The Delaware Flag

In 1503 Belgian explorers colonized what is now known as The Delaware Penininsula. When the explorers arived they asked the native american Delaware tribe what this place was called, they replied saying it was Delaware. The head explorer Arno Dupont thought it was as good a name as any, so instead renaming this new land he keeped the name Delaware. And soon the once Belgian explorers were now the Belgian colonizers, colonizing the entire Delaware Peninsula.

In 1745 the Delawarians decided to peacefully secead. Belgiums nation was in debt and the upkeep of the colony was very expensive so there was no net money gained, so Belgium cutting it's losses agreed with out resistence.
