Election of 1860 is an alternate history timeline that completely changes the American Civil War. This time, the Northern states secede and fight the Southern states (United States) because the election didn't go the way that they wanted to go. The United States is eventually back together and unlike OTL, slavery still exists in the Southern states until 1870.
Point of Divergence[]
The biggest point of divergence was the 1860 United States Presidential Election when Southern Democrat John C. Breckenridge surprisingly beats Abraham Lincoln in the election. This shocking outcome led to protests among the Northern free states and the eventual secession of the Northern states, though some states such as Pennsylvania, and New Jersey stayed with the Union hoping that they could survive.
