Created in 1867, the Dominion of Canada struggled to keep its national unity when its neighbor, the United States, crumbled into anarchy. It was originally successful but by the time of the North American War it had to face a war with the French speaking province of Quebec. Luckily it was able to succeed in reconquering the province.
