Edward James "Ed" Kapinski (born October 11, 1934) is an American politician and public figure who served as Mayor of Halifax from 1976-1988 and Governor of Nova Scotia from 1989 until 1993. He was the only Governor of Nova Scotia in the 20th Century not to be elected to more than one term. Kapinski is best known for his efforts to modernize Halifax and the city saw a period of rapid growth at a time when the rest of the United States was suffering from economic troubles.
