History[]
The republic was established by Mormon settlers fleeing persecution in the USA.
They declared Independence in 1849 and were immediately recognised by the British Government wanting a buffer between its British holding and the USA. Followed then a conflict known as the Utah War in the USA which ended in a victory for the latter.
A second uprising took place during the US Civil War.

Gambling, alcohol and tobacco are illegal. Insofar as the latter two, they can not be legally sold or bought. They may, however, be produced for personal consumption.
