capabilities and outdated weaponry, though the Emperor requests the Russian military aid to ensure the war will succeed. The introduction of structural reforms that are expected to modernise Korea continues despite the war. 20 more steamships, adding to the already made 80, are constructed to secure Korea’s protection from foreign powers invading it from the sea (since North Korea is already naturally buffered by mountains). Modern weaponry are adopted, while older weapons and ships are dismantled for material. Korean industrial complexes continue to undergo exponential growth, resulting in heightened production of petrochemicals, steel, vehicles, and machinery, and increasingly higher industrial output. Many privately-owned industrial conglomerates grow at a rapid pace, benefiting from heavy financial support given by the government, and domestic and foreign investors as well as free unrestricted trade with Austria, Russia and China. A new culture; a mixture of Korean and traditional values and Western liberalism, continues to be heavily promoted by the government. Western-style architecture continues to replace their Eastern counterparts. Western-style attire continues to become more prevalent. More schools, universities and libraries are built to add onto existing academic programs.
    • Russia pledges to provide assistance to Korea. Our Pacific Fleet is sent to support the Korean forces.
    • The Emperor thanks the Russian Emperor, and promises to pay reparations after the conflict succeeds.
  • Russia, after a year and a half of fighting against the Prussians, proposes a peace treaty wherein Russian Poland would be expanded to include all of Prussian Poland. This would remove 600,000 Russian regulars and 100,000 Polish militias from the ongoing German conflict and would also have their march on Berlin cancelled. (MOD) Domestically, many liberals praise the Emperor for allowing peaceful protests against the war effort. Alexander II delivers a bold speech from St. Petersburg promising to swiftly conclude the war and bring the highest levels of glory to Russia. He touts the new global power status of Russia, and how such nations as Korea, the Ottomans, and Austria all came to Russia for help. Spare money is used to finance infrastructure along the Pacific. The railroad through Bukhara is almost completed.
    • Korean Dip: The Premier Daewongun sends a letter to the Russian Emperor that proposes to partition Japan into three spheres of influences; the Ryukyu islands will be Dutch, Hokkaido and Southern Sakhalin Russian, and Shinkoku and Kyushu Korean. The main island of Honshu will be left as a rump state, being forced into neutrality and the nullification of the Treaty of Edo.
      • Russia rejects the Korean offer, stating that the sole goal of the ongoing war should be peace.
    • Ottoman Dip: We wish for the non-aggression pact to be extended to 1900 and us to negotiate a future alliance with the Russian Empire in Istanbul with the Ottoman sultan.
      • Russia agrees to extend the non-aggression pact to 1880.
    • MOD: Prussia agrees to the Russian proposal.
  • Austrian Empire: We continue the war efforts, recruiting as many troops as possible in our army. Due to the British forces bringing our forces advance to a halt, we begin to coordinate our defensive efforts. Our navy proceed with an invasion of Malta and Corfu. We smuggle weapons and supplies, to the Irish, Scottish, Boer, French Canadian people inside the British Empire, while we send them military advisers too.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask our allies the Ottoman Empire, France and Italy to join the war against the British.(MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED) We ask our ally Greece to attack Britain, promising them the Ionian Islands. We urge Irish, Scottish, Boer, French Canadian people to rebel against the British Empire promising them their independence. We also ask the Transvaal Republic and the Orange Free State to attack the British Cape Colony and claim their ancestral lands. (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED) After Prussian defeats in the German Confederation War, we propose a peace treaty between us and the North German Confederation, where we gain the German part of Silesia and Rhineland to become our client state. (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED)
    • MOD RESPONSE: France and Italy both refuse to side with Austria at this moment in time.
    • MOD RESPONSE: Prussia agrees to the Austrian terms and sends British troops home.
      • Dutch Diplomacy: We will help our ally by smuggling weapons and supplies and would help our kinsmen the Boer in such a war.
      • Belgian Diplomacy: We offer that if Prussia accepts the peace treaty, Belgium could get Rhineland or a portion of it, as it is right along our nation’s border. In return, we will stay allied with Austria and keep trade routes open, as well as providing them with economical support and supplies.
  • Ottoman Empire: The 1869 Ottoman Games will be held in Cario. We continue to build our military and our economy. We continue financial reforms to improve our economy. We continue to expand in Africa 45 pixels. We continue to train soldiers and send them to fight in Europe. We move more of our navy to Cyprus. Our nation is split on whether to pull out of Austria or to fight Britain. We therefore remove our troops from Prussia to honour our non-aggression pact with Britain. We seek more close relationships with Britain.
    • Hawaiian Diplomacy: We ask for a non-aggression pact with the Ottomans, as we are a British-friendly country.
  • British India: Pro-independence Indian activists across the nation, thanks to financial support and armaments from European powers, begin a series of attacks on British infrastructure. Servants in the houses of rich British citizens and sympathisers ignite fires, with over 200 manors being razed to the ground in the Night of the Shining Flames and Sparkling Knives. On the very same night it is estimated that almost 50 British troops were killed by rebels as they lay asleep. British Army rail networks are sabotaged, and public opinion steadily mounts against their British oppressors. Indian trade companies cease trade with their British counterparts, predominantly for safety concerns. A mutiny on the British Home fleet in Bombay leads to the Indian sailors seizing control of both the ships and the port. Rebels seize three British forts, and a marketplace stoning in Karachi leaves two British officers dead. After rumours (correct) spread that the leaders of the Indian Army are pro-independence, over 70,000 more enlist. As almost the entirety of the British military is in Germany, India will come closer and closer to full scale revolt.
  • Australia: Plans for the nation train way continues to be completed with the Adelaide to Melbourne finished on April 1868 with it being open on May. The 1868 general election has also be finished with Richard Dry from Tasmania becoming the first premier of Australia after each state had their own premier since Britain colonize the country. In July, the Prince Alfred College is opened in Adelaide, South Australia. Over in New Zealand, the census has been done with 315,000 people currently living in New Zealand. There are talks started along the country, that independence could be a good idea as Britain enters the German War basically making the country of Australia joining in with only 6500 men that is ready for war with another 2000 waiting to join. In British Guinea we expand another ten px north into the area.
  • Saxony: We continue to focus on and develop our industry and the economy, as well as the military. Further subsidies are granted for businesses and factories looking to expand into the top ten largest cities within the Kingdom of Saxony. Leipzig and Dresden see large growths in population. Our armies continue to fight alongside our allies against the Prussians.

French forces surround the remaining Mexican forces in Yucatan. Most of the Mexican remaining forces surrender in Yucatan.

As France has won the war against Mexico, Maximilian Habsburg, with the backing of France, asks the Pope to crown him as the Emperor of Mexico.

Liberal supporters of the former Mexican government, now fled Mexico as they are heavily oppressed, while the ones found guilty of war crimes are executed.

Texas earns some minor border concessions with the New Mexican state, as they were at war with Mexico, until now that an official peace treaty is signed.

The new Mexican state now heavily depends on France, to reconstruct and stabilize. Mexican state in return provides France with cheap silver and other metals.

France forces remain stationed in Mexico as a part of the agreement with the new Mexican state, while ports are granted to France to dock their ships.

American Civil War officially ends with the United States of America recognizing the Confederate States of America as independent as agreed in the treaty of Quebec.

USA estimations put the number of former Americans citizens in Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, which are now British territories, that refused to become British subjects and immigrate to the USA, around 40% of the population of those states. The rest persuaded by British promises or by reluctance to leave their homes, agree to stay.

Even though the Chilean government in exile refuses to sign a peace treaty with Argentina and Patagonia, Chile is de facto partitioned between the two countries.

  • Hawaii: We continue to improve infrastructure throughout the kingdom, and we start a police force mainly started to help suppress Tahitian rebellions. We expand our army and navy by 10,000 men, 750 cannons, and 35 ships. After a year since completion, Aliʻiōlani Hale finally opens, giving the Hawaiian parliament a permanent base. We offer the surrounding kingdoms of Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, and Rarotonga vassalization, to become self-governing provinces, or become Hawaiian protectorates (MOD RESPONSE REQUIRED). The Swiss Trading Co.'s investment in the Lana'i Pineapple Co. has helped our economy. (Secret) We send independence propaganda to the Philippines. (end of secret.). In other news, we promote the growth of Honolulu.
    • Hawaiian Secret Diplomacy: We request Japanthe NetherlandsBritish AustraliaKorea, and Russia to participate in a plan to remove Spanish influence from the Pacific, mainly achieved through pushing for Philippine independence.
    • Australian Secret Diplomacy: What do we get if we accept this alliance.
    • Hawaiian Secret Dip: I've always seen that the good side to it is removing the aggressive Spanish from the Pacific, it may also leave Pacific territories up for conquest.
    • Korean Secret Dip: We would like to help remove Spanish influence and set up an independent Philippine regime (potentially split into different spheres of influences). The Emperor, under further consideration, now does not support Philippine independence.
    • MOD: Just No ...
    • MOD: Huahine declines due to Hawaiian aggression against neighboring kingdoms. Huahine wants to keep its independence.
    • MOD: Raiatea declines due to Hawaiian aggression against neighboring kingdoms. Raiatea wants to keep its independence.
    • MOD: Rarotonga declines due to Hawaiian aggression against neighboring kingdoms. Raiatea wants to keep its independence.
    • MOD: Huahine, Raiatea and Rarotonga feeling threatened by Hawaiian expansion and aggression against neighboring kingdoms, form a defensive alliance, seeking to limit Hawaiian expansion. They ask Bora Bora to join the defensive alliance.
    • MOD: No way Hawaii could expend that much its army that fast, when in OTL at its apex had an army of 10000 men. With the white men's arrival disease, famine came and wars between the chiefs happened, thus by now 75% of the isles former population is dead. You simply can't raise an army that big.
  • Belgium: We begin to connect our country, building roads and railroad lines across the country, meeting at Brussels and our port Antwerp. We also begin manufacturing new weapons and other materials for our military, as well as building up our economy. We offer trade to Russia and the Ottomans, as the two are allies of Austria as we are. We pull some of our forces back toward the border in case of a counterattack, or if a peace treaty is made. Our steamship continues to bring supplies to and from our trade partners in South America, adding to our efforts to build the economy.
  • Kingdom of Bora Bora: We decline Hawaii's offer and insist that their settlers remove themselves from our islands. We have no quarrel with them and wish for our independence. We set up pearl farms and fishing companies to increase revenue. We increase our military size. We begin to attempt to westernise based on French designs. We ask Australia for basic cannon and ship designs in case of Hawaiin aggression.
    • MOD: Huahine, Raiatea and Rarotonga feeling threatened by Hawaiian expansion and aggression against neighboring kingdoms, form a defensive alliance, seeking to limit Hawaiian expansion. They ask Bora Bora to join the defensive alliance.
    • Bora Bora Diplomacy: We accept the alliance with Huahine, Raiatea and Rarotonga.
  • Brazil: Pedro II graciously accepts the award from the Pope, apologizing for not sending his thanks earlier. He also Increases his Navy, and dedicates more of the navy to patrolling the Atlantic, looking for illegal slave traders. He also sends diplomats to Korea, congratulating their king on converting to Christianity. Finally, Pedro sends letters to all the great modern powers of the world that have ended slavery, asking for their assistance they could spare should tensions from his ongoing efforts to gradually but decisively end slavery. He says that although an uprising or rebellion is not likely to happen, there are still powerful people within Brazil who would rather see slavery continue.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We will release our slaves as soon as the climate is more stable, due to the current war with Britain.
  • British Guiana: Economy and infrastructure continues to improve, whilst we still build roads that could connect to the other cities and Georgetown as well. At the military, 250 troops are recruited, and possibly there would be more. The military is still not ready to increase, during much of the discussion what will happen to British Guiana that should be in a danger with other threats. We focus on defense by building more bunkers to aid, but as it stands there's no concerns unless British Guiana comes in a danger involving in invasion.
    • Secret Dutch Diplomacy: We ask British Guiana to revolt against the British Empire, under the promise of independence and help to industrialize.
    • Guiana Federation Diplomacy: We rebel against the British Empire and declare independence, and with a response to Dutch, we are helping to industrialize.
  • Great Korean Empire: The introduction of structural reforms that are expected to rapidly industrialise and modernise Korea as a modern emerging power by 1885. The navy is the most prioritised part of the military. 12 more steamships, adding to the already made 90, are constructed to secure Korea’s protection from foreign powers invading it from the sea. Modern weaponries are continued to be adopted, while older weapons and ships are dismantled for material to use to manufacture modern weapons. Korean industrial complexes continue to undergo exponential growth, resulting in heightened production of petrochemicals, steel, vehicles, and machinery, and increasingly higher industrial output. Many privately-owned industrial conglomerates grow with a rapid pace, benefiting from heavy financial support given by the government, and domestic and foreign investors. A new culture; a mixture of Korean and traditional values and Western liberalism, continues to be heavily promoted by the government. Western-style architecture continues to replace their Eastern counterparts. Western-style attire continues to become more prevalent. More schools, universities, and libraries are built to add on to existing academic programs.
  • Japan: We put our government on hold for a year as we completely reform it. We base it on the structure of the Russian government but will still keep the titles of Shogun and Emperor. We ditch our medical system in place of westernized methods and send advisors to the island of Britain to better study their organization of hospitals. We pay for doctors to go study at western colleges. We also study factories in Britain to see how to build them better. We also request Catholic missionaries to come to Japan and spread their religion to us. We also pay for some western architects to come to Japan and teach our architects the best way to build.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We ask the Emperor of Japan to consider Protestantism, as it is a better way for living. We could send missionaries from the East Indies toward you.
    • Hawaiian Secret Diplomacy: We offer to Japan and the Netherlands for assistance in Philippine independence to remove Spanish influence from the Pacific. With Spanish influence out, those territories might make easy conquest.
    • Dutch Secret Diplomacy: We might later, but as of now, we are at war with Britain.
    • Hawaiian Secret Diplomacy: The main "weapon" in the independence movement is pro-independence propaganda, which shouldn't be very resource-intensive. Hawaii will mainly take care of secretly arming the rebels.
    • MOD: Hawaii just can't do that ...
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Pope is more than happy to comply with the Japanese request, and a group of Jesuits and Passionists are dispatched from China to begin missionary activity in Japan. A Bishop is also sent to the court of the Shogun and Emperor to act as Nuncio (ambassador) for the Pope.
  • Kingdom of the Netherlands: We begin moving our colonial fleet, 60 ships strong, to Natal and invade the British colony with 20k, landing just outside of Durban, and begin marching on the city. We urge the Boers to rebel against their British master and ask Transvaal and the Orange Free State to help us (MOD needed). We continue supplying Boer, Quebecois and Irish rebels, by sending weapons. We secretly urge Siam to invade Johor, promising them lands denied by the British (MOD needed).
    • Mod: Siam invades Johor, South African Republic/Transvaal and Orange Free State invade Cape Colony and Natal Colony.
Spain begins invading Sultanate of Sulu. Continues its war on Mexico, pushing into Eastern Mexico Region. More railroads and more trains are built across Spain and its colonies.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We warn Spain to stop the war in Sulu, and offer Sulu protection if they agree to become a Dutch protectorate (MOD needed). We also tell them that the war in Mexico is over.
    • MOD: France begins mobilizing and declares war to Spain, due to Spain invading their client state Mexico.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We offer an alliance to France, seeing that we share a common enemy (MOD needed).
    • MOD: France agrees to an alliance with the Dutch against Spain.
  • Patagonia: Industry finally begins to start in the country. During that time, the improvement of the army continues.
  • Papal States: The ecumenical council begins, taking place in the Archbasilica of St John Lateran. Many bishops from Europe and throughout the world take part, and discussions make a good start.
  • Toucouleur Empire: We continue to build our industry and our infrastructure as we move into the future mainly focusing on the processing of our cotton, iron and gold industries. We begin our influence on Liberia as they move away from the weakened America which will fail to protect them but instead to the great nation of the Toucouleur. We also move to increase taxes to 12.5% as our surplus of our budget continuously grows.
  • Australia: We request Spain to hold off on expanding Guinea as we are evidently going to touch each other and head to war over this land that the people living here wouldn't like to have. This is after we expand yet another 10 px north of Queensland. We also continue to build more infrastructure in all of the land that we currently do control. We hope to gain an alliance with the Netherlands in stopping the aggression that Spain is currently doing to the South East Asia region. We also bring back the 6500 men that we enter with Britain and let them come back to Australia in possible hope that the Netherlands don't want to attack our region.
  • Denmark: Honoring our treaty with the Netherlands we send troops to aid them in the Korean-Japanese war (OOC: Did you declare war?) However, the troop number is minimal with 60 ships and about 12,000 men.We do so as our efforts are on the Prussian war. We continue our war efforts to push through Juteland. We begin to occupy Bali and colonize it establishing ports and the such. We begin to feel the effects of the now opened trade as our economy begins to expand. The nationalists now in control of parliament begins to draw up plans to take control of Scandinavia after Juteland is occupied.Enlistment and national service become increasingly advocated by the government. Our military increases by 2400 men. We make plans for iron clad war ships with the first few hopefully being completed in 1.5 years. We increase the invasion force by 5000 men thus the force is now 55,000 men.
  • Westralia: With popular support thoroughly against Britain's warmongering in Germany, the Government sees this as the perfect opportunity to further distance ourselves from Britain. Despite our small population (around 20,000), we believe that the abundance of natural resources will allow us to become a sustainable, self-sufficient nation. The Prime Minister and his cabinet have begun secretly debating independence. It is found that growth of the population would be essential if Westralia were to become self-sustaining. In order for that to happen, expansion of farms and establishment of new farms to feed said growing population will be necessary. The Government authorises a new immigration campaign to attract migrants from all over the world, and existing citizens are encouraged to establish farms. State-subsidised prospectors are sent into the east of the country to try to find gold (MOD RESPONSE). Meanwhile, we attempt to establish a relationship with the Netherlands independent of Britannia, offering trade and immigration opportunities.
  • Argentine Republic: We are angered by the fact that exiled Chilean government doesn't recognise us. In response, we move 20,000 troops into former Chile's capital and tear down many of their national buildings and halls. Mass propaganda is spread all around in Chile.

The Empire of Greater Britannia begins to collapse, as colonies begin to secede and form independent nations, or are invaded by hostile neighbours, as seen in British Malaya and South Africa. Remaining British subjects press for Britain to withdraw from the war with Austria, which many see as not being their concern, and a waste of men, money and resources. Resistance comes especially from Oceania and South America, where Guiana recently declared its independence.

The rebellions in China intensify further as they continue to take land away from the Tianjing government. Popular unrest due to Tianjing's vacillation is now evident.

The American economy is now well on its way to repairing itself as British support rebuilds the United States.

Immigration into Westralia grows as promises of better lives and wealth attract migrants from the world over, especially from Asia and Australia.

  • Westralia: The success of the immigration and agriculture expansion campaigns causes the population to sky-rocket, and we project that the population will reach about 50,000 by the end of the century. The Prime Minister abruptly calls for an independence referendum, which will determine whether the public support secession from the Empire. Another question in the same referendum is whether Westralia, in the event of secession, should install a new Royal Family, or become a Republic.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We agree to an alliance and propose that you join the Treaty of Hanseong. We both have common enemies here and we should act quickly.
  • Australia: With Westralia starting to be successful, we also start to plan out our independence referendum from the United Kingdom in hoping to get an alliance with the Netherlands in the South East Asia region. The independence referendum will possibly take place during next year to see if we will secede from the Britannia Empire and we hope that Canada, India and South Africa can rebel from Britain and declare their independence. Also during this time we give a trade request to Westralia for a train line which will connect the capital of Perth to Adelaide in hope of ease for goods and people for aid in helping the nation progress. In Queensland, talks are starting to go further in to see and if we try to find metals like gold and silver (Mod Response needed) in hope of helping our nation grow.
    • Westralian Diplomacy: We agree, and initiate the construction of the rail line. With the British government busy with the German War, we are able to secure de facto international relations with the establishment of embassies in the Federal capitals of Perth and Sydney.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We agree to an alliance, we propose you to join the Treaty of Hanseong. We have both common enemies here, and we should act quickly.
  • Saxony: We continue to focus on and develop our industry and the economy, as well as the military. Further subsidies are granted for businesses and factories looking to expand into the top tei largest cities within the Kingdom of Saxony. Leipzig and Dresden see large growths in population. Our armies continue to fight alongside our allies against the Prussians.
  • Guiana Federation: As we declare independence and rebel against the British Empire, we continue to recruit more troops in military as the military increases the size. We hope some British colonies rebel against British Empire and declare their independence. Although, the roads continue to build and connect the cities of Georgetown and other as well. We also hope that we can improve relations with the Netherlands, who promise us after the news to declare our independence from British.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: We propose an alliance and free-tariff trade between us and the Guiana Federation.
    • Guiana Federation Diplomacy: We agree on alliance and free-tariff trade.
  • Kingdom of the Netherlands: Our 20,000 troops in Natal march on Durban. We announce that we only want to liberate and we ask the populace of the Natal Colony and the Cape Colony to join us against the British (MOD needed). We begin mobilizing troops in Batavia, 15,000, preparing them for a possible war between Spain and the Netherlands, and we support the Siamese conquest of Johor with arms. We continue supplying rebel groups within the British Empire, such as Quebec, the Boers and the Irish. We invite Australia and Westralia to join the Hanseong treaty. We secretly ask the Portuguese to help us against the British. We propose the British peace if they give us Singapore, Caoe Colony and Natal Colony (MOD needed)
    • Westralian Diplomacy: The referendum has succeeded, but the people wish to retain some sort of monarchy, though at the same time still disconnecting from Britain. Thus, the government of the Kingdom of Westralia invites 18-year-old Prince Alexander of the Netherlands, to become Westralia's first King. The only conditions held by the government include that Alexander must learn to speak English, he must immerse himself in the cultural traditions of Westralia and her people, he must declare his loyalty to the Westralian Kingdom, and he must throughout his reign support the independence of Westralia. Should he accept to all of these conditions, we invite him to travel to Perth to be crowned as the new King, and to be appointed to the newly-created Order of the Swan, the highest national order of chivalry. All existing members of the Westralian peerage will swear their loyalty to Alexander, should he become King.
    • Dutch Diplomacy: The Dutch accept and Prince Alexander shall come to Perth himself.
    • Westralian Diplomacy: Excellent! Preparations immediately begin for Alexander's coronation. He will be crowned on February 1at next year, and until then will be known in Westralia as Crown Prince Alexander. He is asked to choose a regal name.
  • Papal States: The Ecumenical Council continues, with discussions taking slightly longer than expected due to the number and detail of issues, and the large number of people in attendance. The Pope responds to Mexico's request of last year, saying that due to various reasons, it will not be possible for him to travel in person to Mexico to crown Emperor Maximilian. If His Majesty wished to come to Rome, a direct coronation by the Pope himself would be possible. Otherwise, His Holiness suggests that he could send an official representative to Mexico to act in his place, such as the Cardinal Protodeacon (who is responsible for crowning new Popes), or someone closely associated to Mexico's French protectors, such as Cardinal Lucien Bonaparte.
    • MOD: Seeing that the Mexican population is majority Catholic, thus being crowned by the Pope could legitimize him in the eyes of his people, Maximilian Hapsburg travels to Rome to be crowned by the Pope. What remains of the Mexican (now royal) navy is dispatched to escort his ship that will bring him to Rome.
  • Belgium: We continue to create the rail lines, which near completion as we are a smaller nation. We continue to work on training our troops to make them more effective against the larger nations. We host a large festival in Brussels to celebrate the completion of the rail lines and the industrialization period our nation had just gone through. We begin making several vessels for our navy, similar to the previous vessel we had created. With our industrialization, we now are able to make them quicker, in roughly a year now. We continue building our economy as well, creating banks in most cities. We move some of our forces back into Rhineland to help either defend or take more territory from the Prussians.
  • Austrian Empire: Celebrations all around the realm happen regarding our victory against the Prussians. German Silesia is annexed into the Austrian Empire. We continue the war effort against the British. We start copying the structure of the Prussian army, with the help of our puppet Rhineland.
    • Rhineland: An Austrian client state is created out of the territories that Prussia ceded us (Westphalia Jülich-Cleves-Berg Lower Rhine). Rhineland officially joins the South German Confederation. A purge happens to public employees which are loyal to Prussia, gradually replacing them with ones loyal to Austria. An army is created composed mainly out of former Prussian soldiers and officers, who live here, Austrian loyal officers and soldiers are also recruited into this new army. Prussian former officers and soldiers are offered better conditions of work than before and better wages (20% up) in order to keep them on our side. Our army keeps the Prussian structure and we send every available information about the Prussian army to Austria.
    • Ryukyu Kingdom: Following Japan's ascension to the Treaty of Hanseong, control of the Ryukyu kingdom passes to Austria, as agreed in the treaty. Ports are improved with resources send by Austria, while local forced labour is used in a small scale (a few hundreds or so). We ask the Dutch to send sufficient troops to keep the colony under control as we are unable to do so, given that it's very difficult for us to transport troops there.
    • Franz Joseph Island: Colony is given the proper attention, now that our war with Prussia is over, 1000 more troops are deployed there due to the British threat. A gigantic monument is build there in honor of Emperor Franz Joseph, to celebrate the victory against Prussia, while its port is upgraded too.
    • Austrian Diplomacy: We ask Britain for peace (with the whole of our alliance), while we ask for Cape Colony and Natal Colony to become Dutch colonies again, since its people desire so and Australia to be given the choice to become independent of the British Empire, in a referendum.
